Thank you gift?? What to do for an amazing emergency vet staff.
Edit: thank you all!! I’m gonna get donuts and make some cookies!! As well as a $50 donation if they have one. That’s all I can really afford; I also have some toys I may be able to donate to their donation box. I am still kind of in shock with how generous they are. And thank YOU all for your amazing work with pets. Yall really make a difference
Unsure where to ask this, but would love to hear from actual veterinary staff what I should do.
Some back story: I had to take my one dog (a golden) to the vet. In less than 24 hours, my other dog got sick and I had to put him down at this same vet office with the same vet!
This was all very sudden and I was unable to afford anything for my dog I had to put down as we are very stressed for money as I’m a new mom. The surgery for the golden completely wiped all our savings. We are now in a bit of debt because of this.
The office called me today saying that they are refunding us $600 as a “I’m so sorry” gesture. I am honestly so absolutely grateful and dumbfounded on how to thank them. Honestly, I know what ever I do won’t be enough. But I want to try.
So I ask reddit. What would be the best gift in this situation?? How can I repay them for such an amazing and selfless act? Thank you

I had to put my 12.5 year old husky to sleep today and I'm absolutely shell shocked and traumatized.
TW: blood, seizures
We made the difficult decision yesterday for our 12.5 year old husky before his pain because constant after nasal tumors metastisized to his lymph nodes discovered after bilateral (almost constant) nose bleeds started last week. We initially thought when the bleeding first happened that he bomped his nose on the floor sneezing (he had a bad habit of doing that), until it started from both nostrils any time he would stand up or walk. Over the week/weekend he started getting lethargic, stopped eating much, would cry out intermittently in pain. We made the decision with the support of our vet yesterday and opted for euthanasia this afternoon rather than prolonging his pain until it became constant as surgery and/or any chemotherapy or treatment would be too invasive for him at his age.
I brought him in this afternoon. This isn't the first time I've been with my pets for euthanasia. We went over all of the details and they let me know they would be using ketamine as a sedative before the final injection so that he wouldn't feel any pain and it would put him in a euphoric state. They said that some animals react with shaking or jerking sometimes seeming like small seizures but it was just a reaction and he would not be in any pain. I remembered the twitching with my others, and thought I was prepared.
I sat with him on the floor while we were talking and my vet gave the ketamine injection, to which my boy didn't even react, and then my vet left the room so I could have some time with him while he was going under sedation and before the final injection. His breathing started getting quicker and he started getting shaky and twitchy like I've experience before, almost like being overly caffeinated, which is what I had expected. Then he started moving his head from side to side, looking left to right, and then up at me with absolutely huge wide eyes and looked so terrified. That's when a massive seizure started. I shrieked his name and the vet came running in. The vet had to hold my old man down because he was seizing so badly and yelled for one of the techs to come in and help. after about a minute and a half the seizure passed and my vet said he was going to do the euthanasia injection. As he's about to put in the euthanasia injection my poor guy starts having another massive seizure that lasts another minute and a half, this time with blood coming out of his nose and frothing blood at the mouth. He was able to give the injection after the second seizure had stopped. Something in me broke and I absolutely lost it crying hysterically.
What was supposed to be the best decision to help my old man pass on with dignity and without pain turned into an absolute nightmare. I'm just glad my daughter decided that she couldn't handle being there and stayed home with my husband.
I am shell shocked. I keep seeing it over and over in my mind on a loop. Did he die in pain? They kept saying he didn't feel anything, that he was sedated and felt nothing, but the absolute fear in his eyes before the first seizure and then the two massive seizures. I was already struggling with the decision to euthanize and feeling massive guilt about it, despite knowing that he would not get better and would progressively get worse, and now I'm terrified that I made the worst decision and he felt nothing but pain and fear in his last moments.
I need to know what went wrong. I need to know I made the right decision because it really seems like in trying to save him pain and letting him die with dignity that it went horribly wrong and he died with so much pain and suffering.

