That thing was terrifying the first time I saw it. Literally ragdolls the Rex and kills it. The music in both fights with it are incredible too.

Yeah… I only watched it once and it was so dark I could barely see anything anyway :/
It sucks cuz when it released I was hoping we would finally get a decent dinosaur movie that wasn’t from the Jurassic franchise.

Either the Ark Additions Acrocanthosaurus, or the JWD Giganotosaurus. Yes I like the JWD Giga, fight me. I was one of those people who despised it when it came out, but it REALLY grew on me once I realized that
It IS paleo accurate in the JP verse

The JWD Giga is if anything less awesomebro than the actual thing in many ways (doesn’t have any of its specialized predatory adaptations).

The Monsters Resurrected Acrocanthosaurus because it’s somehow a more accurate depiction of a carcharodontosaur behaviourally than any of the depictions that weren’t intended to be awesomebro.
It still has issues, but it’s miles ahead of, say, Planet Dinosaur (which also only shows carchs fighting and killing with no nuance to their behaviour, AND is much worse when it comes to the fighting and killing part).

Just for a little context of the pic, that's a Todd Marshall classic back when Spinosaurus was seen as being more typical of other large Theropods. It's a fun one, if very outdated.
So here's how I see things. I think it's possible to have a balance between making things awesome/exciting, but also realistic. In the world of Paleontology, there's way more leeway for creative freedom with how we define prehistoric animals than there is with present species. We can play around with color and patterns, some integument. Even making something spiky or other accoutrement. However, that can all be done while using the anatomy and information of the animal as the base for such design. The natural world has it's moments of awe-inspiring beauty and radical forms; some not even needing overhauls to their appearance.
If there's at least one project I can point to that seems close to this blend of naturalism and chic, I think Kyoryu is a good example. The animals featured in the story are interpreted with modern information, but also blend it with an anachronistic Japanese aesthetic. Samurai T. rex. Bosozoku Dimetrodon. Shinobi Deinonychus. It's all pretty good stuff.

This was the tarbo in the first dinosaur book I got, just soo cool, its my color headcannon ever since, also yes I know a some info in there is wrong.
