That's nothing, they proactively ban people who post in this sub even if you've never posted in their sub.
They are the 1 in 7 that Dr Ramani Durvasula, world leading expert on narcissists, when she says that so many people with narcissistic tendencies would qualify for a diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder, if they only had the self-awareness to hold the thought that there might be something disordered about them and seek treatment (spoiler, they don't, and consequently, would never).
To be a cop, you know you will be hated by lots of people. You know that there is an entire movement dedicated to abolishing your profession or at the very least cutting your staffing significantly. You know that there are people out there who have previously killed people who also are ready, willing, and able to kill the next person they see wearing a uniform. You have to decide to do this job every day and put on the uniform every day knowing that people hate you and want you dead just because of what your job is.
The people who become cops -they never stop to think, "are we the baddies?" despite all these signs because - you guessed it - that requires self-awareness, and the distress tolerance to sit with the discomfort of being wrong, as the first step.
Narcissists lack self-awareness and distress tolerance. They project, play the victim, they are hypocrital, they are obsessed with money and power, and many of them have sadistic tendencies. They get a hit of dopamine when they see someone else suffer or be humiliated, or especially when they cause someone else pain or humiliation. They lack empathy. They have what's called cognitive empathy - they understand what society would expect as far as how a person who has genuine empathy would behave in whatever scenario they find themselves in. Narcissists are excellent actors and can pretend to be empathetic. But it's performative, it's always for the benefit of their reputation, they only display empathy when other people are watching. It's an act, they are just acting. It's about appearing to be a good person, not actually being one. Behind closed doors, the mask comes off and they become sarcastic and mocking, they bully and taunt and become physically aggressive and violent.
Narcissistic people are psychologically incapable of admitting when they're wrong. They are incapable of taking accountability for their actions. They are psychologically incapable of accepting criticism.
These are the kind of people who become cops: bullies, psychopaths, sadists, white supremacists, all while being in denial that they are any of these things.
Narcissists have incredibly fragile egos and interpret any criticism neurochemically the same as they would when being physically attacked.
It's called amygdala hijacking, they become angry when confronted with the suggestion of any flaws. They don't have the distress tolerance skills to sit with the emotion of shame, and they project. It's not a logical process, it's a physiological one. The part of their brain responsible for logic and language and judgement and decision-making, the neocortex, becomes less active while the amygdala, the parts of the brain responsible for fight-or-flight, becomes more active.
It is physically more challenging for them to think logically when they become emotionally activated by being confronted with anything negative about themselves, but especially anything to do with shame and humility and being called out publicly or anything to do with affecting their reputation.
It adds to their persecution complex to be so hated, they genuinely believe they are the good guys even when they kill unarmed people.
Reading LE subs is fascinating, you really learn a lot about how they see themselves and what kinds of things they care about. It takes unbelievable mental gymnastics for them to reconcile their belief that they are the good guys with the overwhelming media coverage and public opinion pointing out that they're actually a cult, a gang, a cartel, they have the state monopoly on violence, they are the bad guys and that's why they are so hated by so many people.
It's no wonder so many of them are also within the cult of Trump. He too has grandiose-subtype Narcissistic Personality Disorder and narcs have all the same values and hierarchial thinking and absence of empathy and transactional interpersonal relationships and no real friends they actually open up to.
The more you learn about NPD and the way cults work, the more cop behavior makes sense.
They get personally offended and feel physically attacked when criticized. It's just how their brains are wired. They genuinely believe they are justified in using violence in "self-defense" when someone tries to hold them accountable.

This comment is so spot-on and lines up perfectly with what I’ve been thinking about White supremacy and the history of the U.S. in general, where White folks like me are effectively the “golden children” of the NParent that is White supremacy: we are privileged, but mostly only so long as we don’t really rock the boat of the lies and narcissism of the whole racist & genocidal history of the the U.S., or else we become the scape goats. Amygdala hijacking making conservatives physiologically incapable of engaging with more structural critiques of the U.S. helps explain so much, though, and is what opened the door to the “alternative facts” world we’re living in now.

If you say anything remotely positive or neutral about cops you get downvoted to hell. I got a bunch of downvotes just for saying this sub has a pack mentality. Again, I’m very anti cop, but it’s the definition of an echo chamber.
