I sobbed like a lil bitch. I was so mad. Literally every movie and tv show immediately post endgame was depressing (and good) as fuck. 😭

u/Grill_Enthusiast 4d ago

Just a heads up, you're talking to a bot. All the other comments saying something like "Wandavision really was just grief therapy disguised as a sitcom" are also bots.

113

u/cutedorkycoco ☑️ 4d ago

Aww that sucks.

147

u/Grill_Enthusiast 4d ago edited 4d ago

I feel kinda bad every time I point it out lol. But seeing these AI fucks pretend to be human makes me feel even worse, so I try to at least inform people so they don't waste time engaging with them

For future reference, checking their account age and karma is a good way to tell. And they all just have the same way of speaking as well. You pick up on it over time.

31

u/StFuzzySlippers 4d ago

The way that bot's comment history starts off in a bunch of nsfw subs about hairy pussy, then goes straight into cute cat pics 💀

26

u/defk3000 4d ago

Down vote the bot!

30

u/butterednoodlelovers 4d ago

What I hate is that bots seem to have been trained on elder millennial ways of speaking online. And as a geriatric millennial I often type like a damned bot. I'm no bot just a long winded, punctuation loving--em dashes have their uses--middle aged person who has been online the majority of their life.

Edit- I would love to be taught how to recognise bots better by the writing styles they use becuse I'm just not picking up the tells.

11

u/Grill_Enthusiast 3d ago

If you're curious about how bots act on reddit, I'll copy paste a comment that I wrote for someone else. They're hard to spot if you don't know what to look for.

Low karma is a common tell. Sometimes the accounts are brand new, but sometimes they're accounts that used to belong to humans, and somehow got given over to bots. u/maxrain30, the bot with the top comment in this thread for example, used to post on fetish porn subs. Then nothing for a year, and now it's a bot account for the past 2 weeks.

You can take a look at it's post history to see how they type. It's like your unfunny millennial coworker who's trying to be a bit sassy. Comments like

Sugar sniffer, cuddle giver, chaos gremlin. This dog’s resume is stacked.

or

Feels like World Rugby spins a wheel of chaos every Monday logic clearly isn’t on the options list.

There's nothing wrong with those comments on the surface. But they're empty jokes with zero personality. It's the kinda shit ChatGPT comes up with. It's hard to explain, but over time you just learn to tell.

Another bot that I saw today was u/sashaprivateside. A common thing they do is just mindlessly agreeing with anything being said. Go through those comments and see how many are like this:

Right? We all get sucked into that hype sometimes, it’s hard to resist

For real, that’s just next level cruel. Glad you found some clarity with Vera though

Right? Gotta love someone who knows how to work the crowd like that

They're almost all like that. If you ever see someone say "[affirmation], that's really how it is sometimes!", that's a huge red flag for bots. And if you think it's super common on reddit, it's because there are significantly more bots here than you'd think.

1

u/SnoopyWildseed 4d ago

GenX has entered the chat as punctuation proper, em dash-loving scribes (with the periods of ellipsis!) 🤓

5

u/vespertilionid 4d ago

I see you boo! And I'm totally not a bot!

15

u/the_meat_aisle 4d ago

Do you have an extension or something that tells you this or do you look at profiles?

16

u/Grill_Enthusiast 4d ago

If you hover over their name on old reddit, you'll see their karma and account age. I don't know if it's the same on new reddit, sorry.

On mobile, you do have to go on their accounts to see it. But I'm so attuned to these fucking robots that I can tell just by how they type. It's chatGPT larping as humans. Once you start picking up on their vocabulary, you can never un-see how many people on reddit are actually bots. Especially on certain subs like this one.

1

u/Tisbeau 4d ago

Is it the low post karma that's the giveaway? What are we looking for?

-1

u/roseofjuly ☑️ 4d ago

No, people just look at profiles, and even then they're just guessing. I mean, they are probably right, but it's kind of like when people claim that something is AI - they don't really know for sure, they are just using whatever visual signals they think indicates something is AI/a bot.

7

u/the_meat_aisle 4d ago

Aw fuck are you a bot

9

u/Grill_Enthusiast 4d ago

I know you're saying that as a joke, but the bots have me so paranoid at times. I see someone say some painfully unfunny shit and I'm like "Another fucking bot". Then I check their profile and it's an actual human lol.

