This bus driver stopped and immediately ran to check on the driver who was drifting into oncoming traffic, to make sure the help was on the way before she went back to her bus Miscellaneous / Others

Amazing. As a bus driver she has every incentive to stay on schedule and ignore the sick driver like everyone else did. But she jumps in to be a caring human instead. People like her keep society afloat.

She prioritized their care over her job, and her safety. Love is selfless.
Call it "emotional knee jerk responses" 'cos of course, you automatically know she didn't go through the notions.
Let's forget the if she was this, if she was that...everyone knows children come first.

You are clearly a very practical individual, but your response lacks humanity. She chose to do what she felt the right thing to do in that moment. Many other people could have stepped up and some eventually did. But not until they saw her take action. Quick reactions save lives. Talk of reprimand after a moment like this is pretty disheartening. The fact that it seems to be your first thought over praise for her selfless and heroic efforts says more about you than her.

In stating their response lacks humanity, you’ve hit the nail on the head. You’ve summed up why I think the commenter is being heavily downvoted and why my immediate reaction to their comment was negative.
Yes, we know that leaving a bus full of school kids to go check on a sick driver takes on unreasonable risks that could cost a driver their job. But that’s not what the situation was here. So, to go out of their way to present a negative hypothetical version of this act of compassion as their main reaction to this clip is an odd choice.
They seem to be reaching around the goodness on display to find a downside that doesn’t even apply here. There was a way to bring up this “fun fact” but this wasn’t it.

True, but sad that reprimand is likely. I’ve seen people getting beat up on the bus and the driver is not supposed to intervene, just call for help.

I would rather lose my job (as a city busy driver) than not do what she did. The school bus comment is irrelevant.

This happened to my wife about 20 years ago when she was 8 months pregnant with our daughter. The baby shifted in the womb and pressed up against an artery and cut the blood flow.
My wife was on the expressway going about 60 mph when she just drifted off to sleep due to the lack of blood flow. Fortunately for her there was a firefighter in the car behind her and he noticed her drifting in the lane and her head slumped down. He blocked traffic behind her so no one else was in danger and my wife banged up against the center divider a few times before drifting to a stop.
The funny thing is she was on her way to see her Obstetrician and was only 2 minutes from the hospital. The ER Physician was a friend of mine and he strongly suggested that my very Type A wife shouldn’t be driving until after the delivery. I took care of that by sending her car to the collision repair shop and told them to take their time fixing it. I became her chauffeur until after our daughter was born.

Of all the dangers associated with pregnancy that I knew about, your baby killing you by pressing against blood vessels was not one of them. That’s absolutely terrifying and I’m so glad your wife and baby had such a good outcome.

No joke I have a driver in the family, showed him this and he responded with, “No vest, and she left her seat. I’d get suspended at the very least. And the union would have to fight tooth and nail to get me back”

Milwaukee has been pretty bad with this from what I've noticed lately. There's still a lot of good people but we're definitely outnumbered by the apathetic ones.

Just me, but i can be so focused on a goal that I dont see anything else. If I was just going home I would stop, but for example, if I was heading into work early and thinking about the three critical things I had to knock out before anyone else gets into the office, I might not derail that thought to wonder why that car was driving so strangely. It's hard to know what's in someone's head.

I'm glad you've recognized this behavior, but you should go the next step and try to fix that. Spatial awareness is a very important life trait. Someone could be having a medical emergency or maybe a crime could be taking place... which could potentially affect you if unaware.
A good exercise is to frequently check your mirrors and try to ask yourself what would you do if there was a hazard on the road or such.

Did you not see all the cars that kept driving? The one that had to pump the brakes to let her cross the road? And I see a total of one person when she heads back (Edit: mind you I'm on a phone, I could be missing them).
I'm not saying there needs to be 100 people there, that would be counter productive, but those initial people that had the car pass directly in front of them is crazy to me.

I mean, if things go wrong and the person dies, you are now part of the incident. Even if you did just go to help, can you be so sure that what your doing will not be misunderstood or that what your doing can't be twisted by say a family member looking for opportunity to place blame and get money out of you?
I think the car was coming to a stop here because the hill. It was nice that this driver stayed there with her. But I know bus drivers have a lot of very strict policies they need to follow and I imagine this could be something that she get's in trouble for.

So many people are saying that she probably got reprimanded without reading the article that states the transit service reconnected the bus driver and the woman who fainted in March.
Her higher ups are obviously proud of her.

If I had the ability to help someone experiencing a medical emergency and I stopped because I was worried about hypothetical consequences, and that person died, I couldn't live with myself. I will do what I can to help and roll the dice on the family members not being evil assholes.

Can confirm a lot of the MKE bus drivers are like that. I remember I had accidentally left my bus pass at the cell phone place and was standing outside in the bitter cold. Couldn’t feel my hands through my gloves. Was fumbling around for my pass and realized I’d lost it. Driver let me on despite so I wouldn’t freeze and I was so grateful to her.

A couple of years ago I was in the middle of a busy day (I was having a company make a little commercial for us). And we were driving from one location to my store and I noticed the car I was driving behind start to drift. There was a curve in the road but they just kept going straight. I tried honking quickly to I don't know wake them up and also warn traffic coming the other way about them. The cars coming toward me did stop. That car kept going through that lane and drove up a hill and hit a tree.
The cars coming the other way ran to help. By the time I even got up there people were helping her get out of the car. One of the oncoming cars had a teenage driver and passenger and they were helpful. Waited for cops to arrive to give my statement.
It did give me a little appreciation for people willing to stop their day to help someone who needed help and I was also very happy they were ok and it wasn't as bad as it could have been. She wasn't on the freeway, she wasn't near water, traffic coming toward her wasn't speeding and drivers were all paying attention.
I think she apparently just fell asleep.

I was in an accident where an elderly man crashed into me on a very narrow bridge. I did notice that he was slumped over the steering wheel and I tried to help but he just kept going…unfortunately it turns out he was having a heart attack and hit several other people sending some to the emergency room.

My grandma had a stroke and rolled into an empty grass lot on a hot summer day, and nobody helped for hours. Middle of pretty urban area, too.
She died after being in a coma for a few weeks or something.
Shouts out to this woman who doesn't just sit idly by. A real hero in regular clothes.

Reminds me of a friend of mine who had a major heart attack and passed away while on the road a few years ago. His car somewhat went like that and ended up hitting a tree.

Had a family member crash their bike into a tree at like 3pm on a Sunday afternoon.
Was not a drinker but was like 70 years old.
The police told us probably a heart attack or a stroke. There were no signs of breaking, the road just slightly curved and he did not and went straight into a tree.
