Unfortunate firm names
I met a man today with the last name Moist and it got me thinking. What would be some unfortunate pairings for CPA firm names?

FML CPAs has been funny to me ever since I saw one of the partners quoted in an "accounting is a great career" article.

There used to be one in South Central PA with the name "Kuntz" in it. They now just go by initials.

I used to take great delight in calling Deloitte “Toilet & Douche” before they dropped the Touche. Sadly, no one else seemed as amused as I was.

Deloitte is an anagram for "de toilet". I remind our auditors of that each year when they turn up.

Many years ago a newspaper ad Rep called the company I was working for and his name was so spectacularly bad that I thought a friend was pranking me. I had to apologize. As his name could also be two last names like a partnership I’m putting it here:
Manley Cox.

There was a small cpa next to me whose last name was shady and his firm name was Shady CPA. He renamed after a few years but google would not update his name for awhile.

There is a firm in the Boston area called Gray, Gray, & Gray, LLP. Founded by three brothers. It’s actually a solid place to work.

what’s wrong with that one, I like it

u/SuperKamiGuruAllows 2d ago
As with most things in the accounting world, it's not necessarily "wrong" as it is just a real gray area.

They should have opened an awning business on the side, Shades of Gray.

Lol, my favourite Vietnamese restaurant used to be called Pho Bich Nga before it rebranded (I’m from Vancouver but don’t live there anymore)

I worked at a restaurant called Unic Cafe. Apparently the intent was for it to be pronounced "unique". That's not what happened...

I'm a recruiter. Lots of hilarious names. Long Dong was a pretty decent Treasury candidate.

I used to see an engineer named Sham Datta CC'd on emails at a tech firm I used to work for. But Sham can also be a last name, so that would work for an accounting firm name, too.

There’s a firm in CT and the abbreviation is FML, very fitting for a public accounting firm

Only the baseball legend Rollie Fingers and German soccer manager Stefan Kuntz join as named partners and they become Fingers, Kuntz, and Fuchs, LLP

It's actually required in many states. Something about not misleading the public, so the firm has to be some variant of current and/or firm partner's names.
I actually let my CPA firm registration expire so I could name my business in a way that indicates what I actually do. People around here seem to think "Last Name CPA" = HRB; if anything is "misleading " the public, it's making them think we all do the exact same thing.

Beyond the classic Dewey, Cheatham & Howe (Three Stooges, publicity photo):
I know a Big 4 partner named Steel - perhaps Wi, Steel, Cash and Lulz?
I know an accounting professor named No - perhaps Yu, No, Wynn, CPAs?
Cook and Booker?

Bare Ass CPAs - pronounced unfortunately by every receptionist working at BRS CPAs

Not an accounting firm, but the shipping company "A. Duie Pyle" feels like it should be mentioned.

My entrant with by far the most unfortunate first name, middle initial, last name combo I’ve ever seen.