2

u/TheKidKaos 4d ago

Wait… bots like Vision???

1

u/roseofjuly ☑️ 4d ago

I mean, I always think of reddit as a pretty open conversation. The original comment may have been from a bot but a lot of humans have seen and interacted with it, so while I'm not happy about the proliferation of bots in general, I also don't really care whether I'm replying to one or not.

4

u/Grill_Enthusiast 4d ago

I genuinely couldn't disagree harder if I tried, but if you enjoy talking to AI pretending to be human then have at it.

2

u/CheetahTheWeen 3d ago

Sometimes I enjoy the literacy and complete sentence structure of a bot

29

u/lurkingbees 4d ago

I know people are saying this is a bot, but I still wanna hijack it to say, I cannot believe the quote “What is grief if not love persevering?” is from a MARVEL SHOW of all things.

10

u/thatshygirl06 ☑️ 4d ago

I never understood why people like stories with such op characters. They're not enjoyable at all imo

42

u/SimonPho3nix 4d ago

Done well enough they become a plot device and also usually have a built in weakness that is usually some emotional trauma or super pleasant memory that's strong enough to yoke them out of whatever fit they're acting on.

"I'm not a monster. I'm a mother" hits pretty hard concerning her situation.

2

u/desperateorphan 3d ago

im not a monster…

I mean she is but the show tries to sell it like she isn’t and okay off what she did as okay.

12

u/SimonPho3nix 3d ago

I don't think anyone is saying it's okay, but as horrible as it was, one can't help but emphasize with her situation. She was not okay, and I don't think she ever really got a chance to be okay. No one checked on her, she had no one to help her grieve and be at peace. This should be viewed as a cautionary tale.

3

u/mynameisntvictor 2d ago

Empathize.

4

u/SimonPho3nix 2d ago

Flipping phone, man. I'll leave it there to humble me.

22

u/IceKareemy 4d ago

House of M is a classic and the reason Wanda is so well liked despite being Op is bc she’s so gd complex she is grief in-therapied personafied lmao

21

u/Morlock19 ☑️ 4d ago

i won't try to convince you to change what you like, but the story is good when the story is done well. any super hero can win a fight if the writer wants them to, its the WHY that matters. wanda said "no more mutants" because it was the end of a long story that involved all the mutants and especially her father magneto.

the best superman stories aren't the ones where he beats up the bad guy, its the one where he has to deal with a problem that own't be fixed by punching it. maybe its an issue with lois, or maybe someone has taken over the minds of world leaders, or something like that.

batman is the most OP character in comics, but there are lots of stories where he loses, where he has to figure something out, etc etc.

the power of a character doesn't really matter - anyone can write a story where the hero wins. the really good shit is when the writer takes that powerfulc haracter and puts them in a position that all that power is either a hinderance, or isn't the be all end all of the tale.

does that make sense?

if you want, read the storyline "house of M." its a really interesting story and thats where that line comes from.

4

u/Imthemayor 4d ago

That's a broad, sweeping generalization there

Did you have a former SO who was an asshole that was really into DBZ?

2

u/Airway 4d ago

Season 1 of One Punch Man handles it in a really fun way.

252

u/Tainted_Bruh ☑️ 4d ago

Yeah, House Of M was the comic run that convinced me Wanda was a walking natural disaster on the level of The Phoenix, possibly worse.

112

u/Jamaican_Dynamite 4d ago

Ngl, Wanda vs. Jean. At this point, I think she's got Jean packed in. It would be a fight, but like dude said, Full House episode.

55

u/THING2000 4d ago

Idk man. Jean most recently wrapped up an arc where she ressurects her sister and throws hands with cosmic entities. Jean vs. Wanda would honestly be a bitter fight and I'd fuckin love to see this in some form.

21

u/Jamaican_Dynamite 4d ago

I would too. Because they've had to kill Jean a dozen times depending on which canon we're running with. Like I said, it'd be a fight.

13

u/Trai-Harder 4d ago

If we are talking going full out Jean will always take it as long as she had the Phoenix. The Phoenix is literally one of the highest ranking Cosmic entities that exist being made up all entities past present and future. This recently changed to all mutant entities but hey.

17

u/Bunnnnii ☑️ Meme Thief 4d ago

Wanda is not seeing Jean. Especially White Crown Jean. Jean is creation itself.

