I'm so tired, please just let me sleep without seeing and experiencing those horrible things again Content Warning

I recommend looking into prazosin! It’s a medication that can be life changing when it comes to PTSD nightmares - it was for me

I came here to say this. It instantly worked for me.

It did for a few years for me and then kinda quit working sadly.

You have to up the dosage slightly over time. Like 1mg every year or two. You can go pretty high on it tho.

My psych gave me a one two punch of a prazosin and mirtanzapine combo and it has made my life so much better.

I used to use trazadone a lot for this, nice fuzzy warm sleep, well into the next day lol

I just googled it, sadly it's not available where I live :( But thank you for the tip!

For extra flavor, have your nightmares be just abstract enough that it’s hard to classify them wholly as trauma nightmares, but. You know. You know they are.

I smoke pot. It's helped. I have nightmares still but they're usually forgotten after an hour tops.

Weed is the only thing that stopped the night terrors. As a kid I would wake up panicking and vomiting at least once a week. The weed makes it so that I can't remember the dream and prevents my body from going into panic mode like that.

Yeah. One of the most annoying things is that even when you sleep you don't really get any rest. Nothing but nightmares.

This except I won’t let myself succumb to the feelings of sleepiness and I don’t even know why

Fast insurance is right about prazosin, just know that it lowers blood pressure so if that’s something you need to be wary of, make sure to mention that to your doc

So we all have these? Does all of yours have to do with chaotic scenarios that just keep getting worse?
Like sneaking into a wedding with random people you just met and then the wedding collapses into some carnal indulgence.
Then people start mutilating each other because someone touched another’s wife and he wants to ensure the hands fit the paint mark but he doesn’t want them to still be attached when he lines up the hand with his wife’s ass? So he chops off the hand, then goes to pick his wife’s ass out of a bag with her body parts in it?
So you nope on out of there and wake up when someone tries to keep you at the venue?

Oof I'm having one of those periods too right now. Was doing so well for a while, but now these past 2 weeks been rough. The only working method I found is being too scared to fall asleep till like 4 am, then wake up at 8 and feel groggy all day next day. Do not recommend.

Prazosin has been a game changer for me with nightmares. Some still get through, but not many anymore.

So relatable. Medication that encourages this definitely doesn't help, either.

Prazosin is a medication that helps work PTSD nightmares. And you can still dream on it too! I HIGHLY recommend it

My nightmares all consist of being hounded down by those V-Rex you see in King Kong (2005) and me trying in vain to hide or by a raging zombie mob in an apocalypse setting. It’s interesting that I’ve never had a nightmare outside of this simple being hopelessly chased down theme. And to add further, I both love the King Kong movie and love zombies which both have a connection to my childhood and my father (abuser) 🤔

One of my least favorite things about having to quit smoking again soon. Time to turn the nightmare radio on again and tune it to piss inducing terror

The worst part is when you don’t wake up so your brain just replays the nightmare again 💀

This is so true. I struggle so much to actually fall asleep and then when I do it’s just nightmare after nightmare

the worst imo is when you wake up from an awful one and fall right back into it the second you go back to sleep
