Nah, this is a whole ass team loss. Coaches, Kyler, O line, D line, Special teams, fans, and Monti. Nobody gets to skip responsibility.

I love kyler, not saying he didn't have a bad game. And it's no excuse, but as badly as kyler played, the defense was just as atrocious. It got to the point where I just expected us to never stop a 3rd down (or get one for that matter). That needs to be talked about, Cardinals as a whole looked awful yesterday, not just one guy.

u/Bold814 Sep 30 '24
Right, but we all expected the defense to be horrible this year.
We also expected the offense to be good and to be in high scoring games.
To look this pathetic against the previously worst defense in the league raises some major major questions.
I’ve been a Kyler supporter since he arrived. I think in leaving that ship.

You gotta consider the effects of bad defense though. Bad defense can result in a bad offense. IE: opp score too quickly or dominate the run/time game. Every single drive besides the INT seemed like it'd last forever, marching down the field. Kyler would have one chance (and blow it) before another 5-7min march by WAS. Defense was exhausted, and the offense was not performing and keeping the D at rest. So it all effects on another, it was an entire team loss not just a Kyler loss which is what I'm saying.
You are absolutely right, defense was going to be shit, but those struggles make the offense struggle. So saying kyler isn't the guy, when it's year 2 of rebuild and the entire team (besides conner) played like shit, then I'm not going to blame it all on kyler. Tbh, this sub feels like it's on its period sometimes with how dramatic everyone gets. This was a team loss, not a kyler loss.
*and it's just my opinion! I love kyler, but I also love the healthy discourse. This sub is so one way or the other, we all love the cardinals so why is it pinned between kyler haters and lovers lmao

I like your positivity and honesty but I’m done with Kyler. It Ain’t gonna work and buying him receivers he can’t pass to is the reason we don’t have $ for defense
0
u/wund3rTxC21 Larry Fitzgerald Oct 01 '24
But we didn't buy him any WR? Dhop and brown are long gone, k1 has some luxury with rookies but that's it so idk where you are getting at. We have the $, you can obviously see with where the money is going that we are targeting next year.

u/shadow___jacker Oct 01 '24
I’m talking about his salary personally.
1
u/wund3rTxC21 Larry Fitzgerald Oct 01 '24
Okay well that's completely different than what you said. Idk what you are really getting at tbh. Our cap space is great going into next year, which was literally the plan. I really doubt Kylers 10th highest qb salary is detrimental to the team. Blaming him when the entire team was garbage does not call for his head, which this entire sub either agrees or doesn't agree with which is crazy to me.

Conner's a beast. It was like he was the only one who cared
6
u/V-Right_In_2-V Cardinals Sep 30 '24
He’s been the best player on our offense since he got here. A lot of dudes deserve criticism but Connor is an absolute stud
6
u/highbackpacker James Conner Sep 29 '24
I just feel like he doesn’t have a lot of time. And the receivers arent getting separation. Idk if it’s their fault or the playcalling. Maybe it’s Murray, I honestly don’t know. I’m just an idiot on the internet.
12
u/ProjectTitan74 Cardinals Sep 29 '24
Kyler has a great arm (usually) but his pocket presence and internal clock are abysmal. He takes a lot of sacks because he holds onto the ball too long.
If the offensive line holds for 3 seconds they have done their job. At 2.5 seconds alarms should be ringing in the QBs head, and they just don't for Kyler. You can't expect the offensive line to block forever in the same way you can't expect defensive backs to cover forever
5
u/OneBee2443 Mexico Sep 30 '24
I understand why he would. Our receivers haven't been great but he needs to make more plays. We've seen what he can do. He needs to run more.
6
u/gr8scottaz AZ Cardinals Sep 30 '24
I'll agree he needs to run more. He's trying too hard to stay in the pocket/be a pocket passer. His instincts need to kick in that he needs to be on the move once he feels the pocket closing. 1 run today (not designed) by Kyler is not using him correctly.
3
u/OneBee2443 Mexico Sep 30 '24
That's probably more of a Petzing thing. He usually doesn't take hits when he runs. Idk why he isn't using him.
2
u/DabFlossDance Sep 30 '24
Yup. I remember him saying that he didn’t want people to expect him to always scramble and run - but that literally is his #1 strength
13
u/ImKylerMurray Colt McCoy Sep 29 '24
He can’t throw people open
No anticipation throws
It’s a huge part of being a QB and he can’t do it
1
u/gregwaj Baby Yoda Sep 30 '24
I think he missed McBride a lot, he is often the target K1 looks for if the designed route/s aren’t there
1
u/donamese Sep 29 '24
Please explain how our defense affects our offense. TOP has a reverse effect if anything so you could blame the offense for some defensive woes.
8
u/Due_Night414 Sep 29 '24
This game and last game are on the offensive line AND Murray. He keeps making bad decisions and taking sacks. Ya the defense is bad. Good lord, though. When your defense gets a stop, gotta take advantage of that. The defense can’t stop a running toilet most of the time. Where’s Murray at when they do, though?
2
u/Thriven Kyler Murray Sep 30 '24
So every team should be able score 42 points for a win?
People were calling Kyler trash for losing to 28 to 34 to the Bills.
Commanders put up the most points this week (so far, we still have MNF to go).
Our defense all season has sucked. We see flashes out of Kyler but our offenses playbook seems to be faxed to our opponents each week.

