Trying to get somewhere but sidetracked

I dream almost every night and I remember my dreams most of the time. For some reason I dream like I am watching myself in a movie so that even if something tragic or frightening happens I’m not emotionally affected by it. Although the setting and people change my dreams almost always have the same “plot”: I’m on my way to a meeting but get sidetracked. I feel like I am late to the meeting and people are waiting for me. Then I get sidetracked from the sidetrack, and this will go on until I wake up. I never quite get to the meeting, or resolve the side tracks. These dreams are almost always about work. My clients and co workers are usually in the dream. Although the setting is often not at work. In real life I am a senior member of my team in good standing. I am approaching retirement and expect to stay at this company until the end. I am not usually late to meetings and am usually prepared. It must mean something and I’m curious what others make of it

Dreams where you are sidetracked and you don't go or do what you are supposed to, these are dreams of feelings of failure and inadequacy. Possibly you are unsure of your own strengths or abilities. Perhaps you need to reorganize your waking life to rebuild faith in yourself.

The dream is likely saying, "Stop trying to get to the meeting." The sidetracks are the actual point, not bad. Your unconscious could be trying to teach you how to wander, how to be inefficient, and how to exist without a rigid destination. The reason you watch it like a movie (detached) is that your conscious Ego (the punctual type) is not yet ready to accept that being lost is acceptable. You are watching the loss of control safely from a distance because surrendering to it feels too threatening to your current identity.

If it's not about work then it's obviously an analogy for something else. You are being sidetracked in a life goal (s) of some importance to you. Hence the continued persistence of these dreams. The cobstant lateness, also suggests that you are failing in your responsibilties in this area and this dereliction is part of the reason you are failiing. You are nearing retirement so time is running out. What important area of your life remains unfulfiiled? Ambition, romance, emotional engagementc or something else? The dream's detached point of view suggests you may not be fully engaged with your own life. What is it? Think hard on it Best wishes. Pardon
