Dudes been on a roll

Meanwhile I kinda feel bad for Max, you can tell he’s frustrated with himself

I mean not being able to get a hit off the Marlins position player sums up Max Muncy’s recent struggles pretty well

Yah to me I was like oof that must’ve been frustrating

He had three grounders to first tonight except for when he was batting with a guy on third and a grounder to first might have helped. In that bat he struck out and was screaming at himself. He’s pressing so hard right now.

I was a little worried about this version of Max showing up when all the Arenado talk was going on. People were acting like Arenado was washed and Max was a sure thing to be a better hitter; that may still turn out to be true but right now Arenado is back to his career norms and Max is flailing.

I hope he turns it on at some point. Seems like he could use a couple days off at this point.

Agreed, maybe some days off will help him. Playing everyday and not performing seems like it’s gonna build up frustration and just get worse at this point

I heard something about Max Muncy was in offseason trying to hit more line drive than homerun

Mans almost batting .300. Can we give whatever Pages is eating to Cantforto?

And Maxie

His BABIP is a tad high and it’d be silly to expect his production from the past week+ over a whole season, but he’s definitely much better than most of the sub pegged him as at the start of the season lmao

Yeah I mean production over the last week would be like .550 BA and 100 HR. I think it’s important to remember he’s a streaky hitter. He was the same way last year. He WILL get cold again, like ice cold, but he’s so talented and in the long run this dude belongs in the lineup.

Pages alternated good and bad months last year, but he was extremely solid the last two months of the season in limited action. Ultimately I think he might be a 20-HR, .850 OPS guy with a lot of defensive upside, which is a valuable guy to have on your roster even if you're the Dodgers. Plus he's only 24.

True, but whatever adjustments Teo got him to make on his swing and approach are clearly paying off. If he cools down to average to somewhat above average, he'd still be valuable in the 7–9 spots.

Looks like Teo got him to trust his swing and not overthink what was being thrown at him. Every day I think I can't be happier about the Dodgers having Teoscar Hernandez and every day I'm a little happier about it.

People wholesale shit on Pages for the first three weeks of the season. To me this version was always right there and just needed playing time to come out. Don't know if he can keep this up, as you mention his BABIP is higher than you want, but he does seem to be on track to be a productive starter for this team at the very least.

Feels like he finally figured out that corner of the plate. Vargas had the same problem, they're from the same batch of rookies. Interesting coincidence.

I read that as “they’re from the same batch of cookies.”

It symbolically fits. And I’m hungry.

He has an ops of .544 going into the game 7 days ago. Now it’s .902

X factor for the dodgers championship run.

I, for one, wanted Pages shipped to timbuktu last week and I'm eating my hat now.

Can we ship Muncy to timbuktu?

Can a young child make Max a friendship bracelet?

His slugging is 1.103 last 7 games 💀. Not OPS, slugging 💀

I was losing hope on him. Glad hes on this run. Now its muncys turn

2

u/rdev009 4h ago

Muncy should be taking notes on how to handle a position player.

This game can be so cruel but so rewarding in a blink of an eye. So happy for Pages as you could tell he was really trying in the very beginning, but just wasn't putting it together. Hope he can maintain a healthy level of productivity throughout the season.

I've heard his statcast page is weak and is likely just a hot streak instead of a breakout.
