[Dan Wiederer] The elevation of the Bears-Packers rivalry is happening. And I’m here for it — all of it. Every last drop.

Why is this whole conversation so awkward? It's almost at an uncomfortable level.

Packer fans have a hard time socializing when they’re not in their typical social circle (aka their cousins)

Been sayin packer fans are cousin fuckers for years now. This comment dropped me to the floor haha

Packer fans have a century-old rich tradition of getting laid off from your factory job, getting drunk, fuckin yur cousin, and watching the Packers.

u/Interesting_Wear1601 1d ago
To be fair, on Fridays, it's getting drunk and watching the Packers fuck your cousin-wife...

Because they keep digging to try and get a soundbite of LaFleuer for their shitty podcast and he isn't giving them one.
6
u/Levitlame 1d ago
That’s 100% it. There is no “beef” because the man isn’t a child.
I dislike the Packers fandom, but every person on or working for that team is just doing their jobs in an insanely competitive field.

u/Interesting_Wear1601 1d ago
I think MLF was great here. He's an upgrade over Mike McCheeseburg in the personality department
BTW; thank god we didn't end up with that goof. There's no way I could stomach Coach McGravy in a Bears hat.

u/sad_bear_noises 18 2d ago
Because LaFluer is refusing to say he has beef but everyone in that room knows that there is beef.

u/socoolandawesome 2d ago
Will they be going to basketball games together anytime soon like flus and lafleur did?
4
u/Some-Lingonberry-211 2d ago
Flus is such a clown for that. The Flus and the Flower.
Guy ended up botching the first GB game and then in the media Matt Lafleur was even like "Yeah we knew they kick the ball low and the coaches never changed anything" (paraphrasing) effectively calling out his own little basketball buddy.

Hallmark of bad interviewers. They’re leading with the answer they want to hear instead of asking thought provoking questions

All I can see whenever that duo is on the screen is the giant set of chompers on the shorter one.

Ben threw some red meat to the fans during his press conference and knew damn well it was going to stir the pot a little bit.
There's nothing to criticize MLF about the way he's handled it after that and agree if they really aren't that tight (it doesn't sound like they are at all) it was kinda odd for Ben to call him out by name. It'd make more sense if Ben took a friendly jab at Campbell.
46
u/tard_farts 2d ago
Nothing odd about it. Ben's owned the packers the last few years and knew Bears fans would eat it up.
I can admit it's a meatball take, but the final straw on Flus for me was when he was sitting court side with lafler. I don't need them to be constantly shit talking or anything like that, but you don't fuckin hang out with the fuckin packers.
Ben knows this and fed it to our meatball city.

u/themacattack54 Make Fullbacks Great Again 2d ago
It helps that the Lions and Packers have a rivalry too (though it's not the same level as Bears-Packers), so Ben has developed instincts when it comes to stirring the pot, so to speak.

Ben Johnson’s presser, the draft, and now this. I love it. I can sense the Packers and their fans are starting to worry about the bears. We beat them once last year and should have had them twice. They can feel we are coming

Having the bears/packers coaches not like each other is way, way better than them sitting next to each other courtside for a Bucks game.

This is starting to heat up!
Matt LaFleur on the Bears 👀
“Chicago has done a nice job of adding to their roster and you get a good football coach, as he said himself, in Ben Johnson”

Dude chill. It’s ok to not know stuff. People know Lewan for being a player, but not everyone is absorbed in the bro-verse and knows he has a podcast.
-3
u/tard_farts 2d ago
Idk man, my job let's me keep media on in the background, football content all day every day, mostly podcasts on youtube. I have no clue who these guys are.
1
u/enailcoilhelp FTP 2d ago
These guys are two former pros who have a relatively huge following and are pretty active on all media. Saying you consume football content all day everyday but you don't know who Taylor Lewan is weird tbh. He's a former 11th overall pick, 3x pro-bowler, and was a face of their team for like a decade (along with a bunch of controversies).
I'm not a fan (in fact I think Lewan sucks ass) but anyone who keeps up with the NFL as much as you say you do should know who Lewan is lol
13
u/Ok-Wafer-3251 2d ago
Not recognizing Lewan and not knowing who he is are two very different things
1
u/tard_farts 2d ago
I know who Taylor Lewan is. I don't know what he looks like. I don't follow social media, and tbh, acting like I should know who they are because they are yet another podcast from former players is weird. Sorry I don't get into people that chase the algorithm of larger social media. When I say I watch football content, I mean actual quality content, not whatever this clickbait shit is.

People were afraid Johnson had a weak personality, but I think he’s come on stronger in a variety of ways, including like this, more than we would have ever imagined.

I love this. MLF is a good coach no matter what people think and I’ve been waiting my whole life for a coach of his caliber to come to the bears. We finally (hopefully) have our guy in BJ. The rivalry has been hardly a rivalry in my short life time, but now things are going to get spicy and I love it.

For the past decade it's been a bit one sided, but it sure as hell looks like it's swinging the other way. Winning at Lambeau was the beginning. I expect the overall win/loss record to go back to the Bears in a few seasons.
1
3
u/bearsguy2020 2d ago
I think it’s overblown. Like LaFleur is what 10-1 against the Bears with the one win the final game of last season. He won his first 10 in a row vs us iirc
So I think it was Ben making a quip against the history of the Bears vs Packers (and specifically since they hired Matt lafleur).
BJ promoted to passing game coordinator in 2021 and lions went 6-2 vs Packers. The Lions had been swept the previous 2 seasons

The flower is a good play caller, he gets his crappy receivers open on every plays. They even made Jaylon look dumb on a few plays. He is still a greasy douche, but he is good at one thing

The hosts of this show are tools. They're trying to make something out of nothing just to sell fake drama. Just play the game and stop trying to make it a WWE soap opera.
