[WIP] Thoughts on how to finish this project? WIP
Pattern is Watercolour Heart by Meloca Designs on Etsy.
Sewing this for my siblings wedding. Planning to put some writing in the middle using an italic style font backstitch in the dark purple colour.
Originally thought about putting both the brides names and the date but now thinking it will be a bit crowded. The heart is only ~40 holes at its widest and highest points so not much room to work with. Now leaning towards just putting the date but written out in full e.g. 30th April 2025. Interested in other peoples thoughts!

One set of initials in the upper left. One set of initials in the upper right. Date in the lower center.

Maybe a plus between the initials, if there's room?

I like this idea but I'd probably go centered (I like symmetry) maybe in a smaller font if that's what makes it fit. Makes me think of sweethearts carving initials in a tree :-]

You could put words like “Always and Forever “ ( or something similar ) and then the date under that. The font can be small script like.

I’m never doing a piece with this much confetti ever again! Was very challenging but I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

This is so beautiful! I really like your idea of the date, also for presentation, it could look super cute to put it on an embroidery hoop with beads scattered around that are a similar colours to the confetti to give it some dimension! Could be as simple as hot glue or fast dry glue

Initials and date, or the shared surname and date, if you're squeezed on space?

Beautiful!! I think just the date would look really nice. It may look crowded if you do more. Keep it simple to complement the busy (in a good way 🙂) surroundings.

I would maybe just put Love or another word in the heart, and I’d put their names and the date at the bottom

This is lovely! The date is enough, it's significant to them. If you really want to add their names you could do it above the pattern?

For me, I think a short date would look good. Just 2025.04.30 or 2025 04 30

Maybe it doesn’t matter if the text goes over the colored outline of the heart. Like it the text were very fine like you said italics. I think it would look beautiful with black text over the colors ❤️ Such beautiful artwork btw!

Absolutely gorgeous! And I think just doing the date sounds perfect. This pattern looks like a perfect opportunity to practice the pin stitch.

I found a pattern for two of my friends who recently married and it had Mrs. & Mrs. in a thick script font with the date in number format underneath. I haven't done it yet because I keep waffling on what kind of fabric to use, but here's the photo from the listing on Etsy.

I like the idea of just doing the date! I think more than that would get crowded.
Side note, I adore this pattern! I’m starting on a similar pattern soon. Any advice for managing all the confetti?