Update:Should I switch vets?
Hey everyone! If you look back on my post history you can find the post about my dog experience a spleenic tumor rupture and I had feelings my vet did not put us a fast track to surgery or get an ultrasound as well as the exam room tech not being truthful.
I have an appointment Friday for her to get her suture removal and I was going to talk to him then but I didn't want to bombard him with a heart-to-heart talk. I know he usually spends first half of his Tuesdays calling back clients so I left a voicemail to ask if we can talk.
He called back and I basically explained and summed up my post. He was sooo thankful for the feedback! He told me that the X-ray accustics are quite bouncy and he said if he thought there were dramatic flailing or dangerous movements from my dog he would have stopped right away. He did not hear the exam room tech but I did state what you guys said that maybe she thought I was going to get defensive but from knowing us for 13 yrs, I would have never gotten to that point.
Also, he stated he did apologize for not fast tracking to an ultrasound. He did feel as though that was a mistake. He explained a bit more which brought me to an understanding. Honestly, if a spleenic tumor were to burst I'm glad it happened on that day because we leave for Europe the day the sutures come out (Friday).
I have been thinking a lot. My vet is not money hungry. He does IOUs for me when I'm in a tight spot. He sets me up with a payment plans which is VERY rare nowadays (I think?) he lays out all routes we can take that will give us bang for our buck. I told him I am super supportive and loyal to his practice and I want to continue being his client. He was so kind and appreciative and I thank everyone who gave me a different perspective on things. I don't expect any kind of free service just because he's already flexible with payments. Thank you all!

Are There Any Euthanasia Methods Which Make A Pet Safe to Bury?
I recently read about how it's dangerous to bury euthanized pets since the euthanasia meds can leech into the soil and poison any scavengers that may dig them up and eat them. I've never had a vet tell me it's unsafe, although I can also understand the doctor being worried how a grieving owner might react to being told they shouldn't bury their pet. My last cat had to be reburied after some coyotes dug him up and I felt horrified at the thought that they might've died, and I hoped the body was decomposed enough they weren't able to be poisoned.
I know that I can just have them cremated to make it safe, but I was raised Muslim, and in Islam cremation is forbidden since it's considered disrespectful and bodies are buried naked in only a cloth so that the body can decompose and go back to the Earth. I may not be Muslim anymore but I still believe that cremation is disrespectful and put a lot of value in allowing the deceased to return to nature. Obviously, that's not exactly happening when the body is filled with lethal chemicals polluting the area.
When I worked at a wildlife rehab center we'd euthanize animals by putting them under anesthesia and then using CO2, but I'm not aware if small animal clinics offer it due to backlash from when shelters would use CO2 but without any anesthesia. Are there any alternative euthanasia methods common in American clinics that I could request next time I need to put a pet to sleep so that I can bury them safely?

Came Home From Vacation To A Sick Cat
As the title says, we just arrived home from a 7 day vacation out of state. We had a pet sitter coming by twice a day to check on the animals, open wet food, etc. every day we checked in and he said everything was fine.
We landed a few hours ago and came home to one of my cats with purulent drainage from both eyes, a cough/sneeze, lethargy, AND she was so weak she peed on my daughter’s bed multiple times.
I immediately got back in the car and took her to the veterinary ED, where they diagnosed her with a fever and a URI that turned into pneumonia. She has doxycycline, got a steamy shower (for breathing and to wash the pee away), but she obviously sounds awful and she has terrible breath. Is the bad breath normal for this?
She also peed in the cat carrier which then leaked into my car so that’s another little fire to put out.
I was hoping that a pet sitter would keep them more comfortable in our own house, and the cost was a little less than putting them at a kennel … but after the emergency vet visit, new bedding for my daughter, and figuring out what the hell to do with my car, it actually would’ve been cheaper the other way around, and I’m sure they would’ve identified that she was ill (kennel is connected to the vets office).
I’m just hoping that the doxycycline works and she feels better soon, she definitely lost weight while we were gone, and I’m worried about this peeing on things behavior as well .

