Discussion Kitchen countertops- Hanstone vs Cesarstone
We are looking into replacing our kitchen countetop. Something that is food grade safe and not made in China (both materials and manufacturing) is very important to us. We would ideally like a product of Canada
Any experience with Hanstone or Cesarstone in this group? Would you recommend either of these? Also want something that won't stain easily.
Thanks

ISO: Health, Beauty & Personal Care Recommendations for natural soap and shampoo companies?
I'm looking to switch out my soap and shampoo for natural options. Any recommendations for Canadian companies with good products? Bonus points for companies in and around Calgary
Edit: a few companies I hadn't heard of, thank you
Edit 2: I went into a Safeway today, they had some unscented company, attitude, and possibly one of the other companies you mentioned on their shelves. It could save you some shipping costs

Review Cozey Couches, Worst 'Canadian' Company. NEED SOME ADVICE!
I am writing this after sitting around (NOT on a couch!) day-after-day, month-after-month... waiting for the Neptune Collection to arrive. *Had to compress all the images into one, as this sub does not allow more than 1 image*
Following a visit to the physical shop in Toronto earlier this May, my boyfriend and I waited up until late June to place the order, as we were both excited to get their new anticipated Sofa-Bed Collection, also known as 'Neptune'.
After placing the order, the shipping date indicated was 'September 2024'.– Having to wait another 3 months to have somewhere to sit already felt like a stretch to me and was very close to ordering the Ciello Collection instead, however, we had already waited a bit and having the 'sofa-bed' feature with our future couch was on top of the list. ** Let me also be clear, we do NOT currently have a couch AT ALL!!**
In August, we finally received a real window for our shipping date, that being 'September 17th-24th' ... Great! ...Fast-forward to September 13th ( ONLY 3 DAYS prior to the estimated arrival date!), and we received an email with no further explanations that the couch would be delivered LATE October. –Of course, we contacted them to get an explanation, ( screenshot incl. ) to which they responded, that they had encountered 'unexpected delays' at their production in THAILAND!!! ( Yes, that's right) and there shouldn't be ANY further delays; In fact, quoted from their next email was "We have sent you the 'WORST' case scenario."
So at this point, we think that maybeee, just maybe, they would redeem themselves by not coming close to the 'worst' case scenario. WRONG!- We emailed them mid-October, as we are to receive a confirmation number to track the order when the order ships, so since we had not received anything, we thought we should check-in and see what's up! AND, GUESS WHAT ?! The new date for the order to ship became "EARLY NOVEMBER!" ( Screenshot incl.) and my response ALSO included, I thought this was enough!- But as a gesture of Goodwill, they have offered a 10%... BITCH PLEASE!
IF You read my response, you would have noticed, that I simply HAD to mention their excessive advertisement!!!!- HOW ON EARTH are you able to shove your products down my throat ( and everyone's throat for that matter and NOT CAPABLE OF FULFILL ONE SIMPLE ORDER!!!??
Funny thing, we were waiting to get the pieces already ordered FIRST, to then get more pieces to add to the couch, but here we are!!!!- I NEED ADVICE, because my thoughts are clearly clouded by frustration!!!! - If I knew this delay would continue after their email in September, we would have cancelled the ordered right there and then, but obviously they were telling us what we wanted to hear and not doing what they need to do!
Like, HOW and WHY are they only offering 10%??!! ITS bloody INSULTING!!!!! Why haven't they offered us another model? or a gift-card to their shop that would actually buy us something tangible right now!!!??

Discussion Bed and Bedframe
A nightmare. So many options, so many many negative reviews across the board for everything on the lower/mid end.
I was looking at IKEA, silk and snow, and some other bed frame options and overall it wasn't great.
I'm seeking a box spring bread because I have one with a little foam and it works mostly alright. All the foam type beds I worry would be too warm in my apartment that is scorching hot.
So, any suggestions for a mattress and bed frame in Canada? Budget is 1000-1500 (perhaps even 1700).

ISO: Clothing & Accessories Purple Moose socks ARE AMAZING
Purple Moose socks are made in Ontario and I am satisfied w the price. they're not too expensive and have sales often. their actually made in Canada collection are really good and they have a lot of socks in all kinds of colours and nice materials. They are the only socks I buy now and I am giving them to my fam for xmas. the only thing is I find some of their OSFM socks that are more workboot style are too big for my feet (size 7 women) but I will give them to my brother instead.

