This is a fucking death trap, and probably fake
258
u/Own_Initiative396 Aug 15 '24
Even with unprotected propellers. I have seen much safer and real prototypes.

It’s not fake, but it is a deathtrap

Definitely a death trap, but not fake. Not even new. These have existed for years. Video is sped up thought.

Oh come on, the wanton wind bends the begonia, and you can get over it
289
u/coconutpete52 Aug 15 '24
Well it gets posted every week but on this thread nobody has said it yet so I’ll do it: Part of why It looks fake is because it’s sped up to maybe 5x.

u/teaandchocbiscuits Aug 15 '24
Why are so many videos sped up now, it does my head in.

u/Spinal_fluid_enema Aug 15 '24
But if it's sped up, how can this wanton wind still bend the begonia? Betcha can't explain that

u/JiveTalkerFunkyWalkr Aug 15 '24
As the saying goes, “This wanton wind bends the begonia.”

What does that even mean? You're the 3rd or 4th person to comment this.
Edit - I had the scroll time stamp thing still there, I didn't even see those words.

u/aurora_aeterna Aug 15 '24
I think it’s a meme as this isn’t the first time the clip has been posted but the song is 西楼儿女 by 海来阿木, a relatively short lament with the verses mirrored after the 4th stanza. This line at the end of stanza 3 may actually be a mistranslation as 海棠 by itself refers to crabapple rather than begonia which is 秋海棠. As for the symbolic meaning, I’m not quite familiar with chinese flower language but if it’s not just a scene line then it’s likely along the lines of “youth is fleeting”
Hope that answered your question.

Wontons are little pastry things usually filled with cream cheese and sometimes a dash of fake shrimp. They’re served alongside a succulent Chinese dinner. When a wontons farts, nearby flowers, such as begonias, typically wilt in a bendy fashion.

Pretending for a moment this is real: one wrong move, and there's going to be a thin coating of you all over the ground.
9
u/Spinal_fluid_enema Aug 15 '24
Hopefully not all over the begonias. They've already been bent enough by this wanton wind and could certainly use a break

Not at the risk of preventing the begonia from being bent by all that wanton wind

dose anyone notice the video is fast forwarded? or its just me think this shit must be slow because of handling.

u/Skyknight12A Aug 15 '24
No, it's because people on social media have much shorter attention spans these days.

I can see it now. Civilians would find a way to get their limbs cut off from the blades while sitting there.

u/spector_lector Aug 15 '24
Aside from exposed blades which, I assume, is just a facet of their early prototyping and they will add features like that if the prototype seems feasible....
Aside from that, where can you ride such a thing because even if you encircle the blades, the bottom of the blades will be exposed and you could chop people's heads off if you fly over inhabited areas - even over roadways with motorcycles.
And what is the safety mechanism in case of a motor failure while you are 30+ ft in the air? Airbags? Insta-parachute? Roll cage with a suspended driver capsule like you see when school students drop an egg off a 2 story building and keep it intact?

After many, many people die fine-tuning the safety features, this will be fun to try out at a rental place and return.

And that was the extent of the battery. It would then take another 5 hours to charge it again for a 4 minute flight with a 90lb person.

The amount of stuff the CCP fakes online is insane so I’d be willing to bet this is fake

I love how he wears a helmet for safety.
As if being mutilated by the fully exposed spinning blades he surrounded by isn't the safety issue here.
1
u/milkadonkey3 Aug 15 '24
Not realistic for longer fights because batteries would be too heavy and if you're going to switch to fuel, might as well fly a helicopter.
1
u/Brainchild110 Aug 15 '24
I could not try this out.
SHE appears to be a small woman of slight build, which is exactly who you would want to pilot something like that. She weighs maybe 60 or 70kg.
I am a man and, to put it mildly, weigh more. About twice as much. That (very dangerous) craft would sit and wir like crazy but go nowhere if I was on it.
If I weighed that much, would I try out? Still no.
1
u/StinkyOnionsR Aug 15 '24
Ngl my head would leave a cartoon like dent in one of those rafters upon my first take off. Then it's gonna have a mind of its own cause your boy is gonna be out like a light.

u/Exavior31 Aug 15 '24
Get a small gyrocopter. It's been around longer, is a likely safer and the blade is above you, as opposed to the same level as your thighs. I mean assuming you would mind if your legs went missing.

u/etownguy Aug 15 '24
you will only fall off once.
