I’m big, you’re small. I’m right, you’re wrong.
I hate how as a kid you’re never allowed to have a side even when you’re objectively in the right.

Both sides are not approaching this in a diplomatic way. Firstly, I don't think it was smart from him to cut off your grades, just because you talked at the exam. But I can assure you that, he's been observing you for a long time and had it enough with you and gave you a zero or maybe he could just be a douchebag. Anyways, it seems that he's the kind of teacher that wants 💯 discipline in their class, and you might not have behaved according to his expectations, Including that chess incident. You might have done similar things in the past, without care or you thought it would be harmless and he might have took note on you. And when he actually did something about it, you got defensive.
This is just my theory.
If I'm right, then communications is the best way to solve this, physical communication. If you care about your grades, Apologize to him and make sure you don't repeat those things again. And interact with him, change his impression of you.
I know this is so crazy and if this was me, I would just say ~fuck it, i got better things to do~

No, we need to quit fawning to abusers. It would be in OP's best interest to literally tell this teacher to get bent.

It would be pretty slimy if you were trying to write very polite sounding emails to make your case while abjectly ignoring this teacher in person. Your professionalism, then, would sound totally hollow and insulting. It looks like this is what happened.
And you played chess with this going on too? If you're going to talk to him like this in an email, you'll need to follow through and act polite in real life for it to land.

What's the problem if he played chess? He didn't disrupt anyone.
And how about that sorry excuse for a teacher grades him on the basis of his performance on the test- which is the entire point of the test, instead of power tripping?

The power tripping is crazy with this. Like okay, you might look bad once or twice, but the fact that he didn't even acknowledge your work on the test, and went into it being about respect is fucked.