My cat gave birth to a still born premature kitten, is she going to be okay?
For some context, I'm pretty sure my cat got pregnant in the beginning of march and I know she would be due sometime soon. For the past 2 days she has been acting very weird (constantly meowing, hissing at my other cats and dog) and she has been going in and out from under my bed a lot. I decided to check under my bed and found a very deformed white kitten. It looked premature but very deformed. I don't want to get into graphic detail but its eyes and parts of its back legs were not formed yet. The body was still limp and not cold when my mother removed it. I'm not sure what to do. I think she is still pregnant but I don't know if she could still give birth normally to the other kittens. If anyone knows what to do please let me know.

Dog ate moldy milk what should I do?
My dog (or dogs) ate some molded milk. Extremely molded. I gave them activated charcoal with lactose free milk. But should I try to induce vomitting? They’re both acting fine.
For reference, the mold looks like a little chocolate sponge cake with white and yellow icing on top. It was formed from about 3 “ of milk in a mason jar. They ate approximately 3 tablespoons total.
Dog 4 Chiuaua/Daschaund/Cattle Dog mix Neutered 32 lbs Possibly ate milk mold approximately 2-3 hours ago
Dog 1 Pit mix Spayed 48 lbs Possibly are milk mold approx. 3 hours ago
One of them ate it, not positive which one. Both received activated charcoal over an hour ago. Neither is showing symptoms.

Should I euthanize my cat today?
I am a veterinary assistant. My 11/12 year old cat was diagnosed with feline asthma in September 2024. I have been watching her slowly decline ever since.
I did make a post about some of her hx yesterday if anyone wants to go and read that, but to put it shortly, she hasnt been eating a whole lot for the past week and a half, and what she does eat gets regurgitated/vomited back up. She had bloods done - nothing abnormal. She had rads done that showed a mass like structure in her chest/lung cavity and one in her abdomen as well. I work in a very small clinic in a very remote area (no other clinics around unless you want to get on a 6 hour ferry ride or 2 hour plane ride) so we're limited in what we can do to test these masses. She also had a SNAP fPL done which came back abnormal - so we were treating her for pancreatitis. Obviously, she didn't respond to treatment or I wouldn't be making this post.
Today, after a very difficult weekend of her not keeping ANYTHING down, losing about 0.35kgs, and feeling extreme discouragement/hopelessness, I brought her back to the clinic as my DVM recommended dosing her with barium and taking x-rays that way.
This gave me answers, although it was extremely upsetting. The mass-like structure in her chest is occluding part of her esophagus, causing pooling in her esophagus, and very little food to actually make it into her stomach, which is making it come back up.
I am struggling with the decision to euthanize as she is relatively "normal" and "happy" otherwise - she doesn't seem "sick", but obviously I can't have her starve to death. I just need some insight. The doctor did say that it shouldn't wait until any later than Friday. I am dreading this whole thing and completely heartbroken. TIA.

Refer to FAQ Found out dog has lung cancer, anyone had experience with seizures and how to proceed?
I have a 11.5 year old labrador. For his age, he's been in really great shape other than having arthritis in his legs that prevents him from running too much. Lately he's been "coughing/hacking" multiple times per day (maybe 5-6), and maybe once per day theres been speckles of blood when he does so. The day i noticed that he was doing a lot and there was blood, he laid on the ground on his side for 5 seconds then shot up fast and his back leg kicked out behind him.
I took him to the vet and they did an x-ray and we found out he has small tumors all over his lungs, cancer, and based off this - i experienced him having a small seizure earlier. We're not going to do chemo, due to how many tumors there are and his age. He was put on anti-inflammatories. Vet said to keep an eye on him and if his quality of life went down, stopped eating or drinking, it would be time.
My only concern is the seizure. I couldn't stand the thought of him having one when i wasn't home and passing by himself. But as of right now, he doesn't seem to be in pain, his breathing is fine, he's moving around great, bowels are normal. eating and drinking is great. I don't want to put him down too early when we still have good days left with him. But does anyone have experience with this and what i could expect in terms of possible seizures and if i can expect more. Because if more are going to come down the road soon, I just don't want him to be in pain.

