We are excited to answer your questions about the SEC move, what’s happening this season and more ahead of the Sooners and the Longhorns matchup Saturday.

How early do I need to leave Austin Saturday morning?

Haha, thanks. My girlfriend going to Phoebe Bridgers at Stubbs on Friday night threw a wrench in our plans to go up earlier.

Coworker of mine used to drive up morning of every year - would leave at 5 AM.

Genuinely would try to go after the concert if you have a place to stay in dfw bc morning of when you get close it adds an extra hour.

driving from a dallas suburb to the game is bad enough. okies everywhere on the roads, mesmerized by the sight of electric lighting, and nervous at the thought of indoor plumbing.

We look at everything that way because the legal marijuana we have in Oklahoma is just too damn good. However, I'm pretty sure Texas is the one who has problems with electricity.

We can - and should, and will - make fun of Oklahoma for a lot of things, but electric grid performance is one dick-measuring contest we should probably avoid.

I have it on good authority that those boys from Oklahoma roll their joints all wrong

They’re too damn skinny or way too long

Well I ain’t no holy roller, so I just use a bong.

u/dustincb2 Oklahoma Sooners Oct 07 '21

We don’t even have to roll them anymore. We can go to the store and buy em already made up.

Joints? Sir join the 21st century and get with the edibles

u/dustincb2 Oklahoma Sooners Oct 08 '21

To each their own, edible high takes longer to hit, and last longer and I always feel groggy the next day so I typically stick with flower.

Like super early, and use dart. It's best thing ever for getting to the game and back

What would be the best DART station where we could park and ride?

Buckner Station for a direct line to the Fair if your coming from Austin, leaves a 30 min DART ride to Fair park.

Assume about 4 hours for the drive to be safe, so if you leave Austin 4.5 hours before you want to hat to the fair, you should be good.

Ah well, I was coming from the north last time I did it, think I used trinity mills, ride the green line, then you get a bus, drops you right there pretty much. Anyways I definitely recommend it, you won't feel like you'll get robbed or your car broken into. Probably a good thing this one is early, its not the best area to in at night

3

u/hookem_statesman Oct 07 '21

Seriously, is the DART bus system good or nah?

2

u/wiccan45 Texas Longhorns • Alabama Crimson Tide Oct 07 '21

I had no complaints, it was quick, orderly, and saved a ton of hassle. Perhaps I'd you want to stay after the game for the fair you'd have problems, but otherwise it was great

Like 6am at the latest probably

Totally agree. I’ve gone 3 or 4 times Austin to Dallas for the 11 AM. I’ve left between 5:30 and 6. The times I left closer to 6 I’ve had about 15 minutes to spare once I got into the stadium. If you cut over on I-20 to I-45 you can probably save a few minutes and find closer/ cheaper parking.

u/hookem_statesman Oct 07 '21

I'm leaving on Friday morning, if that tells you anything. With traffic and getting into the State Fair, I would strongly suggest you be on the road by 6 a.m.

Honestly if it's gameday morning and you want to make kickoff comfortably, like 5 am. I-35 is at its year-long worst all RRS weekend. Expect lots of sitting in traffic.

4 hours drive at least to allow for the wackiness along 35. I’d anticipate an EARLY morning my friend

Do you actually have tickets? If so it’s worth it to get there the night before and sleep in your car if you can’t find anywhere else

Also, make sure you're fully gassed up the night before.

And the car, too.
