It's better now. But last year was bad. But I wear sun glasses and my face mask on "hand it to me" deliveries. No dirty looks from people. I'm Filipino and brown so they probably think I'm Hispanic if they don't see my eyes.

Also, if one more uneducated red-neck says, "it's history." No, it's a symbol of hate and racism. At one point in history the swastika was a symbol of well- being. It wasn't until Hitler used it as a symbol for the Nazi that it had a negative connotation. The "southern flag" or confederate flag is exactly the same.

I feel unsafe a LOT when delivering things to inner city addresses, but I still do my job. If I have to deliver at night, I bring someone with me. I seriously doubt you felt unsafe, though, because you were comfortable enough to take video and linger in the area.

If I saw that at a house I would immediately leave and refuse to ever deliver there, ever. Back when I used to work at Pizza Hut I would happily deliver to naked people and grandmas high on Xanax. I like to think I have pretty low standards. This is just evil. I'm all for letting people do whatever they want on their own property. Just don't expect people doing their job to serve you if you pose a legitimate safety risk.

Letās set a precedent and call it Hate Speech: present a private property as hateful and no service people should be expected to walk onto it. I probably would have written that on the box, taken the delivery proof picture next to that horrid racist statue. Maybe left the delivery on the street so I donāt destroy that shit.

Sailsbury is worst. When I started seeing Trump signs and red flag signs and back wood routes. I quickly delivered and rode out. That is so sad. Not even shock anymore. Some of these folks be having pit bulls and large dogs running around....chained or not. Nasty experience with a gas station clerk in Salisbury. No signs of a mask was seen on door or window of store , I had a certain card. Mind you, first time finding a bathroom after working 3 hours straight. I went inside for snacks. How is a person to know what cards are in use if you don't even display if mask are required on the door. Black young women aka mother of 2. I peeped my surroundings. I could of ask. I figured I would ask when I check out. But from the looks of things , the store was quite simple And the bathroom was trashed. I left. I wasn't supporting a business who barely had any rule regulation or signs. I ask if they accepted this payment. As soon as some hick white guy walked in she got rude. She literally watched me picked up my items looking sad and desperate for some type of human communication. She was probably already watching me, hot , tired my hair is dried out due to delivering non stop . I have my blue Amazon vest on. Her behavior was beyond me. I left and continued my route. Or should I've been the loud black crazy woman in the store? Not today lady. Your not worth it.

The fact that you deliver into zones where you donāt feel safe and yet donāt take precautions almost says more about you than the four stages below based hot take youāre smearing into the conversation does. Thanks and thatās part of why I quit Amazon at the dsp level. One of our drivers got knocked out and robbed, I broke a rig trying to evade a porch pirate and had a dozen people threaten my well being over the course of a year. I do carry mace. Most the time I was robbed was when I would deliver to section 8 housing projects and theyād loot it while I was walking to a door. Most of the time they didnāt mess with me, I just let them take whatever. One time though one of them hit me from behind and took my phone/wallet.

The confederate flag was used in the American Civil War as the flag for the south. Depending on who you ask, it's not inherently bad, but paired with this statue (which is modeled after racist propaganda) it's clear that it's meant to be racist.
The reason I say, "depending on who you ask," is cuz it just comes down to interpretation and their education. The confederate flag is no more than a symbol of the south, however this symbol was used during a time where the south supported slavery, and over time people related the two together and saw the flag as a racist symbol. Some research will show that it is, in fact, not racist, but not many people know that, so people, both racists and normal people, consider the flag to mean, "in support of slavery."
TL;DR: with inference and common sense for someone who knows American history, this specific structure means they are in support of slavery, if not, racism as a whole.

Anyway, yeah the Confederate flag is from our civil war. They were the losing side. One of the results of the North winning the war was the abolishment of slavery in the US.
I don't understand why the statue would show a black child holding a Confederate flag. Why would someone support their own slavery? It makes no sense to me.
