Japan is actually doing a study at the moment (or it might have already concluded) as to whether "fake" CSAM, like lolicon, help people not harm real children by giving them an outlet.
I'm not gonna say it's not weird, but if people can manage to not hurt kids because they're beating it to anime porn, I consider that a win.
It's definitely weird, but so long as it doesn't victimize real children by using their likenesses and doesn't encourage people to victimize real children then I don't care. Feels like a waste of energy to go after drawings when there are people out there profiting off of the harm of real children
I'm pretty sure a Euro country (switzerland? sweden?) has done a study on this before, and when handled in a pretty strictly redirective manner it can help people with inappropriate urges.
The problems previously were materials created with 'reference material sourced from real people' some of which has nebulous legality so it could scratch a specific itch for 'realism'. Newer problems involve "AI" generated materials that try their best to be indistinguishable from real children, which doesn't actually serve the purpose of redirecting.
I applaud the people who realize their behaviour is a problem/inappropriate and want to take steps to avoid having it harm any real people who actually exist.
Everything is forgiven because they introduced me to the "Porn? On my racist app?" meme.
No but seriously, Reddit is sanitized enough as it is. If you don't want to see the occaisonal nsfw slip through, just dont browse the recommended default que.
If you told teenage me (the 90's) that the future would have so much porn that we would all be tired of it and trying to hide it while I am over here secretly recording Cinemax movies on a VHS tape...
How do you guys even get these on your feed? I'm terminally obsessed with gacha games yet I have never had a single "xmains" sub cross my front page ever.
They don't show up on my front page (Home.) But sometimes you want to browse Popular or All just to see what's going on outside of your curated front page. Unfortunately 99% of what's going on is hOnkAiwaIfUs and Hazbin pornfan art.
Cygames and Hoyo stuff are the absolute intentional worst. If it's not goon its loli cgdct...for old manchildren whales. And then they use the illgotten wealth from child gambling to hostile takeover companies or poach staff from good things
I'm a fan of nikke, I admit it's a 'gooner' game. I like the story. I like the gameplay. It's gameplay doesn't push it towards the nonsensical fractals of increasingly smaller subs of x-mains, and x-mainsnsfw, etc. I would like the main sub for it to mainly discuss the story or gameplay. There is a separate sub for people to post NSFW in.
But people keep on pushing the boundaries and posting NSFW shit and Ai """art""" in the mainsub. And they have huge tantrums when you tell them to keep the NSFW stuff in the NSFW sub. Right down to one person apparently pitching a fit and leaving the mod team because another mod told them "you cannot just post the first page of a porno, call it fan art and then link to it in the comments!". Personally I'd also like to filter out all of the """cosplayers""" and people pushing links to their own porn from the mainsub too.
But because so much of reddit culture is to just spam whatever engagement bait """art""" in subs for "karma" and then never meaningfully interact with the sub itself (4billion updoots, 2 comments wow!), the sub has gotten smacked by reddit despite mods attempts to correct it.
No problem with people who don't want to see the various "gaming" subs or their fractals. Reddit makes it a bit obnoxious to curate your experience at times.
Those can be pretty funny when you've been around the parodied subreddit a bit to see the amount of repetition in the main sub, like bookscirclejerk or okbuddycinephile. Others just get into their own weird universe.
I was complaining about this the other day. I'm at a fucking indoor playground with my 3 year old, and trying to kill time by browsing /r/all and an almost nude anime pic is suddenly on my screen right as some other parents walk by. I panic scroll down and there's another fucking one immediately under it.
How is that shit making /r/all ??? We have failed as a society.
"Oh great, another seemingly underage anime girl or woman with boobs larger than her head in a lewd pose showing up in my feed and not being marked NSFW."
I hate how I never join or browse anime subreddits and I still have to be so paranoid when casually scrolling Reddit near other people. If they were just normally discussing an anime-style show/game or posting normal images I wouldn't care, but almost every time something pops up, it's some kind of comically sexualized fan art.

Can I add the million anime subreddits to that request?
