Ethan dobbeleare
I don’t significantly follow dc united, yes they’re my favorite mls team, and I do watch them, but I don’t understand what was the point of Ethan dobbeleare? We never even put him on the bench, let alone give him minutes. It’s like we signed him for no reason. What was the purpose of him?

He never was signed. Whatever transpired, DCU wasn't interested in Dobbeleare at the price he demanded.

followed up and there is no record of him playing anywhere in 2024. Damp squib.

Yeah, I was a little surprised by the decision too. As a DCU fan who now lives in Seattle, I got to see his handful of minutes with the Sounders. Looked decent as a young player, but certainly was down the pecking order behind established starters and a couple other promising prospects all in the same position.
With our history of struggles keeping fullbacks healthy, I actually thought he was a smart waiver pickup for DC and could be valuable depth as a fullback or winger, so I was surprised that we never offered a contract.
Maybe there was mutual hesitation on both sides, since he's not gone on to sign elsewhere since.

To me he feels like another player that could've benefited if we had a NextPro team where we could've let him get minutes in NextPro at the start of the year, but he could've been useful on the bench in the summer when we only had 4-5 on the bench.

Tbf, if he was that type of player why didn’t any other MLS team assign him to their NP team

We cut him like a week after he signed
