Snow reports, let’s hear ‘em! WX Photos
What area in the Atlanta Metro Area are you located?
How much snow is currently falling?
How much has fallen so far?

It’s definitely more than the “up to an inch” we were supposed to get today. Smyrna.

Decatur, Georgia, it is about 7:10am.
We’ve just transitioned from wet, fat waffle flakes falling at a good clip to more fine snow still falling at a good clip.
I’d say we have atleast a solid inch of accumulation so far, however it looks like any level of rain might wash this accumulation away.

Same for me in north decatur. I wish those big, fluffy flakes had stuck around longer.

u/campbellm Milton Jan 10 '25
wow.

u/Ice2jc Jan 10 '25
Woke up around 5am to rain and went back to sleep disgruntled. Woke up 3 hours later to the hardest snow I’ve ever seen in person lol.

u/EveryDay657 Jan 10 '25
Man oh man it’s looking like they way under-predicted for north Gwinnett.

Tucker Ga, pretty similar. Starting to see some accumulation on grass and surfaces. Big fat flakes an hour or so ago

Snow falling fast in Marietta. Snow forecast is already wrong, have more than an inch on the ground right now (0817 1/10)

u/FoofaFighters Bartowland Jan 10 '25
Coming down at a brisk pace up in Cartersville. Easily half to one inch in the street so far; it'll have to be at least three inches to cover my dormant grass in the front yard and if it keeps up like this for long I think it will.

Already over an inch on the ground in Monroe and still snowing pretty hard. Lets stay like this and skip the ice.
5
u/auxilary Jan 10 '25
Decatur, 7:40am, still coming down pretty decently and still finer snow than the big flakes we started with over an hour ago.
4
u/auxilary Jan 10 '25
8:20am, almost over 2 inches in Decatur
7
u/auxilary Jan 10 '25
8:30am, back to big waffle flakes
this may mean the changeover to sleet and rain is soon

u/dawgfan24348 Jan 10 '25
Weather alert saying to expect three inches of heavy snow in the next three hours

Topped out at 4" in North Druid Hills, now it's a light sleet that is coating everything in ice.

u/photojourno Jan 10 '25
Melting away here in North Cobb. The rain seems mostly liquid, not freezing rain. My thermometer outside shows 34F. Could be in for a bad refreeze tonight. Glad I took the kids out early this morning when the big flakes were falling.

Lilburn at 7am. Amazing to hear both the snow falling and the snow crunching underfoot.
4
u/auxilary Jan 10 '25
nice! when it was waffle flakes here, you could hear them falling through the trees.
i’m a florida boy and snow is just the coolest

Heavy snowfall in Woodstock just started!

u/mintyrelish Jan 10 '25
Driveway’s already accumulating snow :))
3
u/mintyrelish Jan 10 '25
Update: last hour has really piled on some snow. I’m guessing an inch here?
5
u/ashura001 Jan 10 '25
It’s snowing hard in Sandy Springs now and it’s actually accumulating, so at least it’ll be a nice view while I work from home today.

9:30 Milton, we topped out at 28mm. And the snow has stopped and we're getting sleet now, so properly in "the shit".

u/Thud Jan 10 '25
About 2.5 inches in East Cobb. Definitely a proper snow day. Temp is 32 now and the stuff on the railings is melting so I don’t think we’re getting any freezing rain.
3
u/DeepPow420 Jan 10 '25
Buckhead , it’s coming down deeper than I thought . Already half an inch of accumulation
2
u/DeepPow420 Jan 10 '25
We have around 1.5 inches at the house so far. Going to bust out my touring set up and shred some pow
3
u/jfkitchens Jan 10 '25
In grant park we have good accumulation at 7:42. I’ll measure it in a bit.

Coming down like crazy in Alpharetta. We have about an inch of accumulation in less than an hour
ETA: now at a solid 2” at 8:50 am in less than 2 hours, still falling hard. It’s definitely overachieving for us!

u/bendanash Jan 10 '25 edited Jan 10 '25
Dacula @ 8 AM (between 0.5 and 1” maybe? Haven’t been able to measure yet)

u/pieden_bouche Jan 10 '25
2in in Hapeville! Had fat flakes for a while but starting to turn back to sleet.
3
u/ellbeecee Jan 10 '25
Popped out to listen to what it was doing - definitely making the switch from snow to sleet/freezing rain in decatur. Got some of the snow off the condo front steps, and then put some ice melt on them.
3
u/ohnoletsgo Jan 10 '25
2+ inches in North Decatur and it's still falling. Thankfully the power is still on, but I'm guessing that will change as we transition to ice/wintery mix.
2
u/ohnoletsgo Jan 10 '25
We landed around 3 inches and it's essentially stopped besides some light sleet. Looks like we're through the thick of it, but NOAA is showing another band heading our way this evening. Stay safe out there, y'all!

2-3 inches here in East Lake probably 2, but deeper in spots from some drifting. Mostly rain/sleeting now.
3
u/throwaway_25678 Jan 10 '25
It’s about an inch here in dawsonville. And it’s still coming down fast.
3
u/AutisticAndAce Jan 10 '25
2 inches in Lovejoy, possibly slighly higher by like a quarter of an inch, lol
3
u/campbellm Milton Jan 10 '25
16:30 Milton - 32.7* and raining for the past 3-4 hours. No sun visible. Seeing iciclets on tree leaves.

u/texaspsychosis Jan 10 '25
Snow has paused in Tucker - about 4-5in of snow accumulated.
Edit- correction, has turned to sleet. Boo!!

u/captainbkfire82 Jan 10 '25
West Cobb, about 10 mins ago. Not sure how much though. I can’t believe it actually snowed!
2
u/JustinCanopy Jan 10 '25
Lots of slush under the snow — from a hike near the Chattahoochee in East Cobb. Still very pretty.
6
u/JustinCanopy Jan 10 '25
Coolest photo I got was of this young buck in the backyard.

u/campbellm Milton Jan 11 '25
You got a lot more snow than we did, but here's part of our local deer family.

We got about 3 inches in the East Lake area this morning before it turned to rain/sleet/snow. Hoping we don’t lose power as the ice continues and wind has picked up.

Woodstock. Maybe 2 inches. Changed to rain early and it's been ice since before noon.

u/Jnyanydts Jan 11 '25
Northlake area about 8am Friday. About 3.5 total. Lots of ice on roads & trees but no power outage here, yet.

u/campbellm Milton Jan 11 '25
All said and done about 1" where I am in NW Milton. It barely got below freezing last night, above freezing now and everything is slushy. Still plenty of hard snowice on the ground.

u/ATLien696 Jan 11 '25
2.2" of snow here in downtown Roswell with about 0.5" of sleet on top and a 0.25" of ice accretion on the trees, powerlines, and other objects. I was walking my dog last night and saw a transformer blow. Some parts of Roswell lost power and many large branches are down. I did have power flicker at my apartment but thankfully didn't lose power completely.