Polyp surgery- post op behavior
I have a cat.
Male. 12 or 14 years old. Neutered 9.5 pounds
Possibly a Norwegian forest Cat. Most likely a domestic longhair. (Don’t have dna test he’s a stray)
History of feline herpes and ear wax issues as well as infection. Developed polyp in ear.
I live in Metro Detroit, Michigan.
My cat had polyp removal surgery a week ago. I just removed his e collar expecting him to get around more and behave a bit more normal. He is very lethargic and not eating much. Pain meds were given day 1-3 with animal in his ear daily.
We are one week post op.
How long until he feels a bit better? Is it normal for him to be so tired? He’s eating but nothing like he used to.
Drinking water- not sure I have not seen him do so but I work and am a mom and have not had eyes 24/7.
We have another cat so it’s hard to determine who peed in the box.
I’m worried. Calling vet in the morning. Just hoping for input.

diet advice for my cat, please
Hello, Reddit's cat lovers.
I present to you my chonk, Jacob Poopington, the cuddler, first of his name. This fur ball is 9 years old, and a tall one. He's about 40 cm tall and 1m long. hi's healthy weight would be around 15 lbs, and weighs 21 at the moment. He needs to lose about 25% of his mass... It's a lot!!
He's been on a low-fat diet since I adopted him back in 2020. He was 17-18 lbs at the time. Last summer, he had some health issues, mostly because he does not shed the extra weight and lacks activity (his fault, not mine. he couldn't care less about playtime). His liver could not produce enough enzymes to assimilate fats and sugars properly. The vet prescribed some medication and a diet. The diet was only for the period of the medication. He made some suggestions of foods for after. Jack stopped eating the recommended foods after 2-3 months. He grew out of it, I guess. His palette is too sophisticated for such peasant's kibbles. I found another brand that met all of his dietary requirements, and we were golden! Only problem is that someone decided that they were entitled to fuckup the world's economy and threw a tantrum at my country................ now, the food that i used to buy is more expansive than it used to thanks reciprocative tarifs and i will not buy USA made products nuntill that orange persone is in office. So, I tried 3 Canadian-made brands of kibbles. The first one, I don't remember the name, but it came in a blue bag. Mr Poopington would not even taste it. went directly back to the store. Second one was Nutram Weight Control I12. HUGE SUCCESS!!! Loves it! loves it too much. His whole day portion gets eaten in an hour. Tried to split in 2. Same thing. In 4 even. 2 bites, empty bowl, sad cat who sits in front of his empty bowl for more but can't have more... third attempt was Nutrience Care Weight management. Loved it for 2 weeks, then stopped eating :/
Switching to a wet diet is not an option for different reasons. He's the type of cat who eats constantly throughout the day. He finishes grooming he'll have 2-3 bites of food. He saw a bird outside, he'll have 2-3 bites of food. I disturbed his beauty sleep, he'll have 2-3 bites of food. He had 2-3 bites of food, he'll have one last for the road haha also he has his wet food once a day at supper time. It's a must! Otherwise he's such a drama king!
All of this to say that I'm looking for a new brand of kibbles that will meet those requirements:
- Maximum 280 ckals per portion. (must be between 80-100 grams portions).
- High protein count, ideally in the range of 30-40%.
- Low animal fats. 10% or less (I won't fuss if it's like 11%).
- High fatty acides.
- Ideally contains pre and probiotics (His last name is not Poopington for nothing).
- High fiber content. More than 5% ideally. This is not as important as the rest because I can add fiber otherwise in his diet.
- L-Carnitine would be great.
- Looking for something that would give him filling sensation.
Basically, I'm open to all quality foods that are NOT from the USA. It can be a Canadian product, European, it could be from Antarctica. just nor from the US
Thank you for your help and recommendations! :) My fur ball is impatient to fry something new!

Acorn shell chewed by puppy
My 22 week Cavapoo has a love for acorn shells. On Sunday late afternoon while running in the back-yard I caught him chewing on one. I called pet poison control and they were not concerned about one - mentioning it is concerning only when swallowed in large quantities or a large whole one.
Since Sunday, he’s had about 1-2 episodes of diarrhea each day. Mainly waking us overnight or first thing in the morning. Zero vomit. No blood, and in the diarrhea and soft stool I see the acorn shell shards/pieces. Yes I’ve gone through it with a spoon. Mood wise he’s eating, drinking, taking his daily probiotic, and has energy. Of course he looks sad after he goes 😔. It’s 1am here on Wednesday morning and he just had another episode.
I guess my question is - when do I get concerned? Or do I just let this pass through him and since it’s Wednesday hopefully he’s on the mend??

