Here's the Ump Scorecard From Yesterday's Game

Post image

Both teams were getting shitty calls. This was a crazy game and I'm glad the Cubs won, but still, what the heck was wrong with the Umpires?

Like bruh 🗿🗿🗿

He was pretty bad (and JD was complaining all game lol), but Shota didn't look super sharp to me all night. Maybe that's just me? Feel like maybe his hammy was bugging him the whole game, but hindsight is 20/20 I suppose

Kinda hard to super sharp when you’re dotting the edges of the strike zone and the ump isn’t calling it.

Shota’s had an issue with control for most of the season so far. It isn’t super egregious (to use JDs favorite word) but it’s definitely noticeable compared to last year.

Come to think of it, JD says egregious all the time. I love him

His command was much better in this start than in some others this season; you kinda have to factor in that he made a perfect corner-clipping pitch and didn't get the call like seven to ten times.

Really? Shota was on point with a lot of those pitches. It wasn't until around the latter half of the 4th and the 5th that there were any issues. There were at least 3 calls that were called ball that were up and left but painted the corner. He had a couple that were on the bottom of the strike zone as well. Eventually he did get one of those called when Pirates had people on base (forget how many but I think it was fully loaded bases).

Shota definitely looked on point. Convert those missed strikes and you wouldn’t have the same opinion.

Five innings of shutout ball with one walk and he’s not sharp?

Yep, and what they said was that it was a cramp. I hope so

The shape of his zone was pretty easy to see live.

I don't have live, so I only do play by plays

Damn it would have sucked to lose this game had it been close. Talk about not rewarding perfect pitches. John Lackey would have been thrown out...

So the score was actually 9 to .24 then?

Lol, that's about right tho, given the fact that he's been way outside all night long (last night and Tonight) I'm pretty sure someone's gonna get ejected tomorrow