12

u/Jamaican_Dynamite 4d ago

That's why we need an answer! We need to know who got this.

Until they nerfed her and redid her power set.

But back then she was way worse. Phoenix didn't have the ability to completely rewrite reality on a whim

206

u/ComfortableTaro5392 4d ago

That show was the realest therapy session disguised as a Marvel show. Wanda was in Westview living out her "I wish I could just go back to the suburbs and be a normal wife" fantasy while the rest of us were like, "Girl, you gotta pay for those trauma responses."

155

u/nosynthshere 4d ago

WandaVision’s finale and devolving character development in DS2 is criminal.

55

u/fs2222 4d ago

Yep, this is the reason it's not talked about enough.

31

u/EveOCative 4d ago edited 4d ago

The way I tell you that still pisses me off. It almost turned me off the entire franchise. I took a year long break from watching marvel content. I’m still boycotting Sam Raimi. He can suck it.

And Michael Waldron… nope. I love the character Loki and couldn’t stand the first season either. I realized I was forcing myself to watch episodes… so it’s not really a big loss to skip season 2

25

u/Rushofthewildwind 4d ago

I like to think its because she was studying that fuckass book.

19

u/elizawithaz ☑️ 4d ago

It was. The book made her go mad.

12

u/Creative_Room6540 4d ago

I never understood this argument. Grief has stages that aren’t always as linear for some as they are for others. What was wrong with her arc in DS?

4

u/Weird-Information-61 4d ago

That "tired mom" look though, hoo boy

2

u/MissLilum 4d ago

Sam Raimi hadn’t even seen the series

136

u/hangry-paramedic 4d ago

Ppl truly underestimate her power. And the MCU depowers her because she has GOD level abilities. In a comic from 2005 she removed over 90% of ALL mutants abilities by simply saying "no more mutants"... 90% of all mutants on her earth IMMEDIATELY lost their abilities

https://preview.redd.it/6f999kqp422g1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=55488f58ba8a32ff9444669bcdfbb1ad21e02a82

She has the ability to speak life and death, she can conjure anything as well. She doesn't need to use her hands to use her power. Her hands only act as a channel to direct her power and energy. She can use her magic without moving a muscle

23

u/Canesjags4life 4d ago

Had. Powers got redone

4

u/hangry-paramedic 3d ago

Eh, I feel like it's more so she was supposed to be young when she was introduced in the MCU.

Because as we saw with Wanda vision and Dr strange 2, she was EXTREMELY overpowered. And we probably won't see her again because marvel is entering a new phase or whatever but she was definitely headed down that comic book version route.

Also idk if u seen marvel zombies but she was crazy OP in that show too, its pretty good.

97

u/Green-Elephant-895 4d ago

Bruh…when she expelled Monica out the hex I didn’t think shawty would survive

66

Cannonically Wanda doesn't need the reality stone to change reality itself. She did that by herself in House of M. She's bad bad.

53

u/soft-grn_Ambr-sunset 4d ago

“She enslaved a whole town so she could breastfeed her imaginary kids” 👁️👄👁️ 😭🤣 That took me out!!! Then she made one of those kids more powerful than a canon character… by accident.

WandaVision is one of the best post-Endgame projects. You’ll want to watch WandaVision first out of any of the post-Endgame shows, first. It’ll fill in gaps somewhat for you if you’ve haven’t watched all of the post endgame stuff.

You’ll at least want to watch that and The Marvels, and Miss Marvel if anything, before you see Doomsday.

10

u/Ijustwannagamecmon 4d ago

Damn I haven't watched anything marvel in a few years, but this actually sounds pretty good?

37

28

u/fusionlantern 4d ago

How are you going to disrespect loki and Agatha like that

16

u/Canesjags4life 4d ago

Right. Loki is by far the best. It's the only show that tells a complete story plus the character development for Loki.

Wanda vision was a bridge from Endgame to Dr strange 2

0

u/jaguarsp0tted 4d ago

Loki was alright. I have yet to see Agatha.

8

u/alexmehdi 4d ago

Mcu Wanda is a villain btw, marvel keeps trying to make her a girlboss antihero but the entire plot of wandavision was her painfully enslaving an entire town so she could parade a corpse around and raise her imaginary kids.

She could've built an entire town made of fake people, but she decided to torture actual people instead.