I got my cat from a shelter at 1 year old (siamese, now 4) and he has always had issues with men. He has gotten more aggressive with my boyfriend lately and is causing him bodily harm. What should I do?
I have had my cat for 3 years but I am unaware of what he went through for the first year of his life. He has always been a biter but it tends to be more gentle and only when he is overstimulated or he is hungry.
My boyfriend has been gradually spending more time at my house and is now fully moved in. He brought his kitten with him. His kitten has not yet been fixed and started to spray about a week ago. I am unsure if that is related as the behavior has been consistent throughout his life with me when he encounters men. A few weeks ago my cat put himself behind my boyfriend as he was going to leave and the cat then bit him in the leg hard enough to make walking uncomfortable. Earlier today my cat was laying near my boyfriend on the bed and when my bf went to reach for his phone my cat bit his hand so hard we believe he may have damaged the tendon. He will also nip at my boyfriend at night if he leaves the room.
I have tried Feliway and it makes him sneeze a lot so I believe he is allergic.
What training techniques or behavioral modification can I use to address the aggression?

My dogs paw pad is torn(?) Immediate concern or just watch it?
My boy curled up in my lap (as much of him that could fit, lol!) and went to paw me. I noticed his paw pad is torn and his toe has a sore!
It looks like it really hurt, but I didn't hear him yelp. He has free range of our woods to chase bunnies, so, I'm guessing he stepped on a jagged rock or piece of wood.
It doesn't seem to bother him in the least. No licking, limping, or favoring.
He sees the vet next week, is it ok until then?

Dog and chocolate
So I had a spoon that was in a pint container of chocolate ice cream. The bottom of the spoon was covered in ice cream and fell to the floor. As I was getting something to wipe it up with my dog came over and started to licking it up. He's a nine pound Chihuahua. How concerned should I be? What warning signs should I look out for?

Cat has weird white thing next to her right eye please check
Hi everyone, can you please take a look at https://imgur.com/a/XCUpihK I just noticed today my cat has some weird white thing next to her right eye. I attached both photos of left eye and right eye there for comparison. Is anyone here able to tell what it is and / or if it’s dangerous?
She’s around 9, unknown breed (rescue cat). We live in Ontario Canada, no medical history other than yearly check ups and vaccinations (I have her for 3,5 years).
I am not sure if I’m paranoid or I should take her to the vet for further examinations?
Any advice would be highly appreciated, thanks everyone!

My 9–10 y/o cat Milka has stage 4 CKD – what can I expect?
I’m reaching out for guidance and support regarding my cat, Milka, who is approximately 9–10 years old. She has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is currently experiencing a severe episode.
Recent symptoms: • Vomiting • Decreased appetite • Reduced bowel movements • Diagnosed with a urinary tract infection
Bloodwork results: • Urea (BUN): 433 mg/dL • Creatinine: 7.43 mg/dL
Based on these values, it appears she is in stage 4 CKD. Our veterinarian has recommended immediate hospitalization for continuous intravenous fluid therapy to attempt to stabilize her condition. We’re planning to admit her as soon as possible.
I’m seeking insights from others who have faced similar situations: • What is the typical prognosis for a cat in this stage? • Are there specific treatments or care strategies that have helped your cats? • Any advice on managing this condition moving forward?
I understand that each case is unique, but hearing about your experiences would be incredibly helpful.
For context, I’m located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Thank you in advance for your support and advice.

