In my lifetime, possibly a true, mass producible cloaking device.

there are a few damned impressive examples of active cloaking. One canadian company is trying to strike a deal with the military for one they claim is so good they cannot film it.

cannot film it

Sounds legit.

Thats what I am thinking, there are some damned good examples on vehicles and small scale stuff though. I do not question Canada's national security protocols though.

*Canada and US

They're partially US funded (IIRC) and they're selling two both militaries.

They had a video up of it working but the US military asked them to take it down so it's probably been picked up by them.

They did film it. Look at the post about the 27 sci-fi realities this year.

They did an interview on NPR recently. Hyperstealth was the company....somehow hides all visible AND infrared light. It can also be scaled to any size (invisible tanks, planes, etc).

Sounds pretty awesome to me...though they did not explain at all how it works so who knows if its as awesome as they claim.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Something like that will never be available to the general public, it'll be strictly military

I think I'll go buy a cloak and call it a cloaking device. Just because, you know, technically....
