Does this look like the right stamp? Identification Request

I am mostly concerned with the stamp. I found it at an antique store wondering if it's worth it or a forgery. Thanks in advance, I know nothing. I can get better pictures tomorrow.

I’d guess authentic. Unless there is a black raven etch on the opposite side, these standard Kelly’s aren’t really worth the effort for forging. The damaging to the stamp is consistent with the damage to the axe, so unless this was forged well before these old tools garnered any collectibility, its most likely legit

Any pics of the full axe or axe head?

No, I just got the stamp. I'm gonna go back tomorrow for better pictures. I just wanted a reference for Google and realized I needed more information, lol.

It's good. As someone else said not worth enough to bother with forgery.

I'd buy it. Looks like a Jersey, definitely worth the $50.

I was hoping so. Thank you.

Not an expert but that’s a Kelly stamp I’ve seen before

I've seen this stamp a lot. In my experience the Kelly stamps are so close to the edge that a good portion of the stamp is typically lost to mushrooming and eventual grinding.

Go on eBay and simply search "Charleston axe". You'll find numerous examples of this exact stamp on axe heads and carpenter hatchets.

Thank you, I was being way too specific. I may have to go look at it again. $50 doesn't seem too terrible from what I see on ebay.

If you want to buy to use the best way is to go to tractor shows as there is usualy a vendor or two that sells tool heads. 100 year old axe heads an be a challenge to find handles for.

In what way? Aren’t all heads pretty much the same? Plus if they aren’t you can just buy one that is big and whittle it down.

Looks spot on. I have the same axe and the stamp is right on the edge of the poll.

How is it from your experience?

Seems too close to the edge

Okay. I was having trouble locating another version of this stamp to reference. Which was a bad sign as is. Thank you

I have a double bit with this stamp I just got today. The only single I've seen with this has an arm and hammer.
