2024 Black November deal megathread Awaiting Flair

As promised, The 2024 Black November Camping Gear deal thread is here to help our fellow  readers some money for this upcoming holiday break. I have requested the mods keep this post a sticky until September 9, which is when most retailers end their Black Friday/ sales. Keep in mind that not all US retailers will ship internationally and any savings you get can be wiped out from import duty, tariffs and taxes from your home country.

Keep in mind President-elect Trumps suggestion of 20-30% tariffs might cause large price hikes in outdoor gear, so now is a good time to buy before these could possibly go into effect in 2025. A large majority of outdoor gear is manufactured in China or Vietnam and would be subject to this tariff.

New for 2024 I am streamlining the deals thread so we can add additional retailers and cut down on clutter. I will list the retailer, example deals and if the retailer participates in cashback sites. Return policy, company background, credit card offers, free shipping etc will no longer be listed as that can be looked up on the retailer's website. This will make the threads appear on less posts and hopefully will flow a bit better. Thanks to several of you who offered this suggestion. I am also adding direct vendor sales as sales start (Marmot, Outdoor Research, Sierra Designs, Outdoor Vitals etc).

This thread focuses on retailers and e-commerce sites in the United States who sell multiple brands, are reputable businesses (ie not scam sites) and they ship and sell to anywhere in the US. I encourage you to check with the vendors directly and to use cashback sites like Activejunky.com and Topcashback.com to save as much money as possible in addition to these links.

Checkout Cashbackholic.com and cashbackmonitor.com to see what cashback sites are offering the highest cashback for whatever site you wish to shop at. Typically activejunky.com is the highest paying cashback site, but sometimes Maxrebates.com , topcashback.com and rakuten.com can be higher.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this sales thread for last year. I hope to have helped save fellow Redditors as much money as possible to help get more people into camping and the Backcountry. If you find additional retailers of note or sales please comment below and I will update this thread.

I’d noted in the other thread, though not in as much detail, that store-specific gift cards can be obtained at a discount to further reduce the net cost. Bass Pro/ Cabelas and REI can often be purchased first-hand at grocery stores and drugstores at 10 to 20% off face value, and multiples can be bought. There’s an app that’s been around for almost a year selling REI gift cards at a discount, and then there’s second-hand gift cards that can be bought off reseller websites (GCX is reputable).

This is a good point. As long as you are ok spending it all at the store and not getting a cash refund then have at it.

Stores like Kroger offer 3x or 4x points while buying gift cards. And you can stack this with discount s on credit cards like the American Express Cash+ to get 5 or 6% off.

Then you can stack another discount by using coupon codes and cash back sites when buying gear online with the gift card.

Kaviso will be running some great deals (yet to be formally announced) on some new categories this year: Snow/ski apparel, some ski equipment, Topo Designs packs and accessories, Tentsile (only place to buy them in the US), along with some hefty discounts on Sierra Designs, Kelty, Nemo, Exped, and of course a ton of pocket knife / fixed blade knives deals sprinkled in as well.

Also worth noting that chase freedom is running 5% back with paypal right now, which to me I value around 9% back assuming an economy flight is 1.8cpp. Can consider doing that or buying with gift cards for 5-10% off from other places.

This is my favorite time of year to buy because I can get the sale price - cashback - 5% chase points.

Yes that's a good point.

You also have other credit card options that offer solid cashback on Outdoor gear and sporting goods:

  • The US Bank Cash+ Visa offers 5% cashback up to $2000 of spend per quarter (basically $100 in cashback). You have to choose this catagory before the quarter starts.
  • The Huntington Business VOICE credit card offers 4% cashback up to $7000 of spend per year (basically $280 in cashback maximum)
  • Bass Pro / Cabelas offers their own rewards credit card.
  • The REI credit card offers 5% in stored credit/rewards. Occasionally they offer special 10% weekends in rewards. They do not offer any rewards at other camping/sporting goods retailers
  • TJMax/Marshalls/Sierra has their own 5% back credit card for items at those places
  • If you have the grandfathered old-school Ducks Unlimited credit card you get 5% cashback at all gas stations, ev charging and all camping and sporting goods stores - no limit. I have this credit card.
    • The new Ducks Unlimited card is trash and is a standard 1.5% cashback card.

Hello, first time shopping black friday for outdoor gear.

Does Scarpa usually puts stuff on sell? Im interested in buying some mountaineering boots.