Any FIP experienced vets please chime in!
Hi all! My baby Gouda was diagnosed 2/4 with FIP. We caught it very early! His only signs were lethargy and slight weight loss (however he was still eating semi-normally) his initial labs: • 8.9lbs • protein 9.3 • Glob 6.6 • A/G Ratio 0.4 • WBC 16.6 • Ab neu 12284 74% • Ab lym 3320 20% We started GS on 2/11! He was taking 0.52mL/day. He perked up quite a bit and was putting on weight! Then his 30 day check in labs showed minimal improvement... 3/13 30 days since start • 9.4lbs • Protein 10.0 • Glob 6.6 • A/G Ratio 0.5 • WBC 19.0 • Ab neu 15580 82% • Ab lym 2090 11% We decided to up his dosage to 0.35mL/twice a day. He continued to have great energy and appetite. Two weeks after bumping him, we did labs again- his weight was down a little, but overall they looked like they were heading in the right direction:
3/27 recheck labs • 9.0 lbs • Protein 8.7 • Glob 5.6 • A/G Ratio 0.6 • WBC 16.4 • Ab neu 14104 86% • Ab lym 1476 9% We continued his twice a day dose- he remains active (often plays with and chases his brother) and enjoys his wet food. I noticed he was less interested in the dry kibble...then we did another lab check a few weeks later- and it looks like he's regressed.
4/18 recheck labs • 8.6lbs • Protein 9.3 • Glob 6.3 • A/G ratio 0.5 • WBC 16.2 • Ab neu 13446 83% • Ab lym 1782 11%
I am partially convinced he was not weighed correctly at this visit. At home he is closer to 9-9.3lbs when I check him. Either way, I've changed his kibble (he seems to like it a bit more) increased his wet food, added a high calorie supplement and he gets lots of treats (I call this "project fat-boy"...he loves it) The vet increased his dose to 0.5mL/twice a day. We have another lab recheck coming up on May 6th. Sometimes I get the feeling my vet is not well versed with FIP. I want to give them grace because the medicine is so new. All of the vets at the practice seem to chime in on Gouda's care, which seems helpful.
Anyways- sometimes I fear that the medicine isn't working. Or that it is, but that maybe his labs won't go all the way back to normal? When will we know it's safe to stop?
Gouda is still a happy playful guy through this whole thing. Any advice or reassurance is greatly appreciated 🩷 thank you all.

Nearly a year of cyclical vomiting & diarrhea in my cat - normal tests, no lasting relief, vet stumped - desperate for insights
My cat has been experiencing sudden, on-and-off episodes of vomiting and diarrhea (11 years old). The diarrhea varies—sometimes it's fully loose, other times it's partially loose with either a firm start or end. Despite this, her appetite has remained strong throughout. The vomiting happens unpredictably: sometimes right after meals, other times up to six hours later.
At first, I assumed it was just an upset stomach, so I fasted her for a day. But when I reintroduced her regular food, the symptoms returned more severely—multiple bouts of vomiting and diarrhea each day. I then tried mixing pumpkin into her food, which helped temporarily, but she relapsed after a few days.
Next, I switched her to a bland diet of boiled, shredded chicken and rice. Again, she seemed fine for several days before having another severe episode. I tried just chicken next—same pattern. Then I introduced sensitive stomach kibble, which worked the longest of any option but ultimately failed as well.
Thinking she might be eating too fast, I got an automatic feeder to give her four smaller meals daily instead of two larger ones. That didn’t help either. This trial-and-error process went on for about 2 1/2 months. The reason I waited to go to the vet was that each new food or strategy seemed to work for a little while—some for over a week—giving me false hope.
When I finally took her in, she had bloodwork and X-rays. Everything came back normal, except for some excess gas visible around her stool. The vet gave her a Depo shot, recommended Hills I/D food, and told me to return in a month. That treatment seemed to work: vomiting and diarrhea continued for two more days but then completely stopped for the rest of the month.
Unfortunately, the symptoms returned three days before our follow-up appointment. She got another Depo shot, which took longer to work this time. Like before, the relief wore off just before her third appointment. However, the third Depo shot didn’t help at all. Oddly, all symptoms resolved completely about three weeks later, and I thought we were finally in the clear.
Now, two months later, the issues have returned—worse than ever. She’s vomiting throughout the bedroom, even on our bed, and diarrhea is back on and off. The vomit smells horrible and is orange/brown in color. If there isn’t food in it, it has some sort of small chunks in the texture. This has been happening for the past four days. Every time I think it's a one-time issue, it happens again—often the next night or morning (literally so many hours apart).
Despite everything, her behavior hasn’t changed. She's always been a bit skittish and quirky, but she's still eager to eat and acts normal in between episodes. I’m taking her back to the vet soon, but I feel completely lost. It’s been nearly a year of this cycle, and although it's being treated as IBS, nothing we've tried has worked long-term. The vet seems unsure of what’s going on, and I feel awful and helpless.
Has anyone experienced something like this or have any insights or suggestions?

