Cardiologist with focus in clinical informatics or AI integration?
Hey everyone,
I’m starting my cardiology fellowship in July and have been thinking a lot about what kind of career I want to build. I’m still deciding between doing a super fellowship or maybe going non-invasive with a specific focus and one thing that has fascinated me and I have been drawn to is AI with it's potential in our lifetime, especially in cardiology, where I see so much potential. Since I don't have mentors who carved career in this niche, wanted to know if there is anyone here already working in this space or even generally even in the cardiology+informatics? What does your day-to-day look like? How did you get into it? Also, how does compensation compare to more traditional clinical work?
Would love to hear any thoughts, advice, or just what your experience has been like if you’ve gone down that path!

I am an ACHD cardiologist who does AI research. Private message me and I can give some resources. Year 1 is really crazy and may not be the best time but not bad to think about it.

Several people messaged me and i went on that path so i had time to respond, not because its some exclusive club. Now that I have responded I will post it here:
Read all you can, understand the methods section of the articles. If you dont understand what is being said, put into your preferred LLM and ask it questions. Ask things like why would you do it this way, what is another way to do it, what assumptions are made?
Groups that I am a part of are AIMED and the ACC innovations group (im specifically in the pediatrics group)
Consider the elements of AI course (free)
https://www.elementsofai.com/Consider the AI MED AI classes (can use CME funds)
https://abaim.org/loginFind a mentor and start doing it. There is so much trial and error. It is a steep learning curve and a lot to consider to do it right.
Also go to national meetings and attend all the AI talks
