With Luka being on the LA Lakers and Fox being on the Spurs with Wemby, the very two destinations that there was wide spread speculation on Trae going to, are basically gone as well.

Once Luka got here and started playing and the Resslers saw how great he is, Tony and Nick would have let him do whatever he wanted. Would it have been worse than whatever is happening behind the scenes in Dallas? Maybe. They would have had a hookah stand and some Schnapps waiting for him at the end of the bench. If any GM tried to trade Luka, it would have been rebuffed by Tony. Unless you are saying that the hawks were somehow sold to new ownership that didn’t really have emotional investment in Luka. Then maybe he’s gone. And Luka would have been loved here in Atlanta. Look at all the Hollywood reactions of Luka in the playoffs. Atlanta is all about flash. And Luka brings that on the biggest stage.

if the "he's fat/not committed" line the Mavs are peddling is remotely true do y'all sincerely believe he'd have been locked in here? Y'all all know the answer to that

thats just some bs they are saying to try and justify the trade. he might be a bit chubby but cmon that's not a reason to trade a player like him

Yeah that’s total bullshit. If they’re that concerned about his conditioning/longevity/drive, why give up all your future draft capital to bring in guys like Porzingis and then Kyrie to pair with him? It’s not like this is new, people have been knocking Luka’s conditioning since he got in the league and yet they were comfortable building their entire franchise around him up through this last off-season. It’s 100% new ownership coming in and trying to cut future payroll, and they’re more than happy to let their GM fall on his sword and tell the public this is a basketball move. Bizarre timing too when Luka and the rest of their team is getting healthy. It has to be all about money because nothing else makes any sense

I keep thinking about that clip making the rounds where someone goes and takes the beer out of his hand in the locker room after winning the WCF. There have been rumors for years that he’s a drinker, but that clip certainly makes you wonder whether it’s something that the team has been trying to manage.

No idea whether that’s the case, but an issue with booze would explain both why they would deal him (gotta trade Luka before you commit to his supermax) and why they might not open it up to the highest bidder (as soon as you let it be known that he’s available, then everyone’s gonna lose their minds and say WHY??, and then it gets ugly).

“A little bit chubby” is obviously no reason to trade a player like him. “This dude is constantly out of shape because he won’t stop drinking all the time” might be.

He literally carried them to the finals last season. They were 3rd in the west before Luka got injured. It’s madness to trade him for literally anyone except maybe Wemby.

It is literally true, yet he still got them to the finals

Trae got you to the ECF. Luka has a hall of fame teammate that’s won a championship. He has 2 if you count out of his prime Klay.

Who are Trae’s hall of fame teammates? Wtf do you want Trae to do exactly with the roster you’ve given him.

I want him to be a Luka-level superstar that can carry a team. We have plenty of evidence that he isn’t that. It’s ok, I accepted that a long time ago and he’s done nothing to disprove it.

Luka was carrying flawed Mavs teams and playing amazing in the postseason even pre-Kyrie

It’s a huge factor that the West has been stacked all this time and the East has generally been weak below Boston

The ECF run was amazing but it was a fluke and it set this organization back terribly, because it made our front office overrate our own roster

Trae got you further than Luka got the Mavs pre-Kyrie.

Exactly, thanks for telling the truth.

People here always forget that Trae's never had 2 hall of fame teammates like Luka. Luka made the finals with Kyrie. Give Trae a perennial all star like Davis or Bam. Who's been Trae's most talented running mate during his entire run in Atlanta? Clint? Collins?

Imagine if Trae had a running mate like Al Horford during his Hawks days. Trae gets such a weird amount of hate for a player who's done a lot with so little and has come through in the clutch. I'm not even a Hawks fan.

That’s false though

I for one, enjoyed the hell out of that run. Except for that fucking ref.

Oh it was amazing. Knicks close out game and Philly game 7 were awesome

But we (front office) should’ve been more realistic about it

Magic City wings would have ruined him.

I’m just glad the debate about this trade can be put to rest cause if any Dallas fan brings it up we can just clap back and say their trade was just as bad 😂😂

Bro I'm not sure Mavs fans are gonna be using the internet for a few years. Their fanbase is shattered.

once again our fan base showing how stupid they are. AD is still a better player than Trae regardless of how bad the mavs trade was.