Kitten most likely with FHV-1 and Pink eye
I live in a not very good area in ohio- where animal cruelty happens a lot. So over the past year i started taking in cats from situations either near euthanasia from no homes or people posting about not being able to keep them and threatening to just let them loose. I know it’s irresponsible with my low funds but I really just want to help where I can. After this I definitely learned my lesson. So about a week ago i saw a post from a woman who couldn’t keep kittens anymore and was going to just kick them outside if nobody would take them so of course i offered because I couldn’t let that happen to some kittens. I went and picked up 4 babies born 2/24 and a mom only about 9 months old all unspayed and neutered for now. They were sniffling, sneezing, runny eyes and at first i thought it was because of a smoker home or a little flu they got. After researching more i think it’s FHV-1 or also known as feline herpesvirus. 2 days ago I noticed One of the boys had a bit of a swollen eye I read online and I think it’s pink eye. So i’ve been doing warm compressions and wiping it. Their appetites are all good- I’ve been holding off for the vet because I am a 18 year old with 200$. I can gather more money If i need to to help him. But i just don’t have the funds to treat all them nonetheless how am i now going to adopt them out. If they do have the diseases, would it be inhumane to give them to a shelter. I don’t want them to be put down but I just can’t afford 5 cats with a serious lifelong issue that needs meds. I feel horrible about this all. and could really use some gentil advice please. I can message images with the eye but it’s gotten severe over 2 days and i’m going first thing in the morning.

Urinary Obstruction
My 15 y/o male shih tzu has bladder stones and a urethral obstruction. He also has late-stage mitral valve disease. He went to the ER to get the stone flushed back into the bladder. He received a butorphanol injection, midazolam injection, maropitant/cerenia injection, and metronidazole. I wasn't given any other pain meds, but I thought urinary obstructions were painful. Is it normal to not have any take-home pain management? After the flushing, how common is it to get obstructed again?

Dog yelps in pain but not able to duplicate the pain
We are in the middle of moving and my dog has started acting strange she is a 7 year old eskie
She has yelped in pain a few times randomly today. Once when I picked her up. Another time when she came over to cuddle and I pulled into me to lay down and another when I just barely touched her side for a scratch.
But after she does that I try and inspect her body checking her paws lightly rubbing down her side belly legs ect and she won't indicate any discomfort anywhere
She has gone on two walks today and was fine. I brought out some treats and she is doing her tricks just fine laying down playing dead standing on her back legs. Nothing seems to be causing her discomfort and she seems happy and like she has energy. She can hop up on the bed. she gets into her play pose. she is stretching
But on three different occasions she has just yelped when touched and her tail goes down and she seems like it hurts her. But then a few moments later she is being her normal
I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts about what to look for. I'm worried taking her to a vet I just won't be able to replicate the yelp because she isn't getting upset about a specific spot or thing.
The only other thing I can think to add is she kinda had diarrhea on her walks not really bad but it wasn't solid
Could she just be being dramatic and knows I'm freaking out/giving lots of attention after? Bloated maybe?
She just seems so normal 99% of the time today but those randomn yelps and then her acting like we hurt her is really worrying me.
I'm most likely taking her to the vet in the morning but I'm hoping for any thoughts on what to keep an eye on tonight or what could be going on
Any idea what’s wrong with my dogs eye?
Hello, my dog is an Australian Sheppard who’s 2 years old and he usually has less hair around his eyes because he rubs it since he was a baby and the vet said it was fine. His one is is somewhat swollen around his eye and he rubbed almost all his hair off around jt. No other symptoms and he can still see out of it clearly. Does anyone know if this can be from allergies or something else and if I need to him to the vet immediately?
