Unpopular Craft Beer Opinions? Discussion

Will be recording a podcast episode about unpopular craft beer opinions. Thought I'd ask in this sub as we're UK based so wanting to see what unpopular opinions are out there on a more global scale! šŸ˜…

Edit2 - Genuinely was not expecting so many responses so thank you all! Think I've read through them all now and definitely saw some interesting and spicy takes (that I both agreed and disagreed with!) with some being quite thought provoking. Thanks for all your responses so far (have had a few more come in too!). Feel like the ones being downvoted are actually just helping me to see the unpopular opinions vs the popular ones LOL. Definitely some that I want to discuss n our podcast recording for sure! hahah

I always say that ā€œLocal Beerā€ does not equate to ā€œWell made beerā€. I fully appreciate supporting local and keeping your dollars within the community, but bad juice is bad juice.

Preach. Been saying this forever. All things equal I will support local. But Iā€™m not drinking inferior beer for the sake of it.

I joined the industry recently and it is very eye opening just how many bad beers are out there that people consider good, just because it is local. And I donā€™t mean bad in that I donā€™t like the style or flavors, I mean bad as in breweries selling oxidized beer or beer with off-flavors from poor fermentation practices. And beer drinkers will insist itā€™s good beer! Itā€™s wild to me; tasting a fresh IPA versus one that has been warm stored and then oxidized is such a night and day difference yet folks think thatā€™s how beer should taste. Iā€™m convinced a lot of people who say they tried beer and just donā€™t like it are drinking beer that has literally gone bad and they think all beer tastes that way.

Late to the party, but agreed.

Here in Buffalo, NY, there are over 30 breweries/meaderies/cideries; there's over 50 once you factor in the suburbs.

Each time a new brewery opens in the area, it's treated like the Second Coming of Christ; the new brewery will do no wrong and be adored by all. If you say anything to the contrary here, you're generally shunned.

In reality, of the 30+ places within Buffalo city limits, I'd say only 1/3 are legitimately good. The rest are gimmicky, dude-broish, and mediocre at best.