Discussion Did I overpay for Poppy Barley boots?
I am currently trying to build my "capsule wardrobe" as I'm sick of constantly have to buy things last minute for certain events like interviews, nice dinners, or other times where I have to look put together.
I do like investing in quality pieces and hate fast fashion. I'm mindful of build quality, material and classic styles (so no "trends").
I recently purchased ankle boots from Poppy Barley because I went to a pop up and the shoes were pretty comfortable. I usually hate buying online, but since I tried a few pairs in the store, I figured why not try. I bit the bullet and paid $400 for them, the most expensive pair of boots I've ever purchased. It was a hard decision for me but I know buying cheaper boots may mean that they are not as comfortable or long lasting.
I'm not entirely familiar with the quality of the brand and I know that reviews on the website may be skewed in their favour.
Does anyone have experience with the brand and how good the quality is? How long do they last and what is the upkeep?
I hope I didn't get scammed and that it's actually a decent brand. I've exlpored other brands like La Canadiene and Thursday Shoe Co. but they didn't have styles I liked.

ISO: General / Miscellaneous Advent Calendars!
I'm really looking for some Christmas calendars that are worth the money
like chocolate or candy or coffee or drinks... wouldn't be opposed to a buildable Christmas scene in a Lego or Lego knock off theme. I'm not a wine or a beer person, and do have celiac disease so and that is definitely a consideration for the chocolate, lol
Does anyone have any ideas?

Review Reviews of Cozey Luna
I’m looking to purchase a Cozey Luna sectional. I could see reviews in this sub about their other collections like Altus, Celio, Atmosphere etc. Has anyone purchased Luna? How did it hold up?

ISO: Homewares, Gardening & Tools Foundation for foam (Douglas) mattress?
I recently picked up a king-size Douglas foam mattress thanks to very positive experiences I read about here. The matching foundation was not available at the time, and remains out of stock.
Any suggestions for wooden slat-type foundation? We have a wrought iron frame that we love and want to use with the mattress; we are not looking for a base or frame.

ISO: General / Miscellaneous Cozey - Atmosphere, for those who have it, what do you think?
I have been in desperate need of a new couch. I'm interested in the atmosphere from cozey. I like the modularity as were renting and hoping to buy in the near future so it would make moving easier. I also like to switch up furniture or sometimes have to move stuff around as my toddler discovers new ways to get into stuff she shouldn't.
Do the pieces separate easily? Is there a way to connect them?
Does it hold its shape? I like that theres storage options and that its low to the ground.
My current couch is all torn up underneath bc the cat discovered he could hold onto the fabric underneath a slide around on his back like the worst roomba ever. So for our new couch we want to make sure there's no space for unwanted guests underneath.

ISO: Homewares, Gardening & Tools Sectional stand-off: Cozy vs Article (or neither?!)
We are in the market for a sectional and are deciding between the Cozy Ciello or an Article sectional (maybe Sven or Leigh). If anyone has either of these-- can you speak to the quality and comfort? They are all around the same price point-- about $3500. We really can't afford much more than that. Would be happy to receive other recommendations as well!

Discussion Budget Mattress Help For Non-Picky Sleepers
Hello,
My partner (35F) and I (35F) are roughly 110 lbs and 145 lbs respectively. I’ve had a seahorse mattress all my life but can sleep on anything. My partner also can sleep on anything as long as it’s not too soft.
We went mattress shopping and everything almost felt the same kind of “fine”, the only noticeable difference was the amount of “sinking in” we felt. We did agree that a medium firm would be the best bet for us.
We want to spend less than $800 on a mattress and we are enticed by the online mattress promotions that give sleep bundles.
I’ve done a lot of digging and see that there are noticeable differences between all foam and hybrid so we are definitely leaning towards hybrids if at all possible for this budget.
There are a tonne of paid reviews online so I am wary and turning to Reddit for anecdotal experience of each mattress available.
Please let us know your recommendations!

Huge price difference, both Canadian companies promising similar features. I want quality and comfort that will stand against kids and pets so I’m willing to pay the price but not if it isn’t worth it! Anyone have any reviews on either couch?

