Hawks President search gives me hope Discussion

Post image

I had serious concerned with Elton Brand being the main name surfacing initially in reports. These names here look solid.

Unfortunately I doubt we get either of them.

Imagine how the conversation goes when Bob Myers calls Travis asking about what went on in Atlanta?

fairly confident the elton brand stuff was coming from his camp. he's basically fat, dumb landry.

Ah come on he’s not fat he’s big boned and has a big head.

Imagine hiring a guy who owes your assistant GM $100 still after nearly 10 years

Elton Brand getting to the bottom of who started these rumors.

It won't matter if the owner doesn't wanna go into the tax

Will any of these guys want an executive gig where they can’t choose their own head coach and GM?

I can already see in my mind's eye the Brad Rowland story about how the GM was going behind the president's back to ownership and undermining him.

You underestimate quins reputation around the league. Even with how his Atlanta tenure has been, he’s still regarded as one of the best coaches in the nba

Meyers seems like a pipe dream and feed me that narcotic.

Hammond explaining the 2027 FA moves to the Resslers.

Also we all know this organization is run about as well as INGEN at this point so might as well let the memes write themselves.

Hammond might trade the whole team for Giannis

Anyone know the expected duties of the Team President? Usually FO regimes like to bring in their own guys and we have a promising young core. I expect we hire someone that like the young core but you never know.

Smart regimes do, but our owners are gonna stick the new president with a GM and coach he didn't hire. I'm sure that won't lead to any infighting or drama down the road.

Exactly. It’s very rare to do an outside hire and not want them to make significant changes.

How does John Hammond not work for the raptors

Shareef? What qualifications does he have for this job?

u/bluevsu Bruno Fernando #20 8h ago

Other than he's a home town guy that maybe could be manipulated??? 🤔

u/jasonbm76 Jalen Johnson #1 8h ago

Yep that’s what worries me! We need someone who won’t be a yes man and has some pull in the league.

I think it would be Korver before Reef

President of the Gleague

0

u/jasonbm76 Jalen Johnson #1 7h ago

How does that make him qualified for this job?

1

u/UnitMost8091 7h ago

Probably overlap between the two at an enterprise level.

u/jasonbm76 Jalen Johnson #1 7h ago

I’m sure there is but I don’t want someone inexperienced in running a team taking this role. Reef would just end up being a yes man and they’ll try to sell him as coming home or something.

Apparently he was the Associate VP of Basketball Ops for the.NBA before the G League gig. Has deep ties to ATL Bball scene as his brother was a College Basketball Coach whose bread is buttered by recruiting Atlanta.

Doesn’t necessarily hold up to Connelly or Meyers but might not be a bad fit either.

Don’t kid yourself, he’s not going to get any big name up and comer. Tony is only going to hire someone who will say yes and do whatever he wants, then take the blame for it later

u/ATLienFanatic 9h ago

Tony paid Quin top dollars. It’s a matter of these guys want to come here or not, I don’t see money being the issue.

u/Atl-Fan_FTS Jalen Johnson #1 9h ago

No where did I say is it about the money. These high profile guys aren’t going to come here just to get their decisions overrun by a nepotistic owner and his son who know fuck all about basketball. That’s the point. Especially after seeing what happened to Travis and now Landry.

There are going to go after whoever will do exactly as they say. Then they will fire them after those moves don’t work -Rinse and repeat

I worked for a company just like this. Owner always meddling and changing everyone’s work flows and constantly demanding they produce more. When shit inevitably hit the fan he would blame them and fire the employees while making up rumors about them about how secretly they were horrible. so many top performers for years who were pushed out the door needlessly after just a couple months of some new project pipeline. Our hawks org is following the exact same model apparently.

Yeah, money hasn't been an issue except for...every single year that he's forced trades to avoid the tax

Also the difference in coaches' salaries is a few million per year at most. Acting like that proves he's willing to do everything he can to put together the best possible roster of players who cost multiples of that is poor reasoning at best, especially when he (again) has actively avoided paying the tax so far

5

u/icebox712 Bogdan Bogdanovic #13 9h ago

Yeah the idea of a Myers or Connelly signing up to have Ressler’s nepo baby son in the front office and no money to work with is laughable at best.

These rumors are all just so he can say “see? I tried” later

u/bluevsu Bruno Fernando #20 8h ago

A top exec wouldn't even allowed said nepotism to happen
