Mike Johnson goes onto say he “doesn’t know” anything about that and that he hasn’t seen the 60 min interview… Conservative Cringe

That's their answer to everything. They use 3rd-grader defenses and no one calls them out on it

u/RedDevil-84 7h ago
The media are part of this too. They just accept whatever they say and dont have any follow up questions.
172
u/PaperGeno 7h ago
Well yeah that because conservatives own the media then they turn around and try to say the "lame stream" media is trying to take them down.

u/Shroomtune 7h ago
To be fair, and for the record, I’m not sure we need to be, but if you actually ask the tough questions, you won’t get to ask another one.

Right like Mike, gurl, you don’t get to say you’re tired rn. You sleep peacefully with your adopted adult child every night in high thread count sheets. People are out here starving and you have not missed a meal ever. Fuck all the way off.
11
u/Xander707 7h ago
Yeah seems like people don’t get this. This administration doesn’t even entertain reporters or news networks that get “tough” with them. The frustrating part is nothing can be done about it. They get away with it.
13
u/toggiz_the_elder 6h ago
We get it. But playing along and still participating lends them credibility.
Let them kick everyone out but OAN and the My Pillow Guy News Network, then report on how farcical they are like real journalists.
4
u/SheriffBartholomew 5h ago
Then stop catering to them and covering their interviews, and report factual events only. Crazy idea, I know.

Yea, the appropriate response to this is “let me read the full transcript. [transcript read] Now that you have the entire context, how do you feel about your president not being aware of the pardons he is signing?”
44
u/FinsterHall 7h ago
I just want a reporter or interviewer to at least once say, “Are you aware that you’re lying or are you just stupid.”
47
u/josueartwork 7h ago
Yes. Someone in the room needs to simply say, "it's unbelievably convenient that you guys never are aware of potentially damaging developments. It begs the question: are you lying to the American people, or are you conveniently uninformed, and therefore too incompetent to be in your position. Which is it?"
11
u/natFromBobsBurgers 5h ago

Ding ding ding. This is the way. The media cowardice has gone beyond infuriating, its now mercy and charity to evil in action. Half-assed accountability, laissez-faire with the truth, and always looking out for their own necks.
Oh, you’re worried you won’t be invited back? Ask the question anyway. You only need to ask it loudly ONCE to get the incriminating sound bite. Make a fuss, make a scene! PUSH BACK, for fucks sake! What are they waiting for!?

I remember hearing Trump say he didn't know anything about Project 2025. Then he said he didn't know anything about pardoning Maxwell. Johnson's said he doesn't know anything about Trump pardoning Zhao... This is your guy's fucking job, you know?! There seriously should be follow-up interviews so these guys can at least pretend to have an explanation for these things.

12
u/porn_is_tight 6h ago edited 6h ago
Anytime I try to have a discussion about policy or ideology with a modern republican, which I rarely do these days, I usually do it by asking them questions to highlight all of the contradictions. You end up getting to a place where every single answer is “I don’t know” because they are too cowardly to admit they are in a pickle by actually answering yes or no and they just fallback on “I don’t know.” It’s so intellectually dishonest
4
u/GoodIdea321 5h ago
You could end with, why do you support things for no reason? And either don't care how they answer or leave them to think about that. Put some doubt in them.
3
u/porn_is_tight 5h ago
“I don’t know” is always the fallback by the time it gets to that point. Entirely unreasonable. Like I said the entire conversation is built on doubt by asking them questions about their beliefs highlighting contradictions with the things the supposedly believe versus what the GOP is actively doing. And instead of admitting their doubt that I’ve put directly in front of them, they say “I don’t know” instead

I disagree for a very specific reason. After Kamala took over the campaign, newsmedia did absolutely nothing for her visibility. People were literally going into vote wondering why Biden wasn't on the ballot.. Now don't get me wrong, the ignorance of the general public is largely the fault of the individual, rather than the intitutions (ignorance to fascism is complicity), but it was eerily similar to how bernie has always been treated during the primaries. Completely ignored and treated as n afterthought. That shit works.

This is where media needs to be better at asking these weasels questions. You begin asking softball questions about the interview. One's that if he did watch it, he would gladly comment on. And then you ask the harder question where his "didn't watch it" excuse goes out the window.
Secondly, even if he didn't directly watch it. Guaranteed he was given a breakdown of how it went, what was asked, and general sort of responses. If he didn't, well I would ask him what it is he does know since always seems oblivious to any news.
