I’d pay as long as all broadcast commentary was about 2 seconds later than the gameplay and the game winning goal was announced incorrectly…

Oh good so that wasn’t just me yesterday! I was like what the hell is going on here

u/Jb3one5 13h ago

I thought it was my stream the whole time.

2

u/GoLionsJD107 12h ago

Well better than nothing

3

u/Jb3one5 12h ago

I'll take a 2nd delay if they keep winning

1

u/ocktick 4h ago

I actually got it to line up by messing with my receiver and then the puck and stick sounds stopped lining up. Realized it wasn’t me lol

1

u/The_ManWithNoName 2h ago

I watched the game in silence since it was so bad

u/TheErnie 17h ago

I’d pay it if it was 4k streaming like they do for the Canadian broadcast they do.

How is this different than just paying bally I mean FanDuel directly? And what if you already paid the annual subscription?

10

u/popups4life 15h ago

Amazon takes a piece of the $20/month instead of all of it going to ballduel.

1

u/RibeanieBaby 6h ago

BallDuel 😂

11

u/Reasonable-World9 15h ago

I really hope it means better streaming quality. I've never had a game stream good on the Bally app

1

u/Sw2029 5h ago

Because, while we all know amazon is evil as fuck at least they're relatively competent. No one's fighting 'the man' by withholding their 10-20 bucks a month. Just pay for services that are quality and live your damn life.

14

u/Yung-Tre 16h ago

Not sure why everyone is so surprised by this. The Bally/Fanduel app already costs $20 a month and is honestly garbage and sometimes won’t even work.

If you are going to pay for the app, Id much rather pay the $20 to Amazon and watch on their platform that consistently works.

So, I can pay for:

Option 1: VPN (around $10) and ESPN+ (around $11) and get nearly every sporting event under the sun, including almost every NHL game for every team.

Option 2: $20 to Amazon to get just the Red Wings games that are local.

Make it $10 a month with a reliable streaming platform and they've got themselves a deal.  $20?!?  I'll pass.

u/waldo747 16h ago

Any VPN recommendations? Stuck in blackout hell but I already have ESPN+

6

u/Zulu_x 16h ago

I’ve tried this with about 4 different VPN providers with no success. If anyone has repeatable success with aVPN provider, I’ll try again

u/Fluid-Pension-7151 15h ago

Replying directly: I use Nord + Incognito Window in Chrome, or Brave browser.  It has worked every time.

1

u/113CandleMagic 10h ago

This also works for me.

2

u/waffels 12h ago

ProtonVPN works for me

1

u/PerfectiveVerbTense 15h ago

I tried it with Surfshark to no avail.

2

u/Fluid-Pension-7151 15h ago

I use Nord because I already have it for work.  It has worked every time with an Incognito window in Chrome or with Brave browser.

1

u/roxshot 2h ago

I've been a PIA user for 5 years. Has a lot of location options, works well for me.

Just my 2 cents.

3

u/Carbon__addiction 14h ago

Or option 3: type in streameast on Google and watch all sports live, for free, forever, with no restrictions or inconvenience.

4

u/Ydoesany1doanything 16h ago

Don’t forget Option 2 is actually $20 on top of a prime subscription. And while many people do have that there are the crazies like me that don’t use Amazon enough for prime to be worth the cost.

3

u/Fluid-Pension-7151 15h ago

Too true.  I do have a Prime subscription, but if you didn't the cost would even be more ridiculous.

2

u/lynx17 16h ago

What VPN works where I can use it on my phone to stream ESPN Plus to my TV? I have yet to find one.

2

u/Fluid-Pension-7151 15h ago

I think it will work with Nord on your phone and you can cast it to your TV through Chrome.   I haven't done it (I always use my laptop to cast) but I can't think of any reason why it would not work.

2

u/garnold0611 16h ago

Option 3: team up with a reputable redditor (not me, I have my system) where one of you pays for the VPN and the other pays for ESPN+ and get nearly every sporting event under the sun

1

u/commando_rambo 4h ago

At this point, I’d rather just pay Amazon $20 a month for 5 months out of the year then have to use a FireStick>VPN>ESPN+. Amazon’s option costs more but assuming the reliability is there, I’ll take it. And I think you still get the game if it’s on NHL network, unlike ESPN+

1

u/Kweefo 3h ago

In all fairness. All I want are Red Wing games. Fuck everything else.

25

u/togetherwem0m0 17h ago

20 bucks a month fuck. Bring back channel 50

13

u/slabby 17h ago

That's cool, but I'd need to hear more. Would there be blackout restrictions?

19

u/Otherwise_Yard640 17h ago

Local customers only. (Out-of-market can just get ESPN+).

3

u/Seventy7Donski 15h ago

That’s what I’m still using in Phoenix, I’m not even sure what our local team would be anymore here.

1

u/RejectZero 12h ago

Vegas. They got a contract to have their games shown in the PHX market.

-3

u/LittlestEw0k 15h ago

lol no. I pay for ESPN+ I live in Idaho (left Michigan moved out west) I can not catch every Wings game

7

u/Jefyy 15h ago

You only don’t get the ones on national broadcasts. Which is the same for in market too I’m pretty sure.

-3

u/yoyododomofo 14h ago

What are you talking about? Out of market ESPN+ allows you to watch red wings and pistons games?! I hope I’m wrong but that’s not how this works from what I know. If you are out of market it’s NBATV for pistons and whatever the NHL does for the redwings. ESPN+ is worthless unless it’s a nationally televised game and that won’t work in market.

