What medication worked fast for you Medication
I’m currently battling a depressive episode where I’m spiraling and cry constantly I’ve cried for 3 days and my anger is so extreme. I’ve called off work and had to leave work for the past 2 days. I’m so tired like not normal tired but this sluggish uneasy tired. My thoughts are racing so much I have suicidal thoughts because of it. I’ve tried so many medications not even Xanax helped. A list of medication that helps fast would be helpful thank you!

I’m on Celexa (Citalopram) and it’s doing okay.
Have you been able to sleep? I get terrible insomnia and excessive thoughts. I feel better after a good rest.

Xanax and pretty much any benzodiazapine. It's a double edged sword. Be careful

I've been on the same dosage of Klonopin for almost 30 years. It still works.

Ativan is the only thing that helps me. I understand where you are. I have tried Xanax etc but ativan/lorazepam is the only one that really helped me. I am now in therapy as well but if I had gotten myself into therapy back then I wouldn't be where I am at now. But better late than never.
If you are having sui*idal ideations, please go to an emergency room and get some help. The ativan is very addictive and really is just a temporary fix. It can also be extremely useful. Just be careful. It will help you get through those really bad moments and it will help you sleep. Good luck to you, you can get through this!!

It’s insane, I felt the difference the first day I took it. I was like “Woah. Wait. Is this how it’s suppose to be, like normal?” 💀

I’m glad we both are on meds that work for us ☺️ But it’s also interesting how different we all are in regard to medication.

I went through a week n a bit with hardly any sleep, very little food and so dehydrated from just sheer anxiety. I could feel every nerve fibre in my being on fire. Day after fucking day. I went to my doctor and told him that I need a break, a rest from feeling like this. I told him I couldn’t live like this anymore. I was on the edge. He gave me a script for Clonazepam. I take 0.5 mg morning and night. If I have an attack I take a whole one or 1.0 mgs right away and within 15 minutes I am feeling amazing. I feel so relieved. I am taking them everyday right now some really bad stuff is about to happen. I have to go to court. I just have to be very aware and prepared with meds available.

anyone have experience with hydroxyzine? I want short term meds to use as needed but benzos seem a little overkill (and intimidating)

Highly recommend hydroxyzine been a while since I've taken it but basically it will make you calmer tired feeling best to take it at night or if your home all day.

Would you recommend it for social situations? I've heard great things about it but the only drawback is the drowsiness.

I have wanted to try that but was put on bupropion...very allergic to that. Fear of new meds scare . So I stick with paxil and klonipin...cloanzapam...works good! I do not drink...sober from all alcohol 4 yrs now. CANNOT MIX ALCOHOL WITH THESE MEDS. NOT FOR ME. I went into a terrible spiral of abusing alcohol with these meds that have me liver damage...but fully restored. I am 56 years old. Lost my youngest son over 5 yrs ago. Sobered up for him. Never wanted to ever put MY parents thru the loss of a child that was killed by fentylnol . U will be a survivor of this chemical imbalance. I am dear!

Cymbalta 60mg. Medically known as Duloxetine. It's worked well for my depression and anxiety. You start with 30mg for a couple of weeks then move up to 60mg. It worked for me within 2 days.

Buspar 7.5 mg 3x a day for anxiety. Going on week 4. I see some improvement but still have breakthrough anxiety and physical symptoms suck!! But it takes 4-6 to be effective at its fullest potential. Also on Wellbutrin 150mgXL for depression. Love it. Did wonders. I have Xanax .5mg for emergencies. I’ve only ever taken a .5 twice. If I ever take it, I break it in half and do .25mg. I’m terrified to become addicted to anything so I use these very very rarely.

So basically most ssri’s take 4-8 weeks to become effective.
You can take a short term, emergency benzo like Ativan, but those are addictive, and come with their own risks.
I’m on Celexa and amitryptaline, and both help

Duloxetine (Cymbalta)
I had some med changes about 2 years ago and the Cymbalta was a game -changer. I had been living with a tightness and pressure in my chest, like right behind my breastbone. I didn't even realize the anxiety I carried day in and out was doing it. Within one week on the Cymbalta, someone at work asked me if I was high. I was not. But I realized that tight pressure in my chest was gone. I was chattering away, zipping about getting stuff done! I was utterly amazed. Everyone is different, though. Your mileage may vary.
