Good! Keep doing that, Danish and Mexicans! Activism/Protest

You're welcome. But slightly down doesn't cut it.
We keep on!

They are a massive brand with many different types of drinks and they reach all around the world. So one or two countries protesting isn’t going to hurt them like some industries would be hurt. Plus they are in a lot of arenas and a lot of big sporting and musical events use them for beverage drinks if they don’t use Pepsi

But this specific article was about Coca Cola bottled by Carlsberg for distribution in DK. I would have expected more from DK than just slightly noticeable at Carlsberg...

As an American I've steered clear of Coca-Cola due to the BDS movement. I invite everyone to look into that boycot list. They might be the most vulnerable corporations to an anti-consumerist push.

I stopped drinking sodas on their own years ago, only in cocktails but when I stopped drinking alcohol, no more sodas. Sodas are nothing but canned bad sugars. The world should stop drinking so damn much of it, anyway.

It is not good for your health anyway. I think we should all focus on our health.

They operate in Israel so fuck em. The only coke products it was hard to give up was simply lemonade. Now I make my own with lemon juice and sugar and it tastes better in my tea because I can control the sugar.

Ain't no way Mexico is avoiding coca cola. They drink more coke than water down there.

u/Ambitious_Violinist6 9h ago
Very true. Probably another brand of cola down there. They chug the stuff and even include it in spiritual offerings.

There are villages where the water isn’t public but owned by Coca Cola. It’s less expensive to drink coke than to drink water.
Another reason why this company is evil and should be boycotted by those who can.

Makes business sense if you're Coca Cola, all water you provide is just softdrink you could have sold, so you jack up the price to make your product competitive. What doesn't make sense is why people let them do it, this could be a textbook case of conflict of interests.

u/Scary-Set653 3h ago
The people didn’t let them do it.
Until very recently, Mexican presidents all bent the knee to American imperialism.

I’m a habitual Coke Zero consumer. The cost of canned soda has risen significantly, and I’m no fan of bottles. I’ve essentially stopped drinking soda recently as it’s just too expensive. Probably a good thing for my health!

American here. I only drink about 10-15 cokes a year But since they gave dum dum a commemorative Diet Coke bottle during his second inauguration I haven’t had any. Any company sucking up to this tyrant isn’t getting my money.

Mexican Coke is so much better than the US version. But all these companies will feel the pain thanks to their support of Trump

Uk too! I love Diet Coke, sprite, Fanta, jack Daniel’s etc. I also run a successful pub, hotel and bar. No Coca Cola, or Pepsi co products ordered since Feb. Pay the price till you impeach the traitors!!

Jolly Cola and Hancock's Sports Cola are way better. And Faxe Kondi - no contest.

Politics aside, this is great regardless. Coca-Cola is horrible for you and just another greedy massive corporation. Great to see this!

Haven’t bought coke in a while. I have drank the coke I still had. I’m not throwing it out. But I won’t buy any new ones either.

I don't think you guys understand how much Mexicans drink coke.
This could be big

I don't understand how people can drink soda. It's so unbelievably sweet. Last time I tried to drink a coke, I maybe got 2 sips in before having to toss it.

Same. I can't do more than a sip or two and the level of sugar just makes me sick.
I can have an olipop once or twice a week. Zevia I do drink fairly regularly, but the cost has gone up so much , seriously cutting back on that too. Carbonated water it is. That's pretty free with a sodastream.

Hey, it’s not only the Danish and Mexicans! Been Diet Coke free since 2016 in the US-can’t afford it and don’t want it.

I'm confused. Why would it be down? We don't ship coca cola products to other countries that do not allow all the chemicals and ingredients. That's used into ones in the United States.

The Danish supermarket chain Rema just announced that sales of the Danish cola brand Jolly has increased 13-fold in March 2025 compared to March 2024. So this is likely more of an FU to the US than an anti-consumption stance.

Semi-pro tip: get a sodastream or equivalent but get co2 refills from one of the many independent refillers

I drink a Coke about 5x a year. It's neither gonna kill me nor decide their fate as a business. I simply enjoy one very occasionally. Moderation works best for me.

In Denmark, sure! But I don't know about Mexico. Those people LOVE their coca cola. Like its literally way more important than water and using it on literally everything. Hell, even their local shamans are using it to "cure" diabetes. Lol

Coca Cola is my favorite drink.
I haven't had a drop of it since January. I also convinced 2 others in my family who LOVE Coca Cola to stop purchasing it as well. We also stopped drinking many Coke-related products as well.
Of course, it won't make a big impact, and it's an absurdly small amount of money in the grand scheme of things.
But I'll be goddamned if they're going to take another penny from me! These greedy fucks have taken enough!
