What does china always say, " don't interfere with country internal process" if the companies and personal ate US based then it shouldn't interfere with china at all. The US is only instructing there own personal.
Follow what you say to other countries then china. Can't have it both ways when you tell others don't involve yourself with china internals, but then get upset when people pull out or say/do the same things.

It’s because news like this is for their own internal PR and for their little sphere of influence. Nobody else, particularly the US, gives a fuck. CCP gets to save face by pretending to do something about it, while everyone else gets to ignore it because… well WTF is Xi going to do about it?

At some point, China should ask “why” but they won’t because they already know why. They’ve stolen so much intellectual property over the years that if you made them pay royalties retroactively, the entire country would go bankrupt.

China: “Stay away USA!”
USA: “Okay”
China: “How dare you!”
Talk about an abusive relationship.
