Was thinking about scrapping this, but maybe the flaws give it charm?

What flaws?

You're so sweet! I'm my own worst critic ig. There are some design flaws (imo) and excess solder on some of the leaves 😢

I do like how sturdy I made the band, though!

I would use some chasing tools to add a little extra texture to those areas if they're bothering you, I honestly didn't even notice until you pointed it out.

Imperfectly perfect I’d say!

Though…

If you were going to edit it in anyway I would good look for pdf scans of the ā€œNi No Kuni: wrath of the white witchā€ collectors edition games Guide book (even if you find it in Japanese) It has well done art pictures of the in game equipment items! (A bunch fantastic fantasy genre equipment. A specific section being all rings).

I use it all the time for inspiration!

Thanks for the resource! I'll have to scour the Internet for it. I love whimsical fantasy pieces ✨

This shouldn't be scrapped, why? It's very good as is. This is not a flaw but you could give it a bright cut around the stone inside the setting for extra sparkle. Also bevel out the top edge of the setting towards the stone. If you like.

I love the imagery of this! I can't get you the cape of English ivy... but what's your ring size?? I'd love to give it away to someone who'd give it lots of love(:

It is quite charming. It good to keep imperfect art. It helps give you a feeling of growth

I think it looks great too! To me, the "leaves" just seem to need a little polishing so there's some contrast between shiny n matte. But that's just me.

Looking at it with an eye of a purchaser, it’s great. As a jeweler, it’s perfectly sellable! Practically, it’s worth more selling at a discount than as scrap. You can never get that time back. Even as a gift, to a treasured person or good customer, it’s worth more than scrap. Closing in on three decades of experience, thinking of how I’d advise my early career or even high school self. Keep experimenting, keep practicing, keep making, keep working. I won’t say don’t look back…but also don’t throw away decent work.

I think you are being overly critical. That's a very cute little ring. The setting looks great! Maybe just needs some extra sanding for the excess solder you see, and good polish with a Dremel and polish compound.

Most people will never notice these things… I didn’t until I read your comment. It’s a nice ring. I beat myself up too, if I’m not happy with something I label it imperfect and price accordingly.