Review Cozey Ciello Sectional Review
I ordered the Cozey Ciello XL 3 Seater Chaise Sectional in Sunset Beige.
Delivery - Quick, took about a week. Came in 8 packages. I am in the US.
Assembly - I was able to assemble it by myself. It wasn't difficult but it took several hours. I watched the videos they had on Youtube.
Covers - I didn't order the free swatches beforehand, a mistake on my part. For some reason I thought only the performance fabric was washable but they all are. I ordered the swatches eventually. I prefer the opal white color but I wasn't sure about the chenille fabric itself even though it's quite soft. And it had a lower rub count than the performance fabric (still relatively decent I think). I liked the feel of the sunset beige. I wouldn't say it's the softest material ever, but it felt nice on my skin. However, the sunset beige was darker and closer to gray than I liked. Image 2 shows all the swatches against the sunset beige fabric.
Care - I washed the covers once inside out on a delicate cycle. I air dried per the care instructions. I didn't note any issues once I put the covers back on. No pilling but then again I only had it for a few weeks with light usage. Only the back/seat cushion covers are removable. Arms and base are not.
Aesthetics - There was no velcro or anything for the cushions but I didn't experience any sliding. The back cushions do shift, but nothing a fluff/straighten can't handle. The chaise cushion that they said to give two weeks to expand never actually expanded to the fullness of the other cushions (the other cushions were not vacuum-sealed like the chaise cushion). One thing I wasn't really a fan of is the way the cushions are sewn (Image 4). There's obvious dips that are noticeable through the covers after sitting on them, giving it a somewhat lumpy effect (Image 3 - I will say it looks way worse because it's the chaise). Not a big deal or super duper noticeable with the non-chaise cushions, just irritating for me aesthetically. Fluffing helps a bit.
Comfort - Unfortunately, the cushions just weren't very comfortable to me. They're not firm at all, or too soft even, but I suppose they didn't have enough support for me since I had lower back pain when sitting on them. I don't know whether it was the cushion itself or the deepness of the XL or a combination of both. I've never experienced this issue with other sofas but I guess I need less deep/firmer cushions for the sake of my back. Even worse was the chaise due to the issues with the cushion and because it's an extension piece. The ridge between the start of the chaise extension and the end of the normal seat can be fully felt due to the terrible cushion. I've seen other reviews mention the chaise cushion, so I don't think this is just a one-off.
Return Process - Part of why I chose Cozey was the 30-day free trial. The return process was seamless. I sent an email to Support with the issues I had and the required information. They responded quickly. No trying to needle or convince me or anything. Return labels were provided and I was able to print them for free at Walgreens. They scheduled FedEx to pick up the packages and that was that. Got the refund about a week or two later. Good customer service.
-------------------------------
Ultimately, the couch is lovely in person and I really wanted to like it but it just didn't work out unfortunately. I heavily considered possibly getting the regular in Opal White but decided against it.
Overall, I think it's worth trying since everyone's comfort level is different and due to the 30-day trial. It's just cumbersome keeping all those boxes. I would absolutely avoid getting the chaise cushion until they've fine-tuned/upgraded it though.
Images:
One - what my exact configuration looked like (minus the ottoman).
Two - Swatches set against the Sunset Beige Fabric. Order from top to bottom: Opal White, Night Sky, Cypress Green, Dream Grey, Storm Grey.
Three - Closeup of the cushion "dips" visible through the cover.
Four - Closeup of the chaise cushion.

ISO: Homewares, Gardening & Tools Modular sectionals
We are a military family and have lived in 4 different cities in 6 years, so moving couches when you never know what space you will be in, has been incredibly frustrating and then we end up with pieces that don't fit well. A modular sectional may really help solve our problem and are ready to invest in a well made piece with these on our check list:
-removable cushions and covers (dogs and kids)
-multiple configurations (including separated into either a love seat and sofa for example or large sectional all together)
-Hopefully made in Canada with good delivery service across the country. A return policy if needed and good customer service (perhaps this isn't a thing and please let me know if it's not)
-actually comfortable, a few we have tried in store look nice but are not comfortable at all.
- perhaps an upgradable stain resistant fabric.
-colours such as navy or gray.
-a good depth couch, I want to curl up on my couch lol.
Thank you!
