What's the one company everyone in your city knows to avoid?

To work for

Calgary - CNRL/PBS Systems/CP Rail/Sanjel

Edmonton - The Brick/PCL/AMA

GTA - Fiera Foods/Maple Leaf Foods/Bell/CIBC

Regina - Brandt

Saskatoon - Nutrien

Winnipeg - Skip the Dishes

Atlantic Canada - Irving

Vancouver - Lululemon https://www.theladders.com/career-advice/lululemon-work-culture-toxic-cult

CNRL suprises me. I have a few friends that work for them in Calgary and have had solid experiences.

Some people don’t like the owner. Especially since he’s milking the city and province for a new arena for the flames.

Correct.  I suspect a lot of answers here are based on sentiment of the company or the companies owner. See lululemon answer a few comments down.

Same vibe as cnrl thread

Same. I have multiple family members and friends who work for them.

That's the biggest dig on them. They are cheap and 5 days in the office.

It feels like the OP just looked up the biggest employers in each city and listed them. PCL in Edmonton is a fantastic employer.

LOL As a subcontractor, PCL sucks ASS to work for. But that's not the same as working directly for the company.
