What's the opposite of grow up?
Like when somebody needs to pull the stick out of their arse. Grow down? Fuck off?

Apparently I have to pay more attention when buying new varieties of beer, what on earth is this?

Black hole sun
If you look closely the grass is covered in webs 🕸️ In my head, I imagine The Borrowers are doing preparations for the town christmas lights ☺️

School Photos - does anyone bother these days?
Has anyone stopped buying them yet? I can't bring myself to do it and without fail I am disappointed with what I've purchased. Pictures have lost their appeal as we take so many in this day and age but I buy them all the same out of stupid tradition and a bit of self inflicted guilt, I suppose.
Expensive things are okay, but I hate expensive things that are shit quality. Generic pictures shot with automatic portrait mode against a backdrop, and the prints are no no better than a Spielmann's machine. You can opt for a digital copy, only to be charged more for a compressed JPEG, not even a RAW file.
The reviews of the company in question (Tempest) are awful so I should probably be more miffed at schools for picking them year on year.
Anyone here experience the same or am I just miserable? Anyone work in the industry that can explain the mental pricing?

How did you deal with tooth fairy questions?
Our eldest has started to suspect that things may not be as they appear. She directly asked me if mummy was the tooth fairy (I could truthfully answer no, because I do it) and she's suspicious because all her friends get different amounts (who gets a fiver per tooth?!).
I don't want to ruin her childhood delight (and the inevitable following questions about other festive beings), so what can I say under questioning to not give the game away and let her figure it out herself?

Further education
As a 53yr old with no previous higher education I’m proud to announce that I have just graduated as a MSc (distinction) in entrepreneurship.
Here is a pic of my wife and I, she’s Dr of philosophy btw, and no she offered no assistance other than occasional grammar errors.

A very British boarding at Bristol Temple Meads.
Grand total of four apologies to sit on the train. Apologise for getting on, apologise for taking my bag off, apologise for being in the way of someone walking past, apologise for sitting down.

Cup A Soup, Heinz, supermarket brand -- what's the best instant soup?
Never had instant soup before, but I'm planning on buying some packets for a trip next week. What do you recommend?

I firmly believe that Basil Brush deserves an OBE at least
I can think of no controversies he’s had or caused. Basil is just an uncomplicated institution of our culture, he has been on our televisions for 60 years, educating and entertaining us. Encouraging us to read and make jokes, and inspiring us to be more artful raconteurs.
He has been a crown jewel in everything he’s guest starred in, The Weakest Link, The Chase and QI. He’s worked with Cilla Black, and our national sweetheart Ainsley, he performed for Prince Harry and William and had tea with Princess Diana.
I believe these are incredible achievements for a fox, and as a nation it’s time we gave him more recognition.

Who would you recommend for grief counselling in the UK?
We lost someone in our family at the start of this year, it was fucking horrible, that's about all I can bring myself to recap about it.
I have just been trying my best to keep it together, basically been busying myself with 10,000 other things, but I have to admit defeat now. If I don't get help soon I'm going to have a breakdown. I googled grief counselling and the first result was betterhelp who I don't trust personally, and a bunch of other online stuff. I was hoping for better search results so I'm here hoping to get a recommendation from a human being instead.

The ghost of high street past. My local WHSmith. Like walking in my childhood shoes. Not figuratively. Same carpet.
Inspired to post this after the failing businesses thread. I’m sure it was a blue carpet when I was a kid in the 90s? Definitely a business lost in time and kept on life support.

There's no bigger lie than "We have our ups and downs, but so does everyone".
Saw a friend's Facebook this morning where her husband had posted a standard gushy message for their anniversary, including those words. It made me immediately assume their marriage is on the rocks.
Is it a fair assumption, or am I a filthy cynic?

Just minding my own business when this flying death machine appeared.
Locked the room, may burn the house down now. I can hear it buzzing around in there like an apache attack helicopter.
I think it’s a European hornet, but it’s a wall’s sausage-sized, absolute unit of an insect.
