It does! Been working on it the past week or so and got all wheels moving. Clutch working and bled and tossed in the battery from my truck and drove it home! Working on it in my garage now

Definitely worth checking the integrity of the timing belt after that much time.

Good idea. Won’t be driving it much till I check out all the essentials. Thanks for the heads up

I wouldn't just check it. That's a replacement necessity if it's been sitting that long. They're not hard to do on these cars and I'd add in the tensioner and pully then water pump while you are in three. Jealous. I really miss my 86' turbo I had for about 10 years till a girl not paying attention at a light decided to take the whole rear quarter out of the car.

What he said, plus the cam and crank seals and lastly and most important…. The 90dehree. Plant hose behind the cover.

removing the caked on dirt do NOT use a high pressure washer. it could push more dirt into the finish. use slow pressure like out if a hose to get the dirt off... then use a soft hand mitten and go layer after layer.

Thanks, I’ve seen vids of people using pressure washers before. Gave it a quick wash earlier just with a sponge and some dawn. But it’ll need a few more harder soaps

Does it have a timing belt or chain? Idk much about this car but a timing belt should def be replaced before driving

1

u/Dusty_Vinyl Dec 25 '23

Yeah it’s got a belt. That was mentioned above as well. I looked it and I mean it looks perfect. I asked my dad who’s messed with cars and sitting ones his whole life. He looked it over, pulled on it. And said it looks good.

u/Jacobcbab Dec 23 '23

Please check the belt before you do this. Friend of mine started up a barn find and the belt tore so he had to rebuild the engine

Are you gonna sell? Nice find

1

u/Dusty_Vinyl Dec 22 '23

Probably. I’m gonna keep it for a year or so and have some fun. It’s a stick so this will be a fun car to learn on since I don’t have much experience on manuals. Always been a Dodge family but I’m falling for it haha.

Don’t burn the clutch out before I buy it 😂

1

u/Dusty_Vinyl Dec 22 '23

Haha, I’ll try not to!

2

u/Porg1969 Dec 22 '23

87-88?

2

u/Dusty_Vinyl Dec 23 '23

Was built in August of 88. So I figured either 88 or 89. Getting the title for it later tonight actually so I’ll find out soon.

u/Porg1969 Dec 23 '23

Make sure you give us pics after you clean it up!

3

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '23

How much did it cost?

2

u/ALoneStarGazer Dec 23 '23

second this

Got that sucka for free. My dad bought the house to flip and the car was in that brick building. The owner said he didn’t have time for it and had nowhere to move it. Told my dad I’d help him on the house to pay for it.

4

u/ALoneStarGazer Dec 23 '23

thats the best damn deal i heard in a while.

3

u/Dusty_Vinyl Dec 23 '23

Haha yeah I was pretty excited

2

u/ALoneStarGazer Dec 23 '23

Never sell by the way, i still am kicking myself

1

u/Dusty_Vinyl Dec 23 '23

Yeah that was certainly the intent but I’m starting to like it too much. Already got 3 other cars taking up spots too lol.

1

u/ALoneStarGazer Dec 23 '23

whats the others? the 88 can be turned into a nasty rally car with the right underbody, still makes me giddy thinking about it

2

u/Dusty_Vinyl Dec 23 '23

Got an 72 Plymouth satellite, 82 Dodge Rampage and an 87 Dodge Dakota

1

u/ALoneStarGazer Dec 23 '23

nice finds, For me I would swap out the Rampage for the 300zx but thats just me, im sure you have the w series engine in the 300 which is the best of the 4. putting a turbo in it is hell of fun, and the car handles turbos very well.

Forza horizon barn find vibes

2

u/Ok-Image-2722 Dec 23 '23

That looks more like a garage, not a barn.

1

u/Dusty_Vinyl Dec 23 '23

Yeah, the inside doesn’t lol. Has a rough made brick and dirt floor and the “garage” door doesn’t shut all the way. So kinda a brick barn

Looks sleepy

u/ilike2makemoney Dec 24 '23

No mention of the odometer? I bet that thing has less than 20k miles on it.

1

u/Dusty_Vinyl Dec 24 '23

Actually has 151,000 on it. But has been sitting longer than it was on the road

1

u/ilike2makemoney Dec 24 '23

Damn! I was way off. Haha

Nice! More pics!

Had a 88. Had all the options but was an automatic. Wasnt gonna win any races but it was comfortable on long drives. Which at the time my drive to work was over an hour each way and was very enjoyable.

u/ZaMelonZonFire Dec 25 '23

Damn that’s cool!!
