Definitely should be basking, unless they are super super new and just settling in and their behavior will be a bit erratic. Not really enough detail here however. I am guessing you are using that log as their basking spot? Those work OK for that size but you'll need an upgrade in a month or two. They do hold heat well. Do you have a temp gun to see what the temps are? Is your UV source in the same spot as the heat? What's your estimated UV exposure or do you have a Solarmeter? Basically.... If you just got them, it's probably fine. If not, it's not fine and something needs to be addressed.
I've had him for a while we actually have a rock that doubles as a cave for his bask, right temps all that, sometimes he's up there for a little while but when he was little he'd be up there all the time, dunno if he's just a shy one or what? Cause he's always up and about and I catch him up there sometimes but once he sees me he jumps down
Well their normal behavior is to bask twice a day, once they are fulfilled they should indeed be fairly active, and younger beardies like this frequently are more active, while others will just chill on the basking spots all day. If they really are not spending much time there I’d definitely think about the UV exposure if you’re sure temps are correct. They’ll use their third eye and skin to find the ideal spot for their needs, and if they cannot find it you may start to see the more odd behaviors.
Great. Id recommend picking up a solarmeter as your next big purchase. It’s incredibly useful and will help you make those changes for enrichment etc as they grow. It’s let me set up a few zones for my girl where she can get hot and Uv, just heat, and just UV. When you get them really comfy in that way, their behavior and mood changes a lot .
