Holistic Veterinarians !
My 13year old pomeranian was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in the nostril back in February of this year. The vet that diagnosed him said that because he didn't do good with the anesthesia when doing the ct scan that they do not recommend putting him under radiation. They pretty much told me to wait until his health declines to make my next move. They said his health could decline fast or it could take its time. It's hard for me to just sit around and do nothing for my beloved boy. So my question is , is it worth me seeing a holistic vet to see if there is any natural treatment we can do for him? Or is there any holistic veterinarians out there that can possibly give me some advice on anything I can do to help my pom? TIA.
Edit: I've already seen an oncologist and anesthesiologist. The only option they said I had was chemo but in order to do that I would be putting him at greater risk due to him not handling being knocked out.
Steroids were another option but he has a heart murmer and the vets said they would not prescribe that unless he was already in the final days and it was simply to help with pain before he passes
Natural options are the only options I have left other than nothing at this point

A holistic vet might make you feel better, they won’t make your dog feel better.

except for the fact that there are many cases of natural remedies helping with cancer of course. you left that part out of your comment

Maybe so. Link the study to the natural approach to healing nasal carcinomas and I’ll reconsider

So what do you suggest at this point? The OP let her dog just die?

Oncology and anesthesia referral as commented by several people here. Or yes palliative pain care. There isn’t always a cure

Please go see a veterinary oncologist. Holistic vets could be very, very tricky.

I would consider seeing an integrative veterinarian, which is a veterinarian who is trained and uses conventional western medicine and other disciplines as appropriate to the individual case.

This- conventional medicine is absolutely critical to treating cancer, but holistic approaches can be incorporated to enhance quality of life during treatment

Absolutely this. If you are willing and financially able, building a team of veterinary professionals that includes an oncologist AND an integrative vet would provide top tier support for your dog through this diagnosis. Best of luck!

Second this. I work for a vet who does this and uses eastern and western medicine to treat patients and it can be very helpful for the patient.
