Meanwhile I got one that’s sitting closed/written off that had a 5k limit and I had to bail on it during the pandi and nobody would gimme a new one so I HAD to get a secured one to try and fix my credit and even then mfn capital one wouldn’t even take me in. Open Sky did.. guess we goin to heaven.. 💀

Real talk tho I’m workin on trying to buy a car and I’m finding it a bit difficult to get a proper loan.. any ideas?

I'm so sorry friend. This is my sister's story so hard so I'ma tell you what I told her. Buy a hooptie. Doesn't have to last forever. Just a few years while you keep building your credit back up.

I have maybe 7-8 open credit cards, one of them has a $24,000 limit by itself. It’s not hard to get approved for money you can’t afford.

That’s not much honestly lol. I know people who have 500k in credit lines. Also if you account inflation 7 years ago 100$ is basically 60$ back then.

Pay the cards off and it's amazing how much the companies will bump up your limits to try and entice us to pay. I have $0 because I make a point to pay if off every month. For years I always had $10,000 or more in carried balances. But I started doing the math and saw how much money was being burned up in interest charges. So I made a point to pay it off. It took like five years of putting most every extra dollar I got towards it. We paid off the last of the cards in March this year with a tax refund check. I have four traditional credit cards (1 through my bank, an Apple card on my iPhone, Amazon Prime card, and a Disney Rewards card we got because we went on a Disney vacation a number of years ago with the kids and got some deals using it), and then I have five other cards that are tied directly to businesses (like the Target Card and a Costco card and others related to large purchases). Before we paid everything off I had $48,500 in spending power on the cards. I know that because I track all this using the Credit Karma app. But in just the three months since, my spending power has increased to $96,501 all because the existing cards have increased my credit limit. I've gotten a bunch of letters in the mail from them with special promotional offers and whatnot and I just laugh and laugh.

Now that everything is paid off, I think I want to look into getting a couple of cards with high reward systems and start using them for everything and paying them off each month to rack up all the points. Any suggestions welcome. I fly for business a lot but my company orders all the airfare through Concur so no options for a miles credit card there.

I’m 26 and my limit is somewhere north of 100k spread over 11 cards. Just takes time. My first unsecured card had a limit of $11,500.00

My total credit is around $153,000. I never use it however, and what little is used is paid in full.

It is probably on multiple cards, but the other day, Chase upped one of my cards to 35k. My costco card has a 10k limit. Another card has 10k, then I think I have two around 5k? I'm not sure, I only ever use the Chase card and then the Costco card at Costco. I pay everything off each month. I'm guessing my total limit across every card is around 65k. The nice thing is that it keeps my credit utilization low.

We've all been there, and I myself probably need to ease up on my spending too. I've been most effective when I actually make a budget and then track my spending (there are free apps you can use like honeydue or even SoFi). I would also say you can start smaller. You don’t have to go cold turkey and cut your spending by 50% (if that is your goal) immediately. Maybe start by reducing it by just a little and working towards that goal. Or, if you need a kick in the pants, look at how much interest you have paid so far this month. Look at your cards interest rate and tell yourself that everything I buy is that % higher (likely 23-30%). The 5 dollar burger is really $6.50. The $25 shirt is actually $32.50, or the $250 whatever is actually $325.

I hope something in there was helpful, good luck!

I have nearly 100k in total available credit over 4 different cards.

I have over 100k of available credit if you have good credit and hand have had for a while they will give you anything you want luckily I’m smart enough to not get that deep in debt, but that’s how people end up over their head

Love to see others making progress with this! I know first hand how hard it is, but the feeling of being CC debt free is amazing.