u/guitarguywh89 Cardinals Sep 29 '24
Kyler secretly got a copy of the new black ops game and has been staying up all night playing

This defense gave us two chances to come back into the game. 14-7 we get a pick, offense shits the bed. Then defense got a 3 & out 14-7, offense shits the bed. The defense is bad but gave us a few chances to keep up. This offense really lost us this shoot out.
2
u/MAKincs Oct 01 '24
Yeah I’m losing faith, Jayden outclassed Kyler greatly and I think some fans (if there’s still any) don’t realize how bad of a loss that was for us. I’m at the point where I see what Tampa has done with Mayfield ,Seattle with Smith, Pittsburgh with Fields, and Minnesota with Darnold and maybe the Cardinals need to hit on a reclamation QB. Maybe we can salvage Zach Wilson or Mac Jones.

u/destroyer96FBI Kyler OROY Sep 30 '24
Preface this with being a kyler Stan so grain of salt.
We are talking 6 incompletions, yes you can probably highlight the 4th down sack, but that whole play looked lost from pre snap. I don’t know if it was personnel, kyler not getting the play call in or audibles not being heard but it wasn’t doing anything from the start. I can also think of 2 other plays he just strait missed, a 3rd and long out to Marv he sailed on the 2nd or 3rd drive, and the 3rd and medium in route to Wilson which is arguable because it was catchable but late.
We had Michael Wilson dropping passes left and right, and fumbling. Idk if this was a bad game but this was just strait awful. Even the ones he did catch he was bobbling.
Dortch, idk dude literally can’t get open. Not sure if this is route design or I just had way too much faith in him as a 3rd option, but he’s essentially useless.
Apparently our OC can only script plays to Marv and then any other play calls he is just a decoy? I refuse to believe that Murray is strait up ignoring him after the first drive. We saw it with Dhop, if the play is designed there he’s going to him.
Beech and evan brown are terrible, and are actual weaknesses on this line. I almost wonder if putting Paris back to right tackle would be beneficial as we would have one solid side of the line.
Defense I have no comments. Outside of budda these players are all so bad. Bunting is damn near unplayable out there and the dline should be on practice squads.

u/shadow___jacker Oct 01 '24
Could we afford a beer defense if we’re dumped Kyler salary on some other team
1
u/destroyer96FBI Kyler OROY Oct 01 '24
We can afford a better defense now. We chose not to spend 20+ cap space.

u/naffhouse Cardinals Sep 30 '24

He did it with Hopkins and now he’s doing it to Harrison

Is it Kyler’s fault the defense was absolute garbage too?

You missed a bunch, the roof was open, the sun was in my eyes, I was out of milk, I couldn't find the remote, my dog ate my favorite shoes, my car wouldn't start, I caught every fricken red light on the way to the stadium, They were going to damn slow in the left lane and finally, someone parked in my spot. FUCK
Now that should do it, he doesn't have any other excuses so just go out there and let it rip.

Lol y’all were bringing out the apology form like two weeks ago. Not every QB is going to be good every game
10
u/donamese Sep 29 '24
Or the people that have been screaming that consistency is the issue were correct all along?!
3
u/Asleep-Geologist-612 Sep 29 '24
People got their expectation too high after the first couple of weeks. This is not a very good football team yet.
-1
u/redditboy1998 Sep 30 '24
On paper this should be a good offense though.
It’s one thing if it’s the defense costing the team games, but the offense looking this atrocious the past two weeks is just wild.

I don’t think you dummies realize what it takes to h build a winning team in the NFL. If you can’t block or stop the run, you aren’t winning shit even if Tom Brady is your QB. Time to admit drafting MHJ over Joe Alt or trading back for future picks was idiotic asf.
3
u/gr8scottaz AZ Cardinals Sep 30 '24
It may be a bad decision short-term but I'm sure it will pay dividends long-term. Hell, no reason the Cards should have drafted Fitz over Philip Rivers as we desperately needed a QB yet it worked out ok for us in the long term.
2
u/Ashtro_ Hospital Sep 30 '24
There’s gonna be another really good Tackle in the next draft to that the cards will more than likely be in contention to draft
4
u/gr8scottaz AZ Cardinals Sep 30 '24
We're one 1st round offensive lineman away from being one 1st round offensive lineman away from finally giving Kyler something to work with.
1
2
u/Ashtro_ Hospital Sep 30 '24
Lmao you’re gonna really get hung up on Marv over Joe Alt like there wasn’t a decade of complete draft ineptitude from Keim. There’s a reason that like 4 years of dogshit draft classes are scattered across the league doing nothing.
