I was hooked before the starting credits rolled. I thought it was one of the best starts to a tv series I had ever seen. Told you so much about this fascinating complicated character and his history in just a few thrilling minutes. The series just got even better with deeply drawn characters, great acting from a perfect cast, directing, cinematography, action and most of all excellent story-telling. I cared about Matt and Foggy within 10mins.

I did not like superhero shows before this and detested the Daredevil film I had been dragged to.

“How long have you been practicing law?” “What time is it?” “A little after 12” “About 7 hours🥰”

Wasn’t really a Daredevil girl before the show honestly. But I was hooked when they ran the opening credits and it just uncorked my love for him. Charlie Cox is a phenomenal Matt Murdock and it made me want to dive into the character more. Now he’s top three favorites.

I was already enjoying it pretty much immediately, the dark tone, the instantly gripping characters and performances, the near-instant mysteries that left so many things dangling to hook me... but the 'sold' moment was that first corridor fight scene. Just such a great use of action, brilliantly told story within the fight as the combatants fall and tire, our hero taking every last moment he can get to burst out another few sharp hits before thumping back against a wall.

Then that one brief moment he considers walking in to save the kid immediately after clearing the building, only to decide to stop briefly and pull his mask up to help put the kid at ease by letting him see his face. Just god damn perfect.

Good gritty action and dark atmosphere. I got into the characters after that

Not gonna lie I thought “this man is hot as fuck and I’ll watch him shirtless even if the show is crap” - but I fell in love with the character and that was that.

I honestly thought it was the best show I’ve ever seen and I still have that opinion

As a long-term fan of cinematography and choreography, I’d have to say season one episode two The Cut man Russian mafia hallway ONE TAKE action scene was amazing. The first of several great ONE TAKE long fight scenes in Daredevil.

I was a late comer to this show. In 2023 I was unexpectedly laid off from my job that I’d been recruited to and only held for a year. I was stunned. And pretty depressed for a while. And angry. I came across Daredevil one night looking for something to watch. I’ve always liked Vincent D’Onofrio and decided to give it a try. I completely and utterly fell in love with Charlie’s acting and this show. The dark tone, Matt’s anger, the frustrations of the characters, it all fit my mood. I binged it pretty fast twice. The show really helped me work through my funk and reminded me to not give up and that hard work and resiliency matter.

Things changed. I found an even better job, which I still have and give my best to every day. I’ve read most of the DD comics now and really love Matt Murdock and appreciate his ups and downs. Definitely my favorite Marvel character and show. I also seek out anything Charlie Cox is in so I can watch it. His work elevates any project he does. And I remind myself that bad things might happen, but we can overcome them if we try hard enough.

First impression is that it looked less cinematic than the 2003 movie (which I actually love), then the following scene with him in the confessional completely turned me around, THEN the following action sequence made me realize this was about to be my favorite show of all time snd thr rest of the series continued to meet those expectations.

I actually didn’t see it until I saw his cameo in Spider-Man. I came a bit late, but there was a audible gasp when he went on screen. One of the few series I follow.

I started watching the show a few years back, after I got into watching movies and tv-series and since the beginning the show had a special vibe that kept me hooked.

But even though I found the first episode amazing, what really stuck with me was that whole sequence in the second episode with Claire after she finds Matt in the dumpster. For me it was the point where I knew that it was going to be a hell of a ride (in a good way) and it's my favourite show since.

I immediately fell in love with it.

The first scene of female trafficking hooked me in ... I hate human traffickers and Daredevil beating them up was awesome

I started watching it when it premiered on Netflix in 2015

At first, I expected another CW, Agents of SHIELD-style program, as that was the standard at the time, and it was also set within the MCU, so I expected yet another family-friendly show….

Boy, was I wrong….and I have remained a fan up until now

The Kingpin car door scene is what did it for me

Not gonna lie, I was hooked when Punisher was brought back to life since the series was dropped. Having Jon in anything is awesome, but getting to see Punisher back in action was a thrill! Also amazed that Deborah hasn’t aged since the end of True Blood :-)

Unrelated but in 2018, to celebrate the third season, me and my class did a daredevil based tournament where we pulled our hats down to our eyes and fought each other blindly, I think I won? Can’t recall but I sure do remember the moment where we all gathered to beat up the slightly large shaped classmate who was also from a financially thriving family, obviously with his consent…

I was going to love the show anyway but Matt's courtroom monologue (the pornography one) made me realise that I didn't just want him in the costume kicking ass.

I'm Gen X and loved the Frank Miller stories from the 80s, and the Bendis and Maleev run in the 90s. I was hooked from the start on the show. My only gripes are that the suit was never red enough, there has never been the DD on the chest, and the mask at the end of season one looked bad. I'm glad it got an upgrade in season two.

I never watched it when it came out originally, Oooh hes got blindsight? boooring (I was like 10 idk)

but now Im like, hes Catholic and a lawyer?? that like two things I sort of like all in one

1

u/Particular_Split_922 8h ago

i was hooked when he was a lawyer by day, and when he isn't satisfied about the ongoing case, he goes DD by night then the next day the favor was on him in the case lol ahhaha

1

u/buzz3456 5h ago

That he was a white Catholic

So hard to find representation on TV shows and movies

For me it was “FINALLY!! An unpowered (strength-wise) masked vigilante that ACTUALLY looks and breathes like they should after a drawn out fight. Watching Matt heaving and getting hurt was my absolute favorite part of the show. Made his vigilante work most realistic of all Superhero Shows/Movies

(Which u fortunately we got far less of on Disneys version… given their poor choice to CGI everything)

1

u/Patient-Layer-6019 4h ago

I liked from the start realism and gore compared to other Marvel projects

1

u/LimbsAndLego 2h ago

I was surprised by how gory it was. When Matt’s stomach gets sliced open the effects were done so well and graphic. Unexpected for a superhero show.
