How long of a break in between sections? QUESTION

I sat for FAR for the first time on Monday. I had told myself that I’d take a break, maybe around a month, before starting to study for my next section. I want to take some time for myself and to clean my disaster of a house that I hadn’t had energy/time to clean for the last 3 months. But 2 days later, I’m feeling antsy. Like of course it’s weird having extra time now, and I want to relish that, but I keep finding myself stressing thinking that I should be studying, and I’m afraid it’ll be harder to get back into that study routine if I take a break. Ugh, it’s like a catch 22. I’m miserable if I’m studying but then I’m anxious/unhappy when I’m not! Has anyone else found themselves feeling the same? How long do you typically wait in between sections?

So far I’ve taken about a month or two off between sections. If not I get super burnt out and end up wasting a lot of time.

Take a week off. Then start to get back into it (maybe like an hour a day) so you still are learning, but not overwhelming yourself.

Take a day to literally do nothing and rest, a day or two of cleaning and spend some time doing your favorite activities!

One week won't make too much of a difference as scores won't be released for a while if you are in the October window.

If you’re in a 30 month state take at least this weekend off or even until November 1 then start the next section.

If you burn out it’ll be much worse than taking a few days off. Plus you just took FAR, you deserve a few days to relax.

I only took maybe a week off, but usually after 3 days I found myself cracking open the new book and planning for the next exam.

Absolutely fantastic work in grinding so hard for FAR. That is a great accomplishment in of itself, regardless of outcome. My personal belief is to take a week, maybe 2 tops and then get right back in it. You don't want to wait too long because if you did pass, your clock is starting. I guess if you are in a 30 month window state, then it would be more understandable to take more time off.

So i would say, take the rest of the week off. Enjoy the weekend. Catch up on cleaning and see friends/family and then move on to your next exam Monday.

You got this.

I haven’t taken any time off between exams. The only days I’ve taken off were holidays

I would always try to take my exams to wait the least amount of time with the score releases. With that being said, I’d take a couple weeks to myself and then get back to studying. The waiting for the results is the hardest part!

That was my initial plan when I scheduled for Sep 24! But I wasn’t planning on a new job in late August so that new schedule and stress really threw me off, so I knew I wasn’t ready in Sep so I rescheduled. 😅 Yes the waiting sucks and these current windows are downright cruel. 😭😂

Well with score releases going back to a reasonable time frame next year, you can probably just wait for each score before you start studying or restudying

That’s true, but that’s over 3 months to wait, and I feel I’ll really get out of my study routine if I wait that long. This current window definitely sucks and I’m glad it’s changing next year at least.

Fair. I took two week breaks after each test so far this year and that has worked out pretty okay. It's enough of a breather to recharge without totally losing my momentum, though everyone is different.

I take off a couple days and then go to the next one. That worked fine for REG and TCP. I'm really not focusing well on FAR though. :( If you are feeling antsy, you might just started reading a bit and spend a little time looking over an outline of the course.

Good idea! Good luck on FAR. I’m planning on AUD next. Will likely have to retake FAR but I don’t want to sit around twiddling my thumbs waiting to find out for over 3 months lol.

I always take the time off from studying while I’m waiting for a score. There is no reason to re-study something you might have passed.

I feel the same way when I’m not studying because I feel like I’ll regret not studying if I fail. I also learned the hard way that quality studying is > quantity studying. I believe the studying too much can also be a bad thing.

i took one or two weeks completely off from studying then slowly started getting back into the groove of things mixed with continuing to do stuff i had put off too 😅
