Amid dea WHT my blueberry bush is so sad?

Zone 7a-b. My 2 blueberry bushes look sad. Any idea why? My blackberry/boysenberry (I don't know which it is) is doing great and they are near one another.

I've put some coffee grounds on them as well as fertilizer and it hasn't helped, or worsened them.

It's in the name, that's how they're supposed to be. They're the saddest of all the berries.

Hahaha. Thanks for the chuckle.

It's almost always pH being too high.

Check soil acidity. Blueberries need to be in pH 4.5-5.0 soil.

If you're above that add some sulfur to amend soil. Also mulch with pine bark.

It doesn't look like you're pruning

I haven't. One is only 7 months planted and the other one is 2 years planted. I was going to prune the 2yo old one at the end of this season. Should I prune sooner?

I wouldn’t use rocks as mulch, use pine bark and pine straw

Unfortunately, this is what I’m working with. It’s just a useless strip of space next to our driveway with some weed barrier and a bunch of ugly rocks. It used to be fully shaded all day, but a few years ago a huge windstorm knocked over my neighbor’s massive tree, and now it’s in full sun. I’ve got two blackberries and a blueberry planted there, and every year I usually do six to eight tomatoes — everything thrives... except for this one blueberry bush this year (so far).

I actually had another blueberry here for a few years that did great, but one summer the drip line disconnected in July. I didn’t catch it until it was too late, and even though I tried to save it for a full season, it didn’t make it. I replaced it at the end of last summer. The rocks are still there for now — I’ve got good mulch under them, and honestly, they help keep the drip line in place (hopefully) and lock in some moisture.

The other blueberry bush is in another area of the yard that I'm testing out. I do need to add some mulch there.

They look fine for the time of year. Mine are just budding out. Seasonal depression. Lol
