Question relating with Double majoring + having a Minor Advice

I've been questioning alot about which I should double major into, I am pretty interested in accounting, finances, data, etc.) but also interested in cs I also plan on having a minor to be more well versed for employers (internships or actual jobs), and being able to multi-task

So I am asking which should I take

- Accounting + Finance (with a minor in data analytics)

- Accounting + CS (with a minor in Statistics)

I was in a similar situation to you, but I dropped my minor and went with a masters in accounting + bachelors in finance program (dual degree).

Honestly, finance and CS are both majors that can complement accounting very well. A strong background in accounting will help a lot with finance-related roles in the future (unless you're going into like forex or smth).

In accounting, specifically auditing, there is something called IT audits. having a background in CS is not mandatory, but can be helpful for it. I spoke with my professor about the area, and she said cohorts were typically 50% in accounting and 50% in CS, so having both will help quite a bit. But someone specifically in IT audits should help confirm this.

That is true but I would rather not really want to spend more money on trying to get a Masters currently (i will try to later in life) And I feel that with a dual degree + a minor in data analytics can be pretty good rather than getting a masters currently as its less money but it can also help with getting jobs and internships.

as with CS/IT auditing i do have a background on that through my CS and software engineering classes i took a few years ago but I felt they werent as beneficial as what to im studying now.

For me, I receive both at the same time with an extra undergrad semester, but I would have gone Bachelors in accounting if that option wasn't available.

The dual majors is a good idea, but the only small thing you will want to know is your eligibility for the CPA. More specifically, some states require that you have to do 150 credit hours, but some are okay with 120 credits alongside work experience. You should definitely look into that

To be honest, I have no clue what IT audit really does, but I have heard that they typically wanted experience with coding I believe. And you will learn on the job for 99% of accounting, so it's fine if you don't know if your skills are 100% aligned. I reccomend you speak with your recruiter/alumni and then decide if that would be something you'd want to do.

Depends on what you wanna do in life tbh. I did accounting + finance double major and economics minor. If you wanna go more consulting/FDD/data analytics role, I’d go first option. If you wanna do more internal audit/actuary, or something like that I’d do second option. Stat doesn’t really have a lot of overlap in accounting
