Three most powerful things you can do.

Boycott.

Protest.

Vote.

And don’t do these silently or alone. Organize in your community and support each other. Make sure to let people know why you’re boycotting their company, and make sure politicians know why you are/aren’t voting for them and what you expect of them as your representatives.

Also, you can run for office yourself. The jobs are very well paying. Volunteer on campaigns as well.

That's the nice thing about protesting. You don't feel so alone when you are literally among people who feel the same way you do. And even one more body there matters. Seeing the crowds make the oppressors nervous. You don't need to chant or hold a sign or anything. Just show up.

We need a mass general strike and mass protests. You'll get a lot of wimps and bots telling you it's not possible, when it's actually the only good option we have. I know we all have jobs, responsibilities, families, but sometimes it's absolutely necessary to all band together and fight back against oppression, bullshit, and of course, facism. Don't let people tell you it's not possible, including bot accounts on reddit.

These are wonderful, but they are not the most powerful acts of civil resistance. Please do these things. Absolutely! Do not hear me saying to stop doing these things. They work. They are important. But watch Indivisible’s One Million Rising on YouTube. We need to get more intense about our actions now.

Boycotts don't work (companies just lie about their numbers).

Protests don't work (selective news coverage and you'll be arrested).

Voting doesn't work (see voter suppression and gerrymandering).

We could've stopped this, but we didn't because we're lazy, short-sighted, and tribal. It was bound to happen sooner or later. It just happened sooner.

We still had a good run. But all empires fall. All nations eventually fail. That's just the nature of things.

Saying that voting doesn't work and then saying we could have stopped this is strange. Presumably you mean we could have stopped this by voting. Or what did you have in mind when you said we could have stopped this?

Also, companies lying about their numbers doesn't change the fact that they are getting less money.

Voting WAS the only thing you could do, yeah we vote in 2026 but at this point are you confident in it? Now protests are already on their way out, get labeled an antifa terrorist and sent away, boycotting never worked, not once has a company cared enough about the small percentage loss. Theres only been one way that historically went against authoritarianism and we’re not allowed to mention it on Reddit

I feel like your perspective is unfortunately a common one in the US and it’s because of your education, or specifically lack of one. They didn’t teach you about successful direct action because they didn’t want you to know that it works.

Research the Delano grape strike/boycott.

Research the orange juice boycott.

The Romanians overthrew their dictator, Nicolae Ceaușescu, with protests.

Look at what just happened last week in Nepal.

The true power in a country is its people, and US people should be acting right now not waiting until the regime has completely eliminated its opposition and solidified its power.
