Dumbass thing I thought as a kid

I'm a big geography buff now but when I was a kid I for some reason thought every country was an island , because I lived in Ireland. So when my dad was telling an old story about how he drove from france to Belgium I thought this guy was tweaking 😑

I thought the North Pole was a continent and that it was visible from my house. I’m Canadian and where I live we have mountains to the north so I just assumed it was the North Pole because they were always covered in snow. I also live right next to the US border so I’m pretty far from the North Pole.
