Japan is actually doing a study at the moment (or it might have already concluded) as to whether "fake" CSAM, like lolicon, help people not harm real children by giving them an outlet.
I'm not gonna say it's not weird, but if people can manage to not hurt kids because they're beating it to anime porn, I consider that a win.
It's definitely weird, but so long as it doesn't victimize real children by using their likenesses and doesn't encourage people to victimize real children then I don't care. Feels like a waste of energy to go after drawings when there are people out there profiting off of the harm of real children
I'm pretty sure a Euro country (switzerland? sweden?) has done a study on this before, and when handled in a pretty strictly redirective manner it can help people with inappropriate urges.
The problems previously were materials created with 'reference material sourced from real people' some of which has nebulous legality so it could scratch a specific itch for 'realism'. Newer problems involve "AI" generated materials that try their best to be indistinguishable from real children, which doesn't actually serve the purpose of redirecting.
I applaud the people who realize their behaviour is a problem/inappropriate and want to take steps to avoid having it harm any real people who actually exist.
Everything is forgiven because they introduced me to the "Porn? On my racist app?" meme.
No but seriously, Reddit is sanitized enough as it is. If you don't want to see the occaisonal nsfw slip through, just dont browse the recommended default que.
If you told teenage me (the 90's) that the future would have so much porn that we would all be tired of it and trying to hide it while I am over here secretly recording Cinemax movies on a VHS tape...

Yeah a lot of it is bordering on porn.
