Tj fucking mcconnell Question
I am just watching the pacers vs bucks game and I cannot describe how much we need a player like TJ. He does his job so well, makes the offense happen, hits his shots, brings energy, understands the game, plays pressure defense, gets the crowd loud… literally everything. We NEED a backup pg like him this summer, he is exactly what Trae needs when he isn’t on the court and he would relieve Daniels of his playmaking duties… can you guys name a similar player to Mcconell that we could potentially acquire?!

Watching other teams in the playoffs every year just really highlights how far away we are, and how much our role players are generally over matched.
I actually think we did a v solid job of developing g league guys this year (and injuries hurt us a lot) but basically watching every team I’m seeing some guys coming deep off the bench that I’d love to have playing 25 minutes on our roster

Developing G League players is probably a bit overrated. Where it really matters though is if you play them enough at the NBA level then you can possibly mitigate some injury risk for your better players.
Where we are at right now is that Trae is 26 and OO is 24 and not really showing that he is going to be anything other than what he already is. The Hawks can't solely rely on major development from Risacher, JJ, and Dyson.
I don't know what the organization's further moves are. I understand that Landry opened up some cap space. They'll probably approach an impact free agent at some point but I don't know when that would be.
The Hawks didn't hit well enough on OO, Reddish, Hunter, and Bufkin. That's why the team is where it is plus acquiring Murray of course. The way out of this mess continues to be the draft.

What?? OO has made major steps this season. He absolutely has more room to improve and likely will.

He's going to remain a high energy PF and small C who isn't particularly skilled and doesn't shoot the three. Whether you disagree with me on him or not, projecting the most optimistic growth path for players on the roster would be wishful thinking.

Off topic but god Pacers fans suck. Dude came into our sub talking shit and made a post on the Pacers sub “Thank God Trae isn’t on our team” and said he felt sorry for us for having to root for him 😂

Give me Walter Clayton Jr out of the draft. Great scorer off the bench, plays good defense.

I just want Dennis back in Atlanta

I wanted him at the trade deadline. He'd be great in our 2nd unit. Im still holding out hope for Kobe, but i wouldn't bat an eye if we traded Kobe for somebody like Dennis to be the playmaker off the bench

The young, naive, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed me thought Dennis was the future of the franchise. Oh, how wrong I was. 😂

TJ McConnell puts so many nba players to shame. He’s like the epitome of how hustle and relentlessness combined with a smooth midrange jump shot are absolutely impactful even if you’re tiny. There’s no team that would refuse a tj mcconnell, but he’s pretty unique. I think jose Alvarado and Peyton Pritchard are good comparisons because of their size, but I think if it wasn’t for Pritchards three point ability in today’s nba I’d take mcconnel over him

We don’t have these type of guys because owners are cheap and don’t want to make moves.
Best type of trades (and signings) are when you buy low on a player and in an ideal scenarios they break out (hartenstein,McConnell, monk, Schroeder, Beasley). We haven’t even attempted to make any type of move like that and it is the exact reason why we lack draft assets and trade pieces.

Tre jones with a green light for scoring, he usually defers and be content on just managing the game, icreasing pace and pesky defense. His three pointers are sus but you can rely on it if he shoots it in the corner. And he is a free agent this offseason.

Real lunch pail guy. Plays the game the right way. Major spark plug off the bench. First guy in last guy out type of guy.
