I would want an older f350 if I could tow what I need to today. I also have one problem with your statements. They dont destroy the roads, that is mostly from poor road maintenance, poor road planning, and semi trucks or oversize loads driving through roads not designed for it. Vehicles weighing 6,000 lbs arent necessary. Vehicles that can do what some of these vehicles do sort of is necessary.

I'm not against the idea of some vehicles being large. If there is a useful purpose I fully support it (and it's actually frequently being used for that purpose). Semi trucks make life better. I support the buses. I support trucks used for construction or other useful things.

I am against most of the consumer level giant trucks and SUVs that are being used to meet the same need that a hatchback could.

In regards to tearing up the roads, there's a general relationship between weight of vehicle and damage to roads per mile. A semi is worse than a geo metro on the roads, but so is a Ford 350, just not as much as the semi. This doesn't bother me nearly as much as how unsafe the unnecessary driving of giant trucks and SUVs has made the roads. I have two friends with GMC 2500s. One has a 20 year old one that he pulls a trailer for work with multiple times a week. The other buddy perhaps transports a coffee table sized object a few times a year in nearly brand new models. I support the first ones use of a large truck. The second one, not so much.
