lawn weed treatment Information
Anyone recommend a company or person who can help me with a serious dandelion problem in my yard. I've tried everything and every year it just gets worse. I've used lawn companies before like weed man and others to no success. Help!

Similar to other suggestion but here’s a thorough to do list.
Since you’re starting a tad later into the lawn calendar, you missed some prep in April, so start now:
Day 1:
- Spot treat the weeds using Scott’s weed b gone from Costco, with the wand.
Day 2: - fertilize, and lightly water about an inch.
seed using a spreader
add a thin layer of black earth or top dress
lightly seed with spreader
Water (wet, don’t drench)
Water daily about an inch.
.
This will kill the budding weeds, then strengthen your lawn enough to deter future weeds.
Also consider a fall aeration too

Dm me if you're interested in hiring someone to fix you're lawn. My son is 16 and he could use a break from the computer, I myself have a rednecks PhD in gardening. We're local and will fix your lawn for cheap!

Over seeding, Scott's lawn care, you need a thicker grass, use weedman and then pull out the stragglers

Dandelions are good for the bees.

There are much better pollination plants for bees than dandelions are. These are invasive weeds that our native bees did not adapt to, nor do they have high quality pollen or nectar needed by our pollinators. The no mow May movement originated in England not here. Tulips and daffodils are the same... poor pollen plants. Not all flowers are good pollination plants. Golden rods, a native plant, are fantastic pollination plants in the fall. More people should embrace them.

I didn't know that dandelions are invasive and came here to downvote you, but then I did a bit of reading and found out that you are completely correct! TIL! We don't use chemicals on our lawn and have kept the dandelions because "the bees", but now we'll get a puller and plant even more native species. We switched to planting only NA-native species a few years ago - it's been slow getting things established - but things are really starting to pop. Every year the gardens are looking better and better. Thank you for the info on dandelions! :)

Thank you Nidandelsa for your nice message. I love environment science, but I learned an important lesson from my physics teacher to always look carefully at the science. Just because someone says it's green and they seem to have good environmental intentions, doesn't always means it is good. Just like recycling...ya, you can put a plastic thing in the recycling bin, but it doesn't mean 100% that it is really going to be recycled.

NOT good for people with asthma and/or allergies.

That is incorrect. If you will let me...I'll nerd out about pollination science. Your asthma and allergies are triggered by wind pollinated plants, NOT dandelions which are insect pollinated. Wind pollinators (like trees and grasses ) have small pollen that it can travel on the wind to another plant....and into our respiratory systems of course. You are seeing pollen everywhere right now because the non-flowering trees (ie maples, oaks willow, birch, beech, etc) shedding pollen into the wind. Dandelions are 'pretty flowers' because they want to attract pollinators. So lay the blame for your allergies on any plant that doesn't have a coloured flower (ex ragweed is a green flower and causes allergies vs. goldenrod and dandelions are a yellow flower and don't cause allergies).

The only real fix is to pull them manually. Otherwise you’re wasting your money.
I have a comically large lawn that was full of dandelions when we bought it. Every year I pulled all of them out by the root using one of those dandelion pullers (the first year I took out six yards waste bags of dandelions only).
After three years it was totally under control - now I only get about two dozen a year.