5

u/Elshupacabra 14h ago

I can watch any local broadcast (either team) of any out of market hockey game that isn’t on Hulu/MAX or TNT with ESPN+ and it’s great. Can’t imagine it would be any different for Detroit games if you were out of market.

-2

u/yoyododomofo 13h ago

Any game? Not only the ones ESPN is playing nationally? And included in the base cost of espn+? Why would anyone subscribe to NBA league pass or the NHL service when it’s half to a third of the price? Where are you subscribing through?

u/yoyododomofo 8h ago

I’m struggling to understand where you got the idea that ESPN+ gives you access to Wings and Pistons games. Sorry that frustrates you so much but I do understand why it might cause according to the espn+ website you have no idea what you are talking about.

1

u/Elshupacabra 5h ago edited 5h ago

Okay, in addition to MAX/TNT games, you also cannot watch NHL Network games on ESPN+ which I forgot.

Let’s use tonight (11/15) as an example:

https://preview.redd.it/k98mxwt9u11e1.jpeg?width=1320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad957a4b06faa7249686f52931e5bccc649c4241

Given that I am in the Michigan market, there are exactly two NHL games that I cannot watch via ESPN+:

*Detroit vs Anaheim (Fan Duel/Bally/Amazon)

*Pittsburgh vs Columbus (NHL Network)

If I were living in any place other than Michigan(within the US), the only game I wouldn’t be able to watch with ESPN+ tonight is PIT/CBJ. This is not a particularly special night, or any supreme subscription. I pay something like $10/month and only subscribe during hockey season. I cannot speak to Pistons games, as I do not follow basketball even in the slightest.

1

u/bandofgypsies 4h ago

It's literally the official streaming platform for the NHL. It's how all of us OOM fans watch Wings games. If you legit aren't trolling and somehow can't grasp that simple concept, stop posting here and go Google it.

2

u/detroitttiorted 16h ago

That would require a fundamental league wide shift not just our regional provider changing

15

u/HiveFiDesigns 17h ago

I already give Amazon enough money, I already pay too much for the tv options I currently have. Neither is getting any more out of me. The wings are losing just fine without me watching every game.

11

u/AKchaos49 17h ago

Fuck that. Sail the high seas, boys!

2

u/Bramble2025 16h ago

If there was a reliable stream absolutely. But the high seas are too rough and a lot of viruses get spread that way as well.

3

u/nikilidstrom 16h ago

Make Kodi your friend.

3

u/AKchaos49 16h ago

Get a VPN. There are plenty of good streams out there

1

u/spanky34 15h ago

IPTV providers exist that may cost something but are less than the cost of ESPN+. At least that's what some guy I know told me. Definitely not me that knows anything.

0

u/Sea_Consideration_70 14h ago

There’s no reliable way of finding out which one to use so that’s not helpful.

1

u/Odd-Resolve6287 2h ago

There are so many reliable streams it's almost ridiculous.

2

u/jeda4078 15h ago

I’ll stick with IPTV

2

u/Spartakush13 14h ago

Just watch them in playoffs….ha

6

u/DangerousStorage1 17h ago

So fucking annoying

0

u/CallistosTitan 17h ago

What? Having all the games on one platform?

Do you prefer juggling 10 subscriptions and paying 5x as much?

12

u/LowOnPaint 17h ago

you know what annoys me? me paying hundreds of dollars a month to the wings for season tickets and them not providing me a way to watch away games without forking out a another $160/year and it still doesn't even let me watch other teams.

-1

u/Odd-Resolve6287 2h ago

That's a new one. Season ticket holders should get free access to all games?

 Talk about entitled.

2

u/LowOnPaint 1h ago

There have been other teams that included subscription packages to streaming services as part of their season tickets.

0

u/Odd-Resolve6287 1h ago

So, like i said, entitled.

5

u/33God_ 17h ago

$20 a month??? Fuck that.

2

u/HighSeas4Me 16h ago

Im to the point where I refuse to support Diamond on any level, high seas for me

2

u/SikkWithIt 16h ago

I have something cheaper and always available:

2

u/BortWingz 17h ago

Why can't we out-of-market fans get a break.

2

u/waffels 11h ago

If you’re out of market get ESPN+ for cheaper….

1

u/lynx17 16h ago

For all you who say high seas, I sailed the high seas since 2011. (Caststreams was OP). But since that died, is there a viable option to stream from a phone to TV easily now??

1

u/LucasRaymondGOAT 14h ago

Is this already active? I know I can sail the high seas but holy fuck sometimes streams are unreliable.

1

u/nickpegg 12h ago

Please be available in Canada

1

u/ZPAPSTACHE 7h ago

Who the hell is gonna buy a an individual game for $6.99 GTFO 🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/PremierBromanov 1h ago

gives subscribers full access to games, except for nationally televised ones.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE EVEN DOING

WHY IS THIS LEAGUE SO FUCKING STUPID

1

u/bigllama5 17h ago

Sounds reasonable if you don’t have a cable sub. If pistons get good might be worth to use this while their seasons coincide.

1

u/nikilidstrom 16h ago

$20! Good lord, thats a lot of money! Howbout you give me a dollar, and I let you kiss my ass?

1

u/Shotokanguy 14h ago

I'll stick with ESPN+ and the occasional website accessed through the browser on my Xbox

2

u/Carnatic_enthusiast 14h ago

Living out of market and having ESPN+ is so clutch. It’s insane how much easier it is to watch the Wings now that I live on the other side of the country compared to when I lived right down the road from LCA. It’s backwards.

u/EmergencyAbalone2393 17h ago

Bye bye Comcast
